Another terrific demo. Not just the techniques, but the philosophy: Do all our little "mistakes" matter? Nope. Enjoy the process and time spent creating. Thank you!
Fell in love with Staithes when I went back in the 80s..beautiful little village..Hope it hasn’t changed!Great little painting Doug, you have knack with drawing boats, love all the details..you make it look so easy!Like the use of the masking fluid,I have a bottle unopened along with my inks..must use them!!Thanks for the encouragement and your little pun made me laugh..tie it together 😂…thanks for sharing!❤
Glad you enjoyed it. Get out those ink and masking fluid and have a play. 😁😁 since the 80's Staithes is pretty much all holiday cottages and no actual residence. It has massively changed the character of the place but not the fabric.
I so enjoyed this video! I hadn't even noticed the 'mistakes' until you pointed them out and, you're right they don't matter. Your picture is lovely, thank you. Enjoy the sun were getting.
Thank you for pointing out the things most of us would consider errors in our own sketches. We never seem to be as critical of others as we are of ourselves. Thank you for another great tutorial !
That's very true and managing to see ares where we could improve rather than phrasing it in a negative way. I known bang on alot about it but negative self talk an ruin art enjoyment. 🎨
I like your "embrace the errors" vibe. That feeling makes my efforts more enjoyable as my sketching at this early stage is usually full of "errors". Apologies for the rabbit ears.
I love lay flat signature sketchbooks. I am experimenting with making my own sketchbooks. Going to have signatures (each section is called a signature) of various paper, cold, hot and sketch. Maybe some black or toned paper too.
I’ve made a few of my own sketchbooks and watercolor sketchbooks like this, using signatures of folded paper, making threading holes and Coptic stitching. It’s not that easy at least for my old hands. It made my hands ache, well, my knuckles! lol I love the look though!
@@dougjacksonart it took awhile but I’m sure once you get a hang of it, it goes faster. Then again, I’m retired, but have a very needy little parrot who demands my time and attention. So when I really need to concentrate, I wait until she’s asleep. lol
I loved this tutorial - just starting off with pen and wash, really helpful. Great to hear your comments as you drawn and paint too
Glad you found it useful. There is loads more content on this channel. Roam around and enjoy. Thanks for commenting. It means a lot 😀
