You’re right on the watch makers, but it was uranium! The women would lick their paint brush to draw a finer line when painting numbers on the watch face, and the paint had uranium in it so it would glow in the dark. Super interesting video! ☺️
@@allygator616there are several elements that glow in the dark In high school i competed in a chemistry competition and received a shirt with the periodic table on it, YEARS later in college i realized that the radioactive elements all glew in the dark on the shirt. Im assuming a lot of those glow in real life as well

This is great. I live in Milford, CT (between Bridgeport and New Haven), and I think that the Danbury Historical Society still has the John Dodd hat store preserved from 1790.
Fun fact: Mercury naturally occurs in its liquid state because of its really low melting point (room temperature) and only naturally becomes a solid at -38°F! I'm one of the Irish commenters by the way hello! ☘️
I wrote my senior research paper on the symbolism in “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass.” That was a weird deep-dive down a rabbit hole that a 17-year-old probably shouldn’t have gone down!
