Disagree - unless the Vi'dar has changed I remember i ttook ages to get the probe refines to max it and it took a long time to max tier it. Crystal isn't that hard to come by and I'd rather have a Saladin, than a crappy slow Bortas or an under levelled Vi'dar. Still use it in the 40s, and will prob still use it for a while.
How to grind it effectively? Got maxed out BP via events, haven't got any BP via grinding 31+ federation ships, costs too much credits or away team points. Any good advice?
So much blood, sweat, and tears (of my enemies) went into maxing this ship. It strapped me for crystal in the late 20's early 30's and the sigh of relief when I finally maxed it and could work on other things was wonderful. Now that I'm level 45 now (pushing the button on 46 tomorrow for the leaderboard) I still have not scrapped it and can't bring myself to do so. If I had to do it all over again, I would probably have gone with either the Bortas or Centurion.
Maxed out Sally in the 30s was a blast. PvP with Dukat strike crew, base cracking, it does it all. I see the wisdom of what you say, but damn I love my Sali and would do it again.
I have to agree. When I started my second account I really made some hard choices. I got the Northstar and pushed it as my warship until the vidar. Built up my vidar and Kumari and built a D3 for cloaking events. Built a Bortas and maxed it. Built the B'rel and maxed it. Just as I reached ops 34 to build the D4 solo armadas launch. It was easier this time to get these ships compared to my first account where I got the Saladin and was constantly struggling to level it up to it's maxed level. You can survive without building a Saladin and miss the crystal bottleneck if you really plan your progression and not making Federation your faction choice at the beginning of the game.
Ops 39 here. My sally is over 3 million power with territory and i still use it for pvp, hostile grind and base cracking. But mostly to show off to the other ops39s. Im not going to get into is it worth it or not. For me it was and i still use it alot.
I think this assessment is correct. I still use mine at ops 46 for base cracking and rep grinding because the repair bill is low. I remember well scrounging for every single scrap of crystal I could get while getting to max a vidar, horizon, and sally before ops 30. The faction miners only added to the pain. I would build a centurion instead now.
You're assuming, like Rev, that everyone has Romulan faction to be able to build a centurion. Most players go for Federation first, because the selection of officers is better, and officers can make a huge difference in ship performance.
I still use my Saladin. Especially now I have Interceptor Strike Team and have been able to take down epic 3* ships with it in TC. I get the logic of skipping it for some people but unless you're going for the D4 at 34, I would still go for it. I skipped the 32 ships and don't regret it for a second and would probably do the same again. I maxed it at ops32 and still use it at ops 39, but accept it may recede once I get into the 40s and towards the Pilum.
I have a maxxed gladius at 4.5 million power without territory. I can kill 11x49 trader ships from all 3 factions. 200+kills in Ty Gokur and i can hold my own against other ships with a few million power more if they arent using strike crew.
If youbare going for the pilum, save up all your rom faction credits, or grind the crap out of rom capitol heavy traders. Save your epic armada tokens. Gonna want to build and scrap d3s and sallys.
I’ve talked about this recently. In the old days it was a necessity but with the higher levels being able to hit down so far it takes away some of the Saladin punch.
Agreed. Save that crystal, the Vidar in particular is useful as an alternative and lasts well into the 40's and beyond whereas the Sally sits in my inventory and never gets used.
100% Skip. I tiered up x2 Vi’Dars to T9, skipped OPs 28 and 32 ships and once I hit OP’s 34 I built a D4 and Enterprise and by the time I hit OP’s 35 I got them to T6.
If you think about it, there are tons of OPs 39+ with lower Tier epic ships, allowing me to punch up really well in both PvP and PVE
I enjoyed having a sally at ops 28.. looked forward to it, but that was 2 years ago and I even used in upper 30s till I got my enterprise tiered up. If I had to start over, I would likely skip it. I would get a vidar at 25 and legionary at 26 to carry me till 34 epics. All that crystal could be used g3 faction miners. The last few tiers were painful years ago. All that crystal... I don't wouldn't even take a horizon up that high now. The game is so different than what it used to be. It is ship overload in the 20s.
Sally lover here, dont use it much any more but i was still hoping for a skin. I also want to see how useful the armory upgrades are to the lower ships before getting them scrapped. I do see the logic and how the games changing & streamlining certain areas to grow faster. The recent video on the dark jelly was like damn that’s a huge change. Thanks for everything 👊
I skipped the Sally, level 26 and 32 ships. Put the crystal into miners, and research. Then rode my Bortas until getting Enterprise and Augur, almost enough bps for D4.
Disagree. Taking a Saladin to t4/t5 is very practical given the inflation in the g3 economy. It’s essential for base cracking, base defense, it’s a great hostile grinder due to first shot and impulse speed, and my Saladin is about 40% stronger than my Vidar, so I don’t see the Vidar as a viable pvp replacement unless you’re camping at lvl 25 or wherever you get the Vidar. Thanks for the video!
The Crystal requirement argument is very sound. It sucked deciding what took priority on the upgrade totem pole when everything required UC Crystal. Rev the game has changed, 18 months ago the Sally was the way to go. Don't regret the choices I made, but if you are new to the Game or even thinking of re-rolling a new account (please don't) your money is best used feeding the poor than giving it to Scopely. Good Vid Rev
Never built a sally until mid 40s then it was just to scrap, the unc crystal is much better put into faction mining ships. Pmc/ pmt will allow even a mayflower class tier to get you to where you need, skip 3* rare absolutely not needed and then only a t4 maybe t5 3* epic is absolutely needed. A maxed mayflower and legion got me up to the 3* epics, most of the events/grinds require specialty ships anyways, and putting res/mats into faction miners will save you heartache later on down the road.
A ship is only worth skipping, if you can get a better one, at the same level, to replace a worse ship. Kehra sucks, so replacing it with the Saladin, is definitely a good upgrade. What other interceptor is there (besides the Vi'Dar), that you can use to upgrade your interceptor fleet? There are events that require a particular ship type, like interceptors vs battleships. It will be easier with 3, 4, or 5 interceptors that you can kill with at the same time, and you don't want those ships to be Kehras. You should have both the Saladin, and the Vi'Dar, for when those events come around.
@@RevDeuce You're assuming that everyone cultivates Romulan faction. The conventional wisdom in the game, that I hear from everyone, is that you cultivate Federation faction first, because they have better officers than the Klingon and Romulan factions, then once your faction standing is locked, you cultivate the Romulan and Klingon factions. Trying to dual faction is too delicate a balance to be reasonably achievable for most people. Romulan ships also use a lot of gas, and I'm experiencing a gas bottleneck. I need it for everything that is available to me in building and research, and several ships. I am often left with nothing going on in my build and research queues, because my refinery can't feed me uncommon refined gas quickly enough. I mine plenty of raw gas, and get more as rewards for events and missions, but the refinery is still a bottleneck. Something has to be done, by Scopely, to fix this problem, like level up the amount of gas produced by the refinery, and increase the odds of getting higher quality gas, as you level it up.
Street Hawk here, Rev. I’ve got to say that the Saladin is one of my favourite ships, and in terms of where I’m at (ops level 35), the Saladin is the most powerful ship that I have in the game thus far. It’s helping me progress and beat missions like no other ship I have in terms of ship power up until now. And I always like ships with BIG guns and powerful attacks! Long live the Saladin!👍👍👍
I'm definitely happy with my saladin still, and not at all sad that I have it, but you definitely have a point about resources... I'm lvl 35 now, and am still completely strapped for crystal. EVERYTHING WANTS CRYSTAL (it seems like everything anyway), and I am a bit sick of that.
To get crystal, I make REAL good use of away team missions, mining ore in Romulan space daily to get crystal when I meet the daily targets (Klingons hate my guts right now, which is why I don’t mine crystal in Klingon space), and through faction stores (like Romulan, Rogue store by scrapping Stellas regularly, etc.).
I agree that you don't need to get the Saladin and its a massive drain on crystal in the 20s but I feel like you do need to get one of the ships at ops 28. I got the centurion to tier 8 which I regret doing since not long after I managed to get the enterprise and found that I needed that gas to get my enterprise to tier 5. If I was to start over I would put more thought into what ops 34 ship I would get, enterprise at 34 then I would get the Bortas at 28, Auger at 34 I would go centurion at 28. Only reason I chose the chose the centurion in the first place was because i had been grinding fed/rom for a long time and didn't have the time to regrind my Klingon rep.
I challenge you Rev, crack a station level 49 or higher with or without ships. (just no Kras) I'll pick Saladin with Rom, HG Worf, and Harrison. You choose whatever ship you have at your disposal with whatever choice of crew you'd like to use. And see if your choice can crack the station faster than Sally with Rom HG Worf Harrison. Also try with Bortas and Vidar/Stella which you seems to believe are just as good as Saladin and see how they perform too.
I would say the vidar is the most important ship in the game - to get and max. and being able to spend the 3*uc on it instead of the Saladin, is a much more strategically smarter move. That being said, i was very sad to scrap my Saladin. but i did use it everyday up to ops 41.
So the ST teams have made what feels like almost every other crew loadout obsolete (when facing them), so now its all about the battle triangle - a video on the new PVP environment, and anti-ST teams, would be AMAZING
That actually was my same point i made to a newer player about choosing the bortas over sally to work was the sheer amount of crystal needed in the late 20's and early 30's
Hoping this is something that can be answered in a way to help the masses Rev. Love your channel! With so many tasks best suited for PMC/T in particular, I'm looking for advice for a middling player. I'm camping at 29 have all the strong ships you'd expect at that level, and would like to keep the same crews for each ship without having to swap out too much. I order them 1- Sally, 2- Miner, 3- Stella/Frank, 4- Vidar/Disco/second miner. People like me at this level have 125ish officers including the likes of epic jaylah, nero, sisko, khan, five, kirk, gorkon, kang, pike, carol, mudd, eurydice, kras, ten, grush. Yet the best advice is always maybe five of those epics and a few of the rares like moreau or t'laan or chen. I don't think I've ever had a use for half of those epics on the bridge. I send them on away teams! As an example, if i'm swarming and then someone in my alliance says, "hey we're gonna do some eclipse armadas" or "time for some Carmadas", it's never- cool let's go! It's always- recall, heal that ship and then shuffle people around (and many ftp hate rushing stuff like building/research/repairing). What do you recommend for the people who want to maximize doing dailies, doing events, maximizing rep gain while always being ready to jump into something with the group? Thanks!
I bypassed the Saladin initially. I built it to complete ship events because I tier was locked on my other ships. I do use it every day now. But it will likely be scrapped after I have D4.
From my experience a max Sally is better than a d4 until this d4 get to t5 or so. But things have changed so my experience might not be relevant anymore
I skipped the Saladin. Riding my legionary all the way to the epics. Putting the crystal into faction miners and then probably D4. I also took horizon only as far as to when it took uncommon and then stopped. No use for it since I have the faction miners instead. Ops 30 ftp btw
I took over my child's acct that I made for her, which I never wanted about 14, so she didn't have to shield.. well she was playing unattended and decided she'd push the pretty colored button to level up. I pushed it to 24 now, and with her acct being 2.5 yrs old, she has a lot of RSS and mats, so her acct wins every auction that I try to win almost! She has all the best new officers, some are T2 by the end of the arc they're released in. I just can't win domination events with only buildings and research, as I'm all done with those. I can take out 35s in pvp with the kumari/specialty ship events because of how well my crews are leveled up. I don't plan on going above 24 for a while because it's so easy to do the events for this acct, and the time I need to dedicate to it is very minimal compared to my main almost 40 acct that hardly wins events anymore....
I am a Sally skipper. I went Centurion. I ignored your advice and sank a lot of that extra crystal into a Valkis and research. I don't regret it at all. I am now 41 and can mine low level deep space with the Valkis without having to go 42 for the warp range research. Once I do that research, I'll be able to get my Valkis to the lucrative 4* systems in the bajoran loop, no need for a G4 miner. Before the strike teams not even a Cent could beat a crit crewed Sally.
The Saladin is AMAZING for cracking bases even in the mid 40s and up. Send a spam of a Rom Sallies and you will get through a base cheaper than any other ship. That big gun with Rom, HG worf and Harrison can tear up even 5* ships.
Interesting timing on the video. as a level 27 player, I've been thinking about this very thing as I use my vidar for most everything right now. she is only a t7, but with the dukat crew, she can make a mess of a lot of peoples nice ships and with the hostile crew, she finishes my dailies pdq. one of the things I really like about her is the number of below deck slots. my first ship with that many and you can really setup some nice officer abilities combos because of all the available slots. thank you for your views on this subject.
First and foremost, thank you for all of your great content, you’ve been my go to for all things stfc. I’m in that quandary. At level 26 I’m working on maxing my Vi’dar but have been on the fence about the Sally. Had it my first go round and it didn’t disappoint but as you said, the game has changed. As a f2p I have to plan a lot farther ahead than most players. I definitely think I will be opting for the Bortas this go round. It’s just the smart choice considering I’m Fed/Klingon, though I really want the Roms 28. Lol!
I would say that if you're going to camp anywhere, you should build out the best ships for each class at that level. So, if you're going to camp at 29 for a while, then build up the Bortas/Sally/Cent. If you then camp at 35, build Ent/D4/Augur.
@@RevDeuce I've always had my main account on my mobile and on the PC app. How do you unlink the main account on the pc app to start a new account on pc?
I find myself having similar conversations often. Old tribal knowledge that just hasn't aged well as so many in-game dynamics get tweaked. Good of you to come out with these updates because those of us beyond the point where ships like the Saladin become relevant also not experiencing it in the current state of the game!
I agree with this advice for a soft spender or even a dolphin spender but, For my new allaince members, my advice is still that it would depend on pace of growth for the player. If the players are a true F2P, meaning not even the $20 BP, then the Saladin may still be worth it cause the grind is still rough from 34-39. Unless you have timed it perfectly, you probably will not have a 34 epic till about 36-37 so the Saladin or Bortas will fill that hole and be your primary ship...it is still better than a Vidar pound ofr pound... I get the logic of this change in meta though for mild spenders...save th crystal for the epics
ViDar was my interceptor in the 20/30's .. Used that, Centi and Legionare to keep battle triangle. Next stop (skipping 32's) was the Augur ... saved me a TON of crystal
As a guy that has a lustful fanboy attraction to this ship even at lvl 49 I want to know what crack you're smoking because it's some good stuff lol. I leaned on this ship and still own one, probably the only ship not destined for the scrapper out of how well I make it work in comparison to the other ships in that range.
I think you're remembering it stronger than it actually is. Since they've done multiple battle mechanic updates it doesn't stand head/shoulders above bort/cent. Both can easily take it down (and vice versa). it's still a fantastic ship though.
@@RevDeuce when the other ships NEED all the modifications to keep up I'd still consider the Saladin better. Perhaps its my fanboy looking through rose colored glasses but when I'm helping the smaller guys in my alliance with armadas I usually grab my Centurion because it performs well enough to be a supporting ship allowing others to do something instead of the Saladin simply taking over. To be fair the fat bottomed girl that is the Bortas is also guilty of catching my eye, unfortunately the pizza cutter of doom got there 1st lol.
I agree now. Back in my day we spend months 28-30 so sally was so important. now by the time you make it even decent someone else has pushed to 34 and is just crushing you all day anyway. best to invest in miners and vidar.
So… I moved faster than I should have and here I am at lvl 30 without having gotten the Saladin. I did get the Vidar and am currently sitting at level 25 with it, soon to tier up again. It’s been frustrating because I don’t have the same power as my peers and I see a lot of them with Saladin’s rocking up to 1.1 million power. So here I am with the fed credits to buy the Saladin and wondering if I should, or if I should bank them for another month or two and invest them into the Enterprise. Thoughts?
@@RevDeuce Exactly how does the game lose? Please enlighten everyone how the game would lose by instead of every daily event giving out millions of Parsteel and 30 or so uncommon crystal having one event a week or even a month and make it harder to complete give out a decent amount of crystals.
I kept using my Saladin until I got my D4, I wasn't tri-faction locked yet, it was my flagship until I got my Enterprise then it became my go to back up. But now it's been mothballed with the rest of the old ships that aren't quite as useful. I think before I scrap my level 28 ships I'll take them out, one more time have them grind on a few hostiles before I decommission them. It'll be a sad day when I do.
The Sally on my second account is scrapping now as I need parts for my Pilum. While yes she was a great ship and was my best interceptor until I got the Pilum, the crystal bottleneck was real and painful until I got my Augur and stopped needing to spend on the Sally, K'vort and other crystal hogs of the late 20's. If I started again I'd likely skip her for a different ship.
I’d say if anyone had any plans on base raiding consistently then sally is a must have. If not go with bortas and you can still crack them fine just less efficiently.
Sometimes fun is more valuable than crystal and tritanium. Sally and Vidar are the funnest ships in the game so far (I'm lvl 38). Your logic definitely holds but sometimes you just gotta have a ship because you want it. I recommend getting it but don't focus your spending on it right away. You'll recoup the cost of upgrading it by saving on repair costs and time when you're in the mid-late 30s.
For me the age of the Saladin is king of kings died the moment they really began working on making the other classes more viable and only got more pronounced over time. Yes the Sally is amazing, I loved my Sally. However, since going to OPS34 it's been a cheap base cracker and thats it. And even in that role... I'm just as likely to throw my Ent or Augur into that base as my Sally. Because the Sally may take 3 - 4 hits to get what the Enterprise/Augur does in 2 done. I can agree with using the Vi'Dar for a PVE grind ship - it makes sense it's a damn fine ship. No the PVP in the Vi'Dar is not quite as punchy as it is in the Saladin but it's close enough that crew can make a difference. The Stella I have a harder time reconciling. Personally I find the Stella weak without the research to back it up but sure as your M Score progresses? Hell yeah it will work. As far as the skip ships. I would get a D3/Legionary at OPS26, skip the Mayflower (unless you're hurting for a ship to work on real bad), Pick up one of the OPS28 ships (doesn't matter which, they all do as well as the other) skip the 32s and work on the 34s. I got my Gladius, I got it because I like the Gladius but man did that slow my roll at 39!
I think that it is a high crystal investment, but completely worth every crystal shard. I use it daily still at level 39, the power make the other parts viable. And a vidar while great is not its equal. Half of the specialty ships use thier own currency. I respectfully disagree, and will encourage my team to still get the Saladin, and take an extra month or two for everything else, its worth it.
I built the Centy instead and don’t regret it for a minute. The Centy smashed the Sally in PVP, so with most people focusing on Sallys it was a hoot killing them. Crewed right the Centy did everything just fine, and I kept Crystal for other things.
I totally agree with the usefulness. However, it can make sense for gameplay to have more than one good ship. A Vidar can carry you a LONG way indeed, but it should be noted that the transition to an Enterprise/D4/Augur needs to be managed in that case. An argument for building Bortas / Saladin could also be made by considering the scrapping rewards later on and having a smoother sailing through the 35-39, as you can punch solo armadas while working away on your Epic Faction ships. Boils down to your perfect strategy - and when talking with newer players, they may not be as patient as an experienced player.... :)
I have a maxed bortas because early on I was locked in with Klingons. Don’t regret it at all. Not saying it’s better than the sally or not, but at lvl 38 my bortas sits as my 4th ship at 2.1 million. Not bad.
Sorry i like my Saladin and i wouldn't change getting it if i ever decided to start a second account i would still get one its just that good of a ship. I currently have 2 saladin ships i will probably scrap my main sally at some point for the G4 mats and max my second one just so i have it in my collection of ships
I disagree with this, currently game events are heavily giving you more crystal than any other rss. I maxed my sally in early 30s and never strugled with crystal when keeping up with ops upgrades while gas was biggest bottleneck. Also sally will be great in your solo armadas and that big gun is very big gun again in solo borg armadas, makes enterprise look like support ship...
@@RevDeuce That is most likely true, but would argue difference between ore and crystal is small while gas is worst out of 3, and to counter this you need more ore for progress your buildings than gas and crystal, so you should have more extra crystal to play with.
I used it a lot for rep Fed rep grinding in Ty gokor (The 1B lock). with the added bonus because im using a fed ship. granted, i dont have an enterprise... ;)
I never got a Saladin (I'm level 37 now) and didn't realize it was supposed to be a very good ship until much later. Got by just fine. It would have been nice to have one for certain types of PVP maybe 2 years ago, but not sure anymore. Anyways, if you are below level 30 and thinking should I get centurion or saladin or bortas, then get the Sally as it rocks. But if you want and get a Gladius, it is like Saladin on steriods.
Started playing this game on my fresh server 6 months ago, and with how easy it is to level up in this game, I do have some regrets going for the Saladin. As my first and currently only lvl 28 ship, it has been great ship that I do everything with but the drain on my crystal has been nuts. I admit I had dumped a lot of the g3 UC crystal stockpile on ECS horizon when I first got it but I mine just as much as I PvE/PvP. But with the vi'dar talios announcement months ago, building upgrades from lvl 30+ and research costs, I cannot amass the amounts needed to tier my sally beyond tier 5 as a F2P player. I am not the type to camp out at a level if there is no building/techs I can do, so camping at lvl 29 was something I took as long as I could feasibly but now in my lvl 31 player with only a tier 5 (+2/6 upgrades) Sally and that will likely remain like that by the time I reach lvl 34.
One of the few ships I'll never scrap, but it is a valid point. In all honesty, I used a Centurion much more, especially once cloaking became available.
Well, it comes down to what you find enjoyment in i guess. And your server and alliance. Do you like mining more than anything i guess you dont need a Saladin. If you are in a hostile environment and need to have a shotgun around, sally still is necessary. For me and my gameplay it was the most fun ship in the game when it was my top ship. I still use it every day as a lvl 39. And i see ops50+ players use it, with their research its over 8 M in strength 😉 But i understand your wiew on this, and you may be logical right. But were is the fun in that? Thanks rev👋
I went down Maisey sally Ent route.. I.m now lvl 39 camping trying to max Ent.. sally was maxed at lvl 30 4 me.. I still use her and d4 in faction hunt for speed to complete. Snw crew d4.. pmc sally. I have 1st triple lock on rep.. currently grinding fed rep for fed 2nd lock.. I do this with sally pmc and Ent. Snw pike hemmer synergy crew(below deck crew on here to make Ent last same as sally)... use them in Ty'Gokor system for highest rep yields for reasonable ship strengths. Without sally I would need to use D4.. which lasts longer but does not yield the bonus rep. Max sally here is so useful. Currently 200m fed rep.. Her strength and speed still make my go to second ship for hostile rep grinding.
I agree that the Saladin takes sooo much crystal. I haven’t really tried using my vidar for faction dailies but my husband said his doesn’t have the warp range to get to his faction dailies system. I am enjoying the Saladin but it’s expensive. Does this change your camping at 28/29 benchmarks? Would you just say skip all 26 and 28 faction ships and wait for a 30s ship? Or do you still need to pick one?
There was a time when I thought I would never get an epic... But once I got one it seemed the other two came easily.. In the meantime, I rode Sally all day everyday 🙂. PVP, grinding, base cracking you name it. Given that it seems a lot easier to get an epic than when I first started. Maybe it makes sense not to go so hard for it. Because once you get an epic you're going to want to get that up fast.
I just started playing the game and in chat this one person mentioned you and to go for free gifts ect learning so my question is how do I advance levels idk were I am in game by my picture says 6 lol prob not high in comparison but I'm loving the game so far and can't wait to learn more thanks for the videos
I skipped it ...cause it was a Fed ship! ...and ** ** the Federation! I made my Vidar my main back then ...and it was worth it! (...other then getting bumped from almost every armada cause everyone else had a Sally😥)
I was L30 before I found out that I could purchase (star trek tokens) a ship. The Saladin was the ship o purchased and it is awesome. I like and still use it.. it has a respectful power on shields and hull. Saladin is worth every faction penny. It is disappointing that scopely did not allow the Saladin to have cloaking ability.
I went centurion cos i thought economically it would be better but no one told be about how expensive research and buildings would be for gas! Defense platforms and science lab, forge, engine tech use up soooo much gas that i regret it. Honestly my Stella at only tier 4 can clear my dailies and this centurion feels kinda useless. With so much res in the game due to events the only time i run out of anything is when im going for mat spend slb's. So i dont even need a base cracker. Honestly its not as fun, but im wondering if you even need a lvl28 ship at all.
I took a Cent most of the way up but didn't max it, and I did max my Sally. If I could rewind to ops 28 and reverse that, I definitely would. I don't know that I'd *skip* the ship entirely, but I'd probably stop halfway up the tier grind before it got super expensive. You'd get 75% of the value at 25% of the cost.
Whilst I kind of agree with skipping the Saladin, it's so powerful relative to other ships at that level, and so cost effective you should really still build. Especially don't build the Bortas instead as that thing still needs (before efficiency research) 2689 uncommon Crystal to max as well as 8912 uncommon Ore, to max the Saladin is 7617 uncommon Crystal and 2402 uncommon Gas, over 1000 less uncommon overall. For that a maxed Saladin will have 10% more hull health than a maxed Bortas, 20% more shield points, 40% cheaper to repair and a way faster grinder
the biggest flaw in your reasoning is thev limited ways the specialty ships can be upgraded. becuase you Cant get the special resources to upgrade those ships till you have built them first. unlike faction ships you can refine and save before building to get a jump on upgrades. the specialtys ships stay weak for too long compared because of this restriction.
How does the armory play into this. From a hostile and armada point of view. Just got it up to 26 and now my Mayflower is impressive. Solo borg mf, Saladin and ent got a big boost all of a sudden. And doesn't require me to use boosts anymore. And can't wait for the Saladin to get that upgrade.
I still love my max Sally at ops 39. I agree with what Rev says at this point. It was such a crystal drain that i neglected a lot of my faction miners. Right now I am trying to finish one G3 epic ship to max before moving to ops 40 and the crystal would be better spent to those faction miners to keep up with full pulls in the refinery.
homie i feel like you're wasting a lot of time maxing an epic while you're missing out on the fantastic rewards 40+ can bring. i jumped to 41 with a t7 enty with no regrets whatsoever. i got into my kelvin so quickly it really didn't matter and the jelly helped me bridge the gap.
@@dancemattdanceify problem is i am nowhere near getting a Jelly. Auger and Ent are T5. So i feel i need them to be a bit higher to bridge that gap till i get my G4 ships. I also am free to play so everything i do has to be done with that in mind.
Rev, you're DEAD WRONG on this buddy, I'm at ops 44 with G4 ships and maxed out G3 epics, but my Saladin is still very relevant as it is the ONLY ship I use to crack stations that are bigger than mine, I use Saladin, not only because it's cost efficient, but also because it is just BETTER overall. With Rom, Harrison, HG Worf, Saladin can crack stations with fewer hit than ANY G3 epics or G4 uncommons could, because when fighting stations that are mid 40 or up, your ship will most certainly die in first couple rounds regardless you use a decently upgraded G4 ship or a maxed out G3 epic. Saladin is the king because of its firing pattern, which allows it to cause the MOST damage possible to enemy stations in that limited time frame with said crew. Don't even bring up Bortas or Vidar, you'd have to hit 100 times more with those ships. Also I use Saladin to punch up whales to let them run for their money with Kang Harrison HG Worf. Of course, I can't beat their Pilum with Sally, not even close, but I can guarantee them 500 times more repair cost to what I spend to repair on my Saladin. There's just nothing like Saladin in this game PERIOD.
I’ve never heard of anyone who has followed the strategy my brain came up with. And that is, to only upgrade saladin/centurion or more ships, that you know are short term, when you need to. When you need them to be stronger to finish dailies. Efficiency researches you have not done yet, mean you are paying double what you should. My centurion was t5 when I built my epic. The only downside was getting booted from armadas due to others having stronger centurions and saladin and the odd bortas. But a good team means everyone gets a spot every now and then, the ones missing out, pay attention and let them have a spot. But yes. Agree. Saladin uses crystal. Also, dailies are often pmc and killing explorers, as they are the easiest. Saladin is wrong triangle for explorers. And bottom line, saving 1500 unco gas on a t5 shield for my centurion, which ended up being about 700 when I eventually was maxing it to scrap, was a good saving. And i overtook other f2p players. So yeah, upgrade your ships if and when you need to is what I’d suggest.
As another Vi’Dar user until OP 34 I can say others won’t get it. The Vi’Dar is so cost effective repair and tier wise it’s amazing, I still use it for grinding hostiles even having a T6 Enterprise and D4
@@dameongreen6797 You arent wrong in that, but you get slowed down in tiering up by having one additional material to farm for, and that farm is throttled in addition to the refinery throttle. If you have it maxed before your epic, i'd say you ops to slowly, especially if you arent f2p. The vidar itself isnt very good in pve, but not that bad aswell, its basically a worse sally with a stupid firing pattern. If its better for hostile grinding as a T6 Ent or D4? Depends what you are grinding. Ent/D4 can grind way higher and take next to 0 damage on lower hostiles. But even as a f2p until i got a lvl 42 i never had to care for repair cost effectiveness. I tried grinding with the vidar a few times back then, it just felt bad.
Yep, skip all the faction ships until the epics. The vidar can do pretty close to the same hostile grinding as the Saladin and so many things need crystal that it's probably just a waste of resources. My first account is at L45 and I loved the Sally when I was in the 20s and early 30s but there are so many more ships now it's probably not as important. My second account is at L25 and not planning on getting it.
So, Skip Saladin for the Intrepid ? Or skipping both until Enterprise ? I skipped the Enterprise and Intrepid before that but loosing a large alliance, I had to go start the Enty I was to loose fir ISS JellyFish. So skipping 2 general ships might be possible. Oh I am full FED only, and I NEED the Saladin to get the 41 and 42 in Gya'Han ... well guess what. Ops 38, I am GIVEN 41 and 42 in dailies for hunting 40 klingon BtlShp there. I assume it is a +2 somewhere due to Admired level or solo Faction or unnoticed bonus on Faction chosen in very early dilemna missions. If we have Any of the similar ship like Bortas ... the matter is simple
Love my Saladin, when I maxed it I finally felt like I was on par or ahead of members of my fleet.
With Rom in the game, Saladin became more important than previously with its big gun for base raiding.
Scrapped my OG Saladin yesterday. Never thought the day would come, but then I realized I have enough BPs to build five more...
You're missing out on a lot of good officers. by not going Federation from the start, and officers can make all the difference.
The short answer is no. The long answer is nooooooooo.
I love how withing 10 seconds back to back comments came through both supporting and hating the idea haha
@@RevDeuce you build hate towards yourself, and you are mocking the phenomenon.. for now.. just for now.
Ops 39 here. My sally is over 3 million power with territory and i still use it for pvp, hostile grind and base cracking. But mostly to show off to the other ops39s. Im not going to get into is it worth it or not. For me it was and i still use it alot.
The saladin was the hardest scrap I had to do, loved that ship.
Why would you scrap it, when it's so good?
g4 parts and g4 things@@gamewizard1760
Much needed resources
Crazy talk Rev lol prepare to defend against the pitchforks
I've got my bat'leth ready!
Good Vid Rev
is took forever to max that sally. still a great ship but i never scrapped it due to sentimental reasons
Or Vidar + Centurion
If i Play it again from the beginning, Legionary up to ops 34, and priority is to max Vidar as soon as you can
Street Hawk here, Rev.
Baby jelly could do it even with kras
Umm, Sally has been my go-to for a long time now, even though I have the E, Auger, and d4, cheap to repair, and solid preformer
For literally almost a year I've taken your advice on maxing this ship. And the DAY I finally painstakingly Max it. You release this video. #kersnap
Damn, sounds painful as hell
Great for ship parts (see yesterday's video!)
Lol!
Go bortas and save that uc gas for your epic most likely the enti at 34
I would say that if you're going to camp anywhere, you should build out the best ships for each class at that level. So, if you're going to camp at 29 for a while, then build up the Bortas/Sally/Cent. If you then camp at 35, build Ent/D4/Augur.
How do you start the game over? as in go create a new google account and all that jazz? or does scopely allow you to have 2 accounts now linked?
You can have one account per device. So 1 phone + 1 pc = 2 accounts
Great point!
Keep in mind I'm not saying don't build ANY level 28 ship, just specifically maybe not getting the Saladin
Thoughts?
Love the Saladin, but the crystal wall is real. No regrets getting it.
I got a better idea Rev, instead of an event giving out 45 million Parsteel how about a million uncommon crystal? Everyone wins.
Except the game lol
Because of the fun my Saladin has given me, she will never be scrapped.
Never call you stupid. Always glad to get someone's opinion about the game
Just started watching it. You right. If your going rom Klingon don’t build a Sally. She’s an crystal wh ore. So is a Vidar. Remember that
How are you building a Saladin if you don't go for Feds???
You get more ore than crystal (have the event/BP numbers, if you're curious)
@@RevDeuce That is most likely true, but would argue difference between ore and crystal is small while gas is worst out of 3, and to counter this you need more ore for progress your buildings than gas and crystal, so you should have more extra crystal to play with.
I really thought I’d use mine so much more but since I went into the 40s it’s been untouched
in the 40s only thing I can think to use it for is as a cheap base cracker
And i see ops50+ players use it, with their research its over 8 M in strength 😉
But i understand your wiew on this, and you may be logical right.
I built my first saladbin at lvl 45, then scrapped it same say
Saladbin lol
Can you make a new video or advise what is the best ship out of 42 uncommon ships for Armadas and solo Armada ?
the biggest flaw in your reasoning is thev limited ways the specialty ships can be upgraded. becuase you Cant get the special resources to upgrade those ships till you have built them first. unlike faction ships you can refine and save before building to get a jump on upgrades. the specialtys ships stay weak for too long compared because of this restriction.
My advice is to skip all ships until ops 60
What
I can see the point of view, and I thought the same at times, but I collect ships so I would still get it anyways
I still use the Sally at 39. I used the Sally so much from 28 to 39 before epic ships if I were to start over it would put more effort to max it
I still love my max Sally at ops 39.
2:16 Rev, do you mean this thing that Eco said would be fixed in the next update during an interview after the last DS9 arc? Lol
sI skipped the sally because i never got the tokens for it. I also abandonned my stella as i couldn't get the armadas for it.
Lmao you literally said it's "a relic of a bygone era" which is how one might describe a lightsaber, but come on, who doesn't want a lightsaber?! 😆🤣
*stares at the red lightsaber in the corner of his office*
You got me there
Too late😂. Maxed mine last month 👀🙄🥳.
Now onto the asinine usage of crystals in the buildings. Thanksssss Scopley 🙄
I do have to give a big thumbs up to Scopely for letting us buy a player that we wanted! Thank you!
On a pure cost basis the bortas is better & u can get the cloak and do those dailies well into the 40s but the sally is a better ship
I'm lvl 35 almost 36.
Never did get a Sally. Have the V'Dar and it has been awesome.
You think its awesome because you dont know better ;)
I loved the sally, it is a good all round ship. Just got an Augur and I’m loving it more as it takes less damage than my maxed sally
I am Klingon first and interceptor guy next and this ship is still my grinder at Ops 37. Gets dailies done fast.
