@@cronoesify The power of the 80s music my friend. If you watch action movies from the 80s, you will see a lot of them with background music that reminds you of quite some musics from this game. Advance Immediately is a good example.
The SA-X I think the thing is that it is highly advanced 8-bit. I mean I understand why you think it's not, after all the Atari 2500 is 8 bit and the difference between those games and this is gigantic. It looks almost 16-bit, because the hardware it originally ran on was powerful enough to be capable of higher color palettes and more advanced spritework and all that, but it still isn't 16 bit. This game is incredibly polished, but there is a huge jump from say Chrono Trigger or any 16 bit arcade cabinet to this game. Also nice name, Metroid is my favorite franchise of all time.
In my personal opinion: Best soundtrack and plot - Metal Gear 2 Best writing - Metal Gear Solid Best gameplay and graphics - MGSV Best ending - MGS3 Best bosses - MGS3 and Metal Gear Rising Personal favourite - MGS4 That being said, I love all the canon games (Yes, even the phantom pain, portable ops and rising)

Fudge Dunker Just listen to Assault on Precint 13 main theme and you'll understand why. Also Escape from New York OST, which is where Solid Snake character is based aswell.
Played this for the first time a couple of days ago. Great soundtrack indeed, specially gray fox and holly conversation themes, they really help deliver the feels
A lot of these remind me of the Rambo: First Blood Part II soundtrack. Especially 'Advance Immediately'. Like when Rambo is progressing through the jungle near the beginning.
Solid snake is literally Snake Plissken It's in the name If u want to know another cool inspiration Lookup the show UFO (70s) and Thunderbirds --- now compare it to Evangelion (UFO's premise and intro //// Thunderbirds cities that submerge during emergencies)
wish they remade this whole game on the new fox engine with an updated orchestrated OST. the atmosphere is so rich in this game. it's amazing what could be done
love this game, easily one of the best I've ever played even own copies of this soundtrack and the original game for MSX2 complete with original manual, box, cartridge, and floppy disk for saves its a shame most Metal Gear fans refuse to touch this one because it's 8-bit and not 3D
This is soo nostalgic for me i used to stay up till 2 am watching my sister play this game and it was so comfy and fun to watch especially late at night
Looks like a Metal Gear D model kit box art. And uniquely, the first Metal Gear unit officially owned by Big Boss or one of his counterparts that was built without the aid of Huey Emmerich, and without salvaged tech from prior creations like the AI weapons or the Shagohod, or other Metal Gears.
Pretty incredible soundtrack. It's great music to listen to when I'm trying to study/get work done. Definitely one of my favorite, if not favorite 8 bit soundtrack.
Dietmar Pichler You should listen to famicom (basically japan nes), the sound hardware is just so much better...I was mesmerized by the Castlevania 3 (Akumajou Densetsu) soundtrack...
That metal gear super looks like something from ma.K :) Edit: Turns out it is! In an interview with the designer he said he made the mech by starting with a ma.k. Krote kit and worked from there.
I loved this music so much.. The music influenced a comic my brother and I created as kids, which was like "our G.I JOE" (we were obsessed and had about 300 figures), but there is heavy Metal Gear influence as the characters created, were done in the spirit of both as we loved both growing up, we named the comic "Special Mission Force Valken".. We thought the dutch word for falcon sounded and looked cooler, and our teacher who was a veteran was Dutch. He was a combat medic, so we made a character after him and called him "Nine Line". The elite soldiers are not tied to any government and some are from other countries (we had exchange students in our school into the little comic we made and so many around the world love G.I JOE), since they are privately owned by a man (insanely rich), who was a soldier and also did not like the corruption he saw in the government. They fight a terrorist state we had named "Chaos". They were inspired by the Neo Nazi political party Golden Dawn, and various Communist/Marxist groups combined with radical Islamist. Chaos uses the ancient Greek symbol of Chaos for their flag. The game we created later in high school, was a tactical strategy RPG. It played like Front Mission, mixed with Shining Force and Final Fantasy Tactics. We are also of course making action figures even the vehicles land, sea and air type. G.I JOE is not cool like it once was, and we don't really see toys like that today, and its wild because we know a lot of boys would love that stuff. The action figures are also linked with the mobile game we are working on as well.
So I had a feeling that if I played the anthem tape to much I would fuck it up over time... By the way Part 2 sounds. I think I was correct. Also Love how they mention my hometown of Calgary for the Olympics. I am petty enough to say that makes this game my favorite game in the series now!!

Recently played this for the first time and the scoring blew me away. By far the best 8-bit era score I've ever heard
Incredible composition
Absolutely!
This game is a masterpiece.
The most underrated Metal Gear game, without any doubt! Also, has a AWSOME ost!
Thanks for posting it!
Awesome, I have literally the entire soundtrack on my I-Pod, great to go running to at the gym
Same here, it'a a great running soundtrack
Is this a reference to MGS4? ✌🏻
@@NicolasBahamondes You know iPods are a thing in real life, right?
Do you run faster when the alert soundtrack comes on?
Didn't know the soundtrack from this game was so good. Zanzibar Breeze is my personal favorite. Gives me chills every time I listen to it
I love how the soundtrack is very John Carpenter-esque. Definitely one of my favorite old school gaming osts.
How is it John Carpenter-esque? I'm not disagreeing, I'd love to hear some comparisons
Fudge Dunker
Just listen to Assault on Precint 13 main theme and you'll understand why. Also Escape from New York OST, which is where Solid Snake character is based aswell.
***** with a little Halloween III mixed in there in some songs.
cover art is absolutley amazing!
Yoshiyuki Takani. There's more (MGS1, 3. Also Macross and others). Bet you'll love it.
"Tears" is one of the most emotional tracks of ever!
The soundfont for the MSX is so soothing. It's probably my favourite 8-bit soundsystem. Metal Gear 2 shows how much was possible with its hardware!
It's a damn shame we didn't get remakes of MG 1 and 2 with the Fox Engine. Hopefully someday.
Played this for the first time a couple of days ago.
Great soundtrack indeed, specially gray fox and holly conversation themes, they really help deliver the feels
I refuse to believe this game came out in 1990.
A lot of these remind me of the Rambo: First Blood Part II soundtrack. Especially 'Advance Immediately'. Like when Rambo is progressing through the jungle near the beginning.
Fudge Dunker The "chasing the green berret" sure remembers me of Rambo: First Blood stealth scenes.
+Fudge Dunker
Absolutely no coincidence... :-D
My favourite ost
"Theme of Solid Snake" sure is a classic, John Carpenter's Escape From New York written all over it! (Yes I know it's intentional)
+TheIrishITFactor
You're so right. And the Escape From New York influence doesn't end there, ofcourse... ;-)
+John Hassink I love this entire soundtrack, it really is a gem.
Solid snake is literally Snake Plissken
It's in the name
If u want to know another cool inspiration
Lookup the show UFO (70s) and Thunderbirds --- now compare it to Evangelion
(UFO's premise and intro //// Thunderbirds cities that submerge during emergencies)
wish they remade this whole game on the new fox engine with an updated orchestrated OST. the atmosphere is so rich in this game. it's amazing what could be done
Same here. I would like to see a remake of the first two metal gear games.
+BOND don´t say it too loud cuz konami could do it, fail and finish it with a pricey tag.
hok hgj For the love of God don't give konami ideas >.
Am I supposed to concentrate in the game whit this amazing music playing in the background?
21:52 was stuck in my head for a week
It goes so hard!!! 😂 Epic soundtrack all around!!!
This is the best game ever made, with the best soundtrack. I adore it.
Lost opportunity for the Snes to have a port of this masterpiece...
Solid snakes theme on this game goes so f****** hard lol.
R.I.P Metal Gear 1987-2016.
+Maverick Hunter Zero 1987-2015*
2023: ALIVE
*1987-2008

love this game, easily one of the best I've ever played even own copies of this soundtrack and the original game for MSX2 complete with original manual, box, cartridge, and floppy disk for saves its a shame most Metal Gear fans refuse to touch this one because it's 8-bit and not 3D
this is prolly my favorite OST of any 8-bit era game. its just sooooooooooooo good.
I haven't played this but I saw some of a playthrough and was amazed by the soundtrack.
That artwork is amazing.
If they ever start making Metal Gear movies, I hope they start with Metal Gear 1 and 2 first. These games are really underrated
The era before Metal Gear Solid started.
I might be the only one, but this soundtrack helps me get to sleep, just something about it is relaxing.
9:10 is my favorite theme. Try listening to it at 1.5x speed, it sounds a lot cooler
Pretty incredible soundtrack. It's great music to listen to when I'm trying to study/get work done. Definitely one of my favorite, if not favorite 8 bit soundtrack.
Da Best! Thank You!!
One of those soundtracks that makes you want to become a video game composer!
Very-very cool OST!
As for me, the best soundtrack in this OST - Advance Immediately.
P.S. Greetings from Russia! Привет из России!
17:42 a wise soldier warns a naive, young soldier…them feels.
Beat the game a few months ago, but somehow im always returning to this soundtrack
This is what the real Metal Gear was born to new era with great ost and producer Kojima .
Mano... Escuto esse álbum pra dormir e ainda te falo! Gosto tanto da franquia que escutando o som posso ver o game kkk muito bom, que jogou sabe.
kkkkkkk, muito bom!
That Level 1 Warning goes so hard in MGS VR missions
I will always love the MG gaming series ........The soundtrack for part 2 is absolutely flawless!!
Loved listening to this back when I was writing my university assignments.
Wow. Thank Kojima Thank you Konami. Thank you Fox Hound.
I'm not an 80s kid but I love the vibe of 80s action flicks in this soundtrack
Great soundtrack but OMG, 3:11 raped my ears.
I really like the boss fight with the helicopter soundtrack, that make nice tempo to play.
Love how Solid Snake's theme is in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
Level 1 Warning is just too good!!!! I remember hearing a remixed version that you can listen to in MGS4! Epic!
This is 8-bit? MSX2 sound hardware seems very advanced, compared to NES or similar systems. That sounds great, could be a movie soundtrack.
Dietmar Pichler You should listen to famicom (basically japan nes), the sound hardware is just so much better...I was mesmerized by the Castlevania 3 (Akumajou Densetsu) soundtrack...
Konami is known for adding extra hardware to their cartridge-based games, be it for Famicom (VRC mapper chips) or MSX2 (SCC sound chip).
@Wallguardian the Castlevania 3 soundtrack is an assortment of pure excellence.
menudo juegazo, dios.. me lo habré pasado 10 veces lo menos
That metal gear super looks like something from ma.K :)
Edit: Turns out it is! In an interview with the designer he said he made the mech by starting with a ma.k. Krote kit and worked from there.
This is my 2nd favourite game of the series.
excellent soundtrack
Red Sun is beautiful
this cover is like the coolest fucking thing I've ever seen in my life
12:56 is my favorite track
Foda melhor game 8 bits que já joguei.
Amazing
Is it wrong to way that this is my favourite ost out of all the Metal Gear games? lol
As kid I always got confused with metal slug and metal gear solid. This kind of arts probably contributed to my confusion
49:58 is . . . pretty good
He really was the Big Boss
My favorite Metal Gear
I love Night Fall
26:06 is basically Rambo.
Gray fox theme 🥲🥲 so good
いいゲームだったし最後まで遊んだけどあのロード時間はないよなぁ…ROMなのに画面切り替えで1分近く待たされるとか後にも先にもこれしかない。
This chills me out
The Front Line
48:48 This song sounds like seals singing
A TRUE BATTLE GEAR!
52:25 OMG
I would love to see a remake of this game on modern hardware its music is great and the story is as well. Too bad we’ll never see it.
*This*... *THIS* is history.
3:10 AAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH
The best
amazing game
Metal Gear looks like something straight out of Maschinen Krieger.
Yeah kinda, I'm sure there was some inspiration there.
Its is! Theres an interview with the designer and he says it was mostly based on the ma.k. Krote.
We need a remake with that soundtrack...
🔥💥🔥
Shout-out to hideos tweet about this soundtrack and his nostalgia regarding it
With the first song you can figure out anything
That's awesome congratulations, but I think it's missing the "Night Fright" boss theme.
Kojima is a genious.
kojima is not a composer so what does this comment have to do with the soundtrack?
Nightfall (Holly's Theme) have a beautiful harmonica instrumentation thanks to the scc chip
it would be cool if you could make videos with the OST of all the C&C red alert series!
"Return to Dust" sounds like it would fit in Castlevania pretty easily.
So I had a feeling that if I played the anthem tape to much I would fuck it up over time... By the way Part 2 sounds. I think I was correct. Also Love how they mention my hometown of Calgary for the Olympics. I am petty enough to say that makes this game my favorite game in the series now!!
