    Traditionally, black is used as a blue. You can see this in context of your swatches; the carbon looks light blue beside the others. Try mixing black and ochre for olive green tones.

    Those seem like they could be a good supply for people who are trying to be braver about adding darker contrast in their watercolor paintings, due to their intensity. Thanks for another helpful review!

    I bought an empty meedan metal palette. Took out the metal pan tray. I then used hot glue gun to create spaces for my Artgraf blocks. It holds all my earth tones and the three basic tones and a white. I can carry them around and use the metal pan for mixing.

    Yellow and black make green so you should be able to get a green from ochre and black but preferably the yellow out the other set may work better. Add very small amounts of the black to the ochre rather than the other way around.

    I love the variety of skin tones you can make with this earth colors set. And when you combine it with the small yellow/red/blue set, you have a lot of options for color mixing! I'm pretty intrigued, and may pick up my own. Thanks for your informative review.

  • @AngeliqueLins

    I use this during live drawing lessons, they are perfect for skin tones. I really like working with this medium. It's not easy to lift colour though, when you compare it with watercolour. Nice review, Teoh!

    I bought this set and the primary colors one. I broke off pieces of each color and put the pieces in an Art Bin 10-section Slim Line case. I just saw your video on the black, white and graphite set so I'm going to get that one to fill all 10 wells of the Art Bin case. Much easier to carry around.

    hi niaz ,i did see the earthy colours and grays and a brilliant demo as usual and thanks , but I think the primary colours look a lot better when mixed and you could go a lot further with them and make them beautiful water colours go on another level with the primary being as strong a pigment as they are and colour experimentation is an art its self brother, I even get lost in it myself especially being a very beginner !!!!!!

    Teoh I have Graphitint pencils by Derwent and they are very similar and quite nice but wow are they expensive. You can draw with them or add water for nice affects and the such. Tinted Charcoal is nice as well by Derwent. Great video like always!

    I love those earth tones, they look gorgeous 🥰 I don't mind the trees being reddish brown, those colours make the whole painting feel warm and autumny 😊 -though I'd miss some straight blue, too. That's my favourite colour after all. But then again there's the primaries to be had, so problem solved ^^'

    Im enjoying rhis set and agree the set could use a blue! I like ro go up to Mt. Lemmon to escape the heat and always bring this set with my pen and ink. I like using these as watercolor or to draw. Dont mind getting messy outdoors in the mountains. Lol. I always forget to swatch in my sketchbook. Whenever i watch your videos I think, oh I should do that!! Then forget again...

    • @teohyc
      @teohyc  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You need the right colours to mix a vibrant purple. Eg cool red and warm blue. The colours in the primary set aren't the right colours. These are more like mid red and mid blue
