This is perfection...just now getting into the sound of Connee (or Connie in the 30's-40's) Boswell. She had a very touching voice. She puts alot of emotion into her songs
I don't usually listen to Connie's solos because I'm more of a fan of the songs she made with vet and Martha. But it's crazy how much her voice changed since she sang with her sisters. Her first song was called I'm gonna cry and it was recorded in 1925. If you listen to that her voice sounds way different. This song was recorded the year Martha died too. Just thought it was kind of interesting
She was a fantastic singer no matter what, but I admit I prefer jazz and blues Connie, with her sisters, to pop song standard Connee in the later part of her career. In my opinion she sang more note perfect than any singer I’ve ever heard. Also her perfect diction, pronunciation, it’s always precise. Never a problem understanding a single word in any of her recordings (unlike today, I hardly need add).
Love this version of a great song.
Thank you for sharing.

Ella said she fashioned her style after Connee.

Lovely!
Too bad she did'nt record more post 1950 because her voice was richer and fuller.
She recorded five albums and quite a few singles in the 50's, with some success but I do also wish she had recorded more.
her dixieland and songbook lps were made in the 50s
