No matter how many times I watch Goku transform for the first time, it never fails to be jarring to me. While Goku loves a good fight, he is usually happy-go-lucky and cheerful. That goes out the window when he transforms for the first time. You can see the struggle Goku has internally as he transforms. His “human” side tries its best to rein in the anger but the Saiyan side pushes through and that causes him to go Super Saiyan, which is why he tells Gohan to leave before “I lose what little sense of reason I have left”. Goku knows that his self-control is slipping and is afraid that Gohan will get hurt because of it. Later, we see him take all that anger out on Frieza, and it’s glorious.
Yep. I can't stress this enough. Frieza created his own monster. And it's so satisfying to see him finally get what's coming to him. 😊 Much like plenty of other despicable baddies and bullies, Frieza eventually pissed off the wrong person and it came back to haunt him so fast, he didn't see it coming until it was too late. 😊

This animation is so well done. Everything from the dramatic shots, The way the buildup sound cuts off before Krillin is blown up, The armour pieces falling down, Goku's head twitching at 2:13, The Hulk 2003 theme, And the way Goku's scream is extended makes this even better than the original scene. Kudos to you, this probably took a lot of time to make.

It was mentioned in Super, just to be a confirmation that we already knew, that transforming into a Super Saiyan indeed was painful for him. But yeah, realistically it would make sense. Intense anger can and will push one past their physical limit. It's like a REALLY hyper focused adrenaline rush.

Fun fact, Toriyama actually wanted to make the Super Saiyan transformation red-eyed originally because it was birthed through negative emotions and it was bloodthirsty (he changed his mind eventually of course and went for green instead). This is also why Goku couldn't use the spirit bomb attack while transformed because his heart wasn't pure while in SSJ. But this scene right here encapsulates the intended vibe of the original transformation rather well (for a dub that is) as he was basically straddling between reason and insanity due to Krillin's death.

My favorite part was the close up shot on Frieza's eye at 3:07. It being wide open with it being illuminated by the ominous and bright glow from a powerful being as well as the music illustrates the shock and horror the villain felt when he saw the very thing he feared to face.
I love the additional tidbits you added here, especially that shot of Goku's Super Saiyan aura being reflected in Frieza's eye as he sweats and trembles in fear.

The suspense that there is during goku's transformation, the background music and in general the setting of this feels like a horror movie, seeing goku have those tremors and those flashes of super sayan with those sounds of moans of frustration and pain, it seems that he is going to convulse but it is something else and everyone's reaction is one of total confusion and Nervousness and fear when adding all those elements, really that scream of anger from Goku fits perfectly into that atmosphere of tension with that horror movie style, and when he finally explodes in Super Sayan's transformation it feels like something Frieza should never have done and in doing so unleashed something he never should have done. It really manages to transmit in an incredible way all the emotions that the video seeks to transmit, it fits like a It's a ring on my finger to put such an intense suspense on this moment, because it really fits with the idea that no one really expected this to happen. My respects. Akira Toriyama Rest in Peace.

i cant stop watching this. ive watched the entire series starting way back when i was a child. and to see just how many times this 1 scene has been remastered by both fans and the makers. it truly proves this is the most important moment in dragon ball history
This is absolutely spectacular the soundtrack they used was perfect I felt like the original was always missing something and you made it perfect and that voice crack when he went Super Saiyan was perfect because it doesn't sound like acting it sound like he was genuinely screaming and the way he Yelled at Gohan actually sounded like a parent needing to repeating themselves and the horror movie feel to it at the start and when his hair flashes yellow for the first time really set the tone.
I would totally love to see you do Gohan's first SSJ2 transformation during the Cell Saga. I would totally love to see something as spine chilling as that scene done by you.

My favorite part was the close up shot on Frieza's eye at 3:07. It being wide open with it being illuminated by the ominous and bright glow from a powerful being as well as the music illustrates the shock and horror the villain felt when he saw the very thing he feared to face.

The suspense that there is during goku's transformation, the background music and in general the setting of this feels like a horror movie, seeing goku have those tremors and those flashes of super sayan with those sounds of moans of frustration and pain, it seems that he is going to convulse but it is something else and everyone's reaction is one of total confusion and Nervousness and fear when adding all those elements, really that scream of anger from Goku fits perfectly into that atmosphere of tension with that horror movie style, and when he finally explodes in Super Sayan's transformation it feels like something Frieza should never have done and in doing so unleashed something he never should have done. It really manages to transmit in an incredible way all the emotions that the video seeks to transmit, it fits like a It's a ring on my finger to put such an intense suspense on this moment, because it really fits with the idea that no one really expected this to happen.

This is absolutely spectacular the soundtrack they used was perfect I felt like the original was always missing something and you made it perfect and that voice crack when he went Super Saiyan was perfect because it doesn't sound like acting it sound like he was genuinely screaming and the way he Yelled at Gohan actually sounded like a parent needing to repeating themselves and the horror movie feel to it at the start and when his hair flashes yellow for the first time really set the tone.
