This is maybe the first song in my Life that I listen to everyday for weeks now. Maybe its not the intention of the song but the whole arc and the lyrics paints a portrait of the feeling when you are maybe addicted or in generally bad circumstances “It was february I was cold and I was high” and you say fuck this I am gonna change and you know you are going to because you want to live and not waste away but you also know its gonna be a storm and this is where the expressiveness of Joe’s voice really shines will this storm be a violent joy or something that I should fear it feels like something beyond good or bad but nonetheless monumental and unavoidable it’s gonna be the life you finally choose to live instead of inertia or fear. Also love the kind of anti climactic ending right before the storm comes also the music is exceptionally good. Maybe others feel differently but this is my read.
For me, the lyric "Are you ready for the storm?" alludes to the experience, or circumstance, of losing our loved ones. With that being said, lyrics are a subjective thing, so there's no 'right' or 'wrong' interpretation IMO.
Idk why but after hearing “are you ready for the storm,” for the 120th time, I really realized I wasn’t. Not a literal tornado or weather event, but the storm of life. I’m not doomed to not be ready, im just not ready right now. 7 days in a row of self improvement and hardening now without backsliding. Largely due to a realization from this song.
In our life, clarity comes in waves. We have choices. One is to dive under, the other is to swim above it. Tried both, failed twice. Maybe we 'll find another way as we grow.
Such a cinematic vibe to their performance. Done right, that phrase could serve as a backdrop during some sort of montage where a character descends into a fit of rage and eventual self-destruction.
This is incredible. Love how they are all holding it so delicately as it grows. Also how much they enjoy playing together. The vocal is impeccable. Love IDLES. Only heard them last year for the first time and been making up for it since.

This is such a fckn great opener for the album and any set. I hope you'll play it at Corona Capital the next November. Can't wait to see you again, my lads!! 🖤
This is just a perfect piece of music. Since I discovered it, I've just been addicted to it. It can join my favorite song in life: "A day in the life" by the Beatles. Thanks, it was unexpected in 2022!
Sound engineering here is fantastic.
its nigel godrichs show it better be haha
Didn't know, is he the same one of Radiohead? @@GreasyWop

you must rise and conquer in trancendental ruthlessness, then you´ll see the divine purpose in the impulse towards selfdestruction
cos we are ready for the storm )
We fuck*ng need an IDLES album produced by Nigel Godrich. We need it.

What a fucking band . Beautiful
how they all get so into it, delivering such a masterpiece, then just end it with "aight yeah that's set" really gets to me
This song is dark. Went looking for chords and found out what is was named after, then I re-read the lyrics. Good lord. Quite beautifully unpleasant.
this is the Putin's song
This song is such a blast.
Loved this song from the moment it dropped, this version is perfect too. Probably my favourite song of all time ATM..
Massive Attack: Angel vibes in the beginning. Love it.

Lyrics:
It was February
I was cold and I was high
It was February
I was cold and I was high
He looked up
He lost control
He was de-gloved
He was jelly rolled
It was February
I was cold and I was... high
He wanted love
He wanted soul
There's not enough
To make him whole
It was February
I was cold and I was high
The swell of heaven on my dashboard
I can see my spinal cord rip high
Hey-hey-hey, hey
It's raining glass, like a fever storm
Every promise I have sworn tonight
Hey-hey-hey
The swell of heavеn on my dashboard
I can see my spinal cord swing high
High
It's raining glass, like a fever storm
Evеry promise I have sworn tonight
High
It was February
I was cold and I was... high, high, high
It was February
I was cold and I was...

Her attitude is extremely good for the life adventure she is on now .
