The sound of that engine brought me back 25 years, 74 Chevy, 427 Big Block, 4 spd split rear, with twin glass packs. That beast had melody climbing Bleeker Mt. Great memories, thanks Cody.
One year ago today, the Granite Mountain Hotshots lost 19 firefighters while fighting a fire in Yarnell, Arizona. This tragedy is a solemn reminder of the very real risks our first responders face every single day. Yes, they signed up for it. Yes, it's their job. And yes, we need to keep in mind the dangers they face and pray that they all come home safely at the end of their shift. A heartfelt and sincere thank you each and every one of you who risk your lives to keep the rest of us safe~
Volunteers in all respects are the true heroes in the world. I respect everyone who helps another person, but those who do it voluntarily just deserve the highest respect. Thank you for your service Cody!

i guess Im asking the wrong place but does any of you know a tool to log back into an Instagram account??
I somehow lost the account password. I love any tips you can offer me
@Abdiel Rogelio instablaster ;)
@Gus Westley i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm trying it out atm.
Takes quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Gus Westley It did the trick and I now got access to my account again. I'm so happy:D
Thanks so much you really help me out!
My brother used to volunteer for my hometown fire station. It was always interesting to watch the drills. I remember when he picked me up from school one time (huge age difference, he was the oldest and I'm the youngest of four) and he got called to a wildfire while we were on the way home. It scared me to see my brother rush into a bunch of burning trees. Thanks for sharing, Cody!
Great job Cody! I did 32 years of volunteer service both structural and wildfire. Loved every minute of it and only stopped because of health reasons. Thank you to you and everyone else who gives up their time to serve their community.
This was great! thank you, Cody, for the time and effort that goes into making this type of video. Lives, homes, and property will be saved as a result of you practicing these skills and putting yourself to the test! God Bless you and your family and may He keep watch over you all during woodland fire season and alwa
That is absolutely amazing. Very cool to watch, and thanks for volunteering your time!
Yet another great video! Thanks Cody!
Way too cool. One of my new favourites Cody! Thanks for this
Top notch content, very much appreciate your time/efforts and sharing!
I've been a volunteer firefighter" structural and wildland "for ten years now and love every minute of it! keep up the good fight Brother!
Thank you for your service and this channel.
I loved that. Ty for showing us this. I worked with soldiers training for field fire fighting for the military. I was a simple driver but enjoyed watching how they did things.
Always a pleasure to watch your videos Cody... Good stuff Sir.
I spent 5 1/2 years as a volunteer fire fighter first responder and EMT loved every minute of it no regrets great video !
Great work Cody! You are an asset to that area. I'm sure your neighbors are proud!
Cody this video came up as next in the list even though it is 3 years old. I really enjoyed this one, of course all your videos are top notch and informative. I had no idea that there was a clamp that allowed you to add a section of hose without having to run all the way back twice to shut off and back on the valve. That is awesome man! I learn multiple things in every single video you post. :)
Excellent video !! Very interesting to say the least. Thanks for all the time you put into these videos to educate those of us who are not in such a beautiful area.
Awesome! Good job! Thank you for the insight to what goes on.
This video was very well done. I love the opening!
Thank you for another great video Cody. Your video's are always interesting and educational. Stay safe when out on the wildland fire calls.
Great video, I have been fascinated with wildland firefighting since reading Young Men and Fire. Again great video. thx
Hey wranglerstar a fan from Scotland here Im a full time arborist and your videos really impress me for someone who isn't at it every day that was a great job there were mistakes but you acknowledge them and I appreciate that the porpoises designed to decelerate the rigged section by "letting it run" of you are looking for Arb related videos the isa's arborpod series is great stay humble friend
Niall.
Volunteer firefighters are truly some wonderful people. They assist others while risking their own safety. Thanks for what you do for your community.
Nice to see you run the paces, train, train and train some more! Great video Cody!
Nothing better than the volunteer firefighters of this country! I am biased, my husband was a volunteer when I met him. Stayed one for almost 20 years. Great way to meet people in the community while doing a much needed service.
Volunteer departments are having a hard time attracting members,
wranglerstar I just got back from a small wildland fire caused by a transformer bank that went bad. Thankfully it wasn't windy and we have had some moisture.
I LOVE all these wild land videos
I have loved ever single video of yours I have seen. I talk about your videos and lessons all the time. So much so that my wife has begun using "wranglerstared" as a disc riptide term for when I really do well on something.
Love using hose on the bite, real easy to get a hose out in a hurry. I spent 7 years as a volunteer in an urban brigade here in NZ and have been to a few small scrub/bush fires as we call them, hot, hard, thankless work some days. Loved every minute of my time.
I realize I'm a bit late here but I somehow have never seen this video. One reason i watch your channel is your involvement in the fire service. I have volunteered since November of 2007 and I absolutely love every second of it.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the Volunteer and Wildland FireFighters out there. A special breed indeed! I support my local volunteer firefighters every chance I get. Several years ago I got a less than 3min response. About the length of time it takes to kill a spider by your alarm system and walk to the back of the house... ahem! Really long embarrassing story that I'd like to forget!
Thanks, Cody! As always you are a real Blessing!
Vol. Firefighters are some of the unsung heroes in many areas. Without them would prove priceless actions. Thank you and thanks to all.
Great Video as usual. LIKE
It was also great to see the confidence you had setting up and your procedures were well practiced.
You are a hero in my eyes. Great video Cody.
I too wish to become a volunteer Firefighter, but here in England, you have to be able to reach the firestation in 5 minutes from your home. For me to get there it takes over 5 minutes unless you go a little over the speed limit....
Thanks Cody.
Ed
Very cool.
Really enjoying this kind of content.
It is honorable! Cody, You are seriously badass. Reminds me of my structural training days! Awesomeness!!
Always great to see a fellow fire fighter. We don't get wildland fires a few brush fires here and there.Mostly structural calls. Always had a lot of respect for hotshots and wildland firefighters going after a blaze with a rake and not much more
I absolutely love this video, the very first truck I ever trained on was a 78 GMC FMC . Hell was even red the second volunteer dept I joined had a yellow one. After looking at the comments I am reminded why after I became an instructor I made the recruits figure out how much water a 1 3/4 each section of hose held and then calculate its weight, after they usually made sure the hose was where it was needed before adding water
Oh man! You spoil us! Thanks Cody! Soo cool!!!
Awesome hose drill Cody! I love firefighting and love to see the equipment you're working with! Gods' speed dragon slayer.
I love this Wildland Fire series. It's very interesting.
Just found your channel and I like it. I’m a volunteer firefighter from S.C. and we fought a woods fire about 2 hrs ago.
Cody, I would love a video tour of your fire station. As a volunteer myself it's always nice to see how other departments are equipped to get ideas for improving my local departments.
Structural guys need heros!! You are my hero!! Great vid!! Nothing like good training!! Stay safe and I'm thinking about you guys!!
When we get a big ripping fire I'm calling you so stay in shape,
Different is good! Keep them coming.
My dad's volunteer station here in Vermont was sent to New York on 9/11 to cover the stations that were empty.
My dad had to go too he was is a firefighter in franklin
Really enjoyed...Thanks, Cody
Your where I'd love to retire. Been volunteering for over 20 years down here in Texas. Our small town is now well over 7000 people. Somebody. Thanks for the great video.
Nice stuff, Cody. Thank you.
Cody, I think a way to cut down a little time is by keeping the nozel on the hose when when it's in the donut roll. All you would have to do is set up the valve to the engine. unroll the line, connect and go instead of having to connect the line then connecting the nozzle. Also, You always know where the nozzle is too instead of having to dig in the bag for it. Just a personal preference. If you have your own that you like and that's the way you're comfortable with it then by all means i respect that. Another thing. You might get a fire at night. I'm not sure if you do have a helmet light but if not i would advice to look at a few bright ones online. They come in great handy at night in the steep terrain. I bet you have plenty experience with that. haha! Have a great one, Cody! Keep up the great work.
Keep videos like this coming. It's very interesting to see the meat and potatoes of how this stuff works and what goes into it all.
Amazing the things that you do.I am in awe of your talents and callings. Stay safe out there this season. You are a true teacher and inspiration to me and all of your subscribers.
Great video!!!
I was a maritime fire fighter years ago. It looks pretty different from what you do. I respect everyone that does that job but Brother, I have to wonder about a one man fire fighting team! Thank you for what you do my friend. :)
As a fellow brother in the volunteer firefighting world i'd like to give you a good thumbs up. Keep it hot brother. All those other might get the fame while all you recieve is the flame. In all reality, you always got brothers everywhere. Stay busy.
Oregon needs folk like ya'll .. I have lived here my whole life (42years ) and I sure like what you guys and galls do for all of us .. Good job man !!
That was a lot of fun and worth while video. I too am in a small town and we rely on volunteers as well.
It would be cool to see the hand tools they use on the engines.
Great video as always Cody!
You’re hose bowling is inspiring! Stay safe 👍🏻
Great video series. When I ran a local volunteer station for 8 years, we'd have our truck configured for the task at hand. Why do you not leave the why Y on during brush fire season? Next is your selection of supply line. You are using 1-1/2" double jacket from what I see. Why not use 1-3/4" to reduce your friction loss? Finally, you role you 1" single jacket forest fire line. I've not seen that before. Instead we used forestry bags with 300' of 1" single jacket forestry hose which included the clamps and fittings.
Great video! I grew up in a family of volunteer firefighters. My grandfather was a chief for a few years, I have 2 uncles that are volunteers, and a cousin that is walking that path as well. I've always wanted to volunteer, but after college I've always lived in a city of professional firefighters. We're planning on moving to a larger piece of land in a much more rural area within the next few years. When we do, if there is a volunteer department, you can bet I'll be giving my time! Thanks for the video and all of your videos!
That hose clamp, I have spotted them on fire trucks and always wondered how they were used in the fire service. Cody you have answered that question thanks.
Very interesting. I learned something new today!
Some of my greatest memeries I have had in life was volunteer firefighting.
Stay safe Cody!
Very impressive. It's always good to see someone who's very good at what they do. I learned some things that could come in handy. Thanks
nice work Cody!!!!
That was actually rather fun and interesting ... I've not seen that sort of thing before but I could see how it could appeal... thanks for sharing :o)
This was awesome!!!
One thing, do not roll the hose forward into the fire or u burned ground, unless you want to loose the hose.. We also will throw out 2 hoses. For a 200 ft length, longer hose lay so we stop less. As for the in line Tees, we use Wyes personally, easier to use. Good video minus throwing the hose into the fire
How ironic, I am sitting here in my downtime at the fire station watching Wranglerstar do training with his fire station.
I wish I could work with 1" hose! One major part of my career is to perform fireflows and pressure tests for Fire departments though hydrants and flanges. I always have to use and roll up 2", 3", and once in a while 4" firehose! Theres not much more tiring than rolling up hundreds of feet of hose. All firefighters have my respect. My job is hard and it doesnt require speed to save lives. What I do in 20 minutes needs to be done in minutes by you guys to save lives and property. Awesome vid Cody!
your gear looks so nice and new. you the man wranglestar. you make me want to be a better man. keep safe brother.
I served on a VFD for a few years and I loved it. Get out there and do it!
Very well done
I just loved this video! It was interresting to see how the hoses connect together, the spraying of the ground while you were progressing and how you clamp shut the hoses while connecting them.
Can we expect more videos of this fire engine? I'd really love it!
Best regards from Norway!
Thank you Croyfer, Anything is possible. If the subscribers are enthusiastic about this sort of video I'm happy to do more.
wranglerstar I hope so. Who doesnt love fire engines? ;-)
Glad to see that your working with wild land protection.
You forgot to mention how rewarding it feels to know you can help, when some can't help themselves. Great video Wranglerstar.
We use 2" Attack hoses, 3" blitz and 5" LDH. On a rural fire/wildland, we will pull 200ft of the 2" crosslay, spray n go 200ft, at the end of 200ft, we we use a 2 way wye with 1. 5" lines, every 200ft of 1.5" we have a 3 way gate. Center gate is for. More 1.5" and the left and right we habe 1" reducers for mopup and forestry 1" line attack on a progressive lay. We have a 5000 gal tender pumper, that supports our vol strike force. We have a few brush rigs, but our main attack engine has 1000gal of water 50 gal of onboard class a foam. We can also tow a foam trialer behind the 5000 gal tender pumperm that pump onnthe 5000 gal tender does 2000+ gpm. Can support a whole strike force and keep our rigs full for while., while also mixing a .5 to 1% foam mix into the supply lines using the trailer.
If I was close to ya, id sign up in a heartbeat.. Beautiful rig. Sounds great tooo
Well done. E331 looks Good. Thanks for Volunteering. We need more volunteers like you with good morals and work ethic.
Nice job Cody.God Bless
Interesting information, thanks.
sweet, another vol. firefighter, stay safe my friend !
Thank You & Please be Safe
Great video, nice engine too! I bet the grass appreciated a drink in that heat.
When on an Engine crew on a small mountain town in Nocal, many times I was the only one respond and had to start the attack alone, great job Cody. olllllllllo
Most dramatic lawn watering..... EVER. Nice info Cody.
Awesome video Cody. Us volunteers are disappearing quickly I'm glad you posted this video and I hope it serves as an inspiration to many. P.s. Us structural firefighters don't need heroes because we are the heroes.
I liked subscribed an am a volunteer firefighter so I respect and like you...
Another excellent video from wranglarstar. In another video maybe u could do a full in depth walkaround of the pump truck.
That was really neat.
Thank you Kris,
As a volunteer firefighter in the Houston area I actually enjoy watching videos of other departments attack methods for fires
Awesome!
I am a vol fire fire fighter and it is awesome once it get in your blood you don't want to quit great job Cody
One thing we learned really quickly is that you always make sure every part of your pack is closed before you pick it up and move off ... it's always going to be what you need most that you drop along the way!
I m with you cody I love being volunteer rural firefighter
Coolest way to water your lawn!
Very interesting and informative, I've lived in areas like Morton,Wa. where this type of firefighting is common. So I know how dangerous it can be with a full crew,I hope you get some help soon. Good Luck!
Good job my Friend
Cody, you should look into using Travis packs. That's what my department and the USFS use here in PNF (southwest). Allows you a charged defense line as you draw another line out the bottom of the pack. Once you reach the end you tie the next line into the gated Y and off you or the next man goes. You can easily get several hundred feet out very quickly with a defense line every hundred feet. And you can easily carry two packs per person over you line pack or web gear.
Hey Cody great video, could you do more of an in detail video on the fire engine, would really love to see more of it.
