Monty was crucial so many times... in 2004 he beat Tiger-Phil in the first fourball with Harrington. THAT was a statement. And remember how he won his singles match in 1999 in Brookline, despite being constantly booed and insulted. What a legend.
Monty was not always loved by many in the early years of his career. By the end of his Ryder Cup years, by God every European with an interest in golf venerated at his feet. A behemoth of the occasion, never losing a singles tie & the only European to hole the winning putt twice. As a fellow Scot, Monty was always a sporting hero of mine. Although I was repeatedly gutted for him in the Majors, his continued excellence in the Ryder Cup gave me so much joy over the years. Thank you Monty.
Unbeaten in the singles. A true Ryder Cup legend.
Thank you, Colin, for playing for Europe. You always played golf from the God's.
Colin Montgomerie IS The Ryder Cup, what a legend!
Absolute Ryder Cup legend. Thank you, Monty.
Colin had a great golf swing in his day. I do enjoy watching videos like this one.
That swing at 2.45 is ridiculous, so effortless
@@pjduff7577yeah babay!
He really didn’t lol
@@dav5595ok dav5595 how many order of merits you win expert ?
I can't speak to how textbook his swing was technically but I always thought his name should come up more when folks mentioned great tempos. Syrupy. Wonderful balance too.
One of my favourite ever players and an absolute Ryder Cup giant and legend! ⛳🏌️🏆💪🏼
Brilliant, just brilliant.
Saw him tee off with a driver at the Belfry many years back when I was a kid. Couldn’t believe the power of that swing - I was in shock. Tv gave it no justice !
I loved his swing, so smooth
I was lucky enough to be there on the Sunday and Monday for the singles..will never forget it..what an experience 🇪🇺🇬🇧⛳️
Two Molinaris, there's only two Molinaris. Fantastic. Cheers Monty you legend.
Majors !!!!! Is winning a major the sign of greatest, mental toughness & the undying will to win ? I would pick Monty in front of 30 former Major championship in my team.
Still can't believe he didn't win a major. He had nerves of steel in the RC same as Poulter.
Yes. Absolute shame. So many lesser players have won a major. Monty was good enough to win five or six.
Just saw him play today, at Wakanda in Des Moines Iowa, he is out driving guys 10 years younger.
I've always that Monty got a bad rep as a sourpuss, at least here in the States. I've always found him well spoken, positive minded and possessing a good sense of humor. "Christ. I hope this works." killed me.
Legendary and pure class
In my opinion second only to Seve in terms of European influence..talks nonsense at times but we'll forgive him.
Let's go 🇪🇺
Love the Valderrama story. I’d have been a bit gutted not to get the point after that battle against Hoch!
2010 best Ryder Cup for me
Well respected in Australia 🦘🇦🇺
Onya Monty 🍻
All time stud player
legendado
37 times table. Damn
The Septics dubbed him Mrs Doubtfire for years, big mistake! he made them all pay in the Ryder cup as Cptn and player, Legend!
You never see him and Laura Davis together...mmm
He refused to sign an autograph for me as 9 year-old kid at The Carrolls Irish Open in 1993 😠
That’s fine.
@@jordan-xe2ybthanks for clearing that up.
It's good that you have moved on with your life and not held a grudge
Wow , 30 years later you bring this up.
Formidable opponent, and all pie and cream for the cameras...
Saw him at the PGA at Wentworth being exceptionally grisly to a young lad who'd asked for an autograph (off the course). Utterly reprehensible.
Mrs Doubtfire AKA Colin Montgomerie!!!!
