- Got a chance to do some lost foam casting with the electric furnace. Super easy and worked great for aluminum.
I make fishing medallions for our annual fishing trip in honor of a lost friend who started it.
Thanks to Vevor for sending this furnace to me free of charge. here's

Marvelous. The aluminum really did turn out clean. I like your angle method. I dig the trees. Can't guess what the other shape is. Is it tree related? I got nervous for ya at 04:03 with that bucket of water where it was. Had you accidentally dropped your molten metal near or in it, could have been a bad explosion. You kick ass Steve. Love the furnace. Keep it burning.
Thanks Shlisa! yes that would be bad. probably should keep that out of the way while pouring. I like making little trees. too easy now with the electric furnace. The mystery piece is the island of Newfoundland. cheers. Keep it burning

Steve that was very interesting, a Labour of love an hour or so per pour, probably better to stick to small items for the electric furnace, no idea what that map shaped pour is 🤷♂️
its really nice for the smalls. so convenient. The map is of Newfoundland. cheers
Beeswax is excellent for gluing foam. Use a brush that is up to temp, foam will fail before the wax. I have not tried to machine it.
interesting. ill keep that in mind. cheers
That top is drose you need to scrap it off before you pour..great looking stuff..
i tried. it was stuck in there. was having a hard time keeping the top liquid. cheers
The electric furnace is nice for the small castings isn't it? I love mine. I only have two complaints. The crucible doesn't last long and it takes forever to heat up.
Are you using it for aluminum of copper? Takes me about an hour to cast a piece with aluminum but don’t have to babysit it like the propane furnace
First
Cheers Buddy!
@@stevesrt8 Good stuff man. Yeah that copper is tough with those electric furnaces. It definitely takes forever. I mainly use mine for aluminum. It will also get you more use out of it. Bringing those heating coils that high will burn them out quicker.
@@HeinrichsMade yeah i agree for sure. i plan to use it mainly for aluminum in the winter time. had to test it out though. good to know what its capable of. cheers
