Great video on how to perform a critical leak down test on a 2 stroke. Had same problem with a 75 RD350 with the intake manifolds leaking fuel but never surging. Still a bad situation that would eventually doom the engine. Solved the problem with new intake manifolds from HVC Cycle. Also used two gaskets on each side with one between engine block to reed block and one between reed block to intake manifold. Yamabond also employed at gasket surfaces. Running great with no fuel leaks for several years now.

About a year ago I sold one exactly like that one, but it had about 3000 original miles. I shipped it from Washington state to Dubai. The new owner loves it.

Those made great road racers I would ride mine to school during the week and race WERA races on the weekends. The amount of abuse these bikes would take was amazing.

Be very aware that ethanol contaminated gasoline dissolves RTV & silicone engine sealants, very quickly (within 50 miles around crankcases)!!
Always use sealant labelled as ETHANOL RESISTANT (Hylomar, etc.) when rebuilding & sealing any 2 stroke engine.

You always have to use gaskets on both sides of the reed block. The intake manifold rubber isn't a good enough seal by itself. Put a straight edge on the head to see if its flat.

Should the engine be BDC or TDC? or does it matter? also would the procedure be the same on a single cyl? top or bottom dead center?

How important is the crank seal? I forgot to put mine in rd350, wat r the odds??

In my opinion taking off top end to just flaten the surface of intake would be nonsens. Liquid sealant was best solution in this case.

MR and MT were the two stroke Honda equivalents.

      I don't have any DT's but I have a few RT360's. And a YZ250. And a few parts bikes SC500.
