My grandmother gave me this model typewriter when I was seven years old. I am in my early 60’s now and I still have it. Alas, the outer case was damaged in a car accident when I was moving but the machine is still intact. I need to fix the draw band and clean it up.
Thanks for showing this little beauty off.

Mine is a 1940, 2nd generation. I fixed it. It is unique. Very basic, simple, bare bones. Someone, probably decades ago, filed down the right margin stop which makes sense since there is no bell and no line lock. The left margin stop is a typical Remington hard stop, no finicky behavior like on other brands. I think my seller couldn’t get it to work so gave up. I figured out the front of the frame was curved inwards. I straightened it as much as I dared and it works now. There are other mechanical things I could address but I don’t really use it. It will fill a page as it is now.

Fun! I received mine from my girlfriend. I bought a few random typewriters online, and at the local 2nd hand stores then she told me she had one in a case back at her apartment. I am working on it as I watch your video (the ribbon vibrator wasn't moving - so I pulled some of it apart, got it working, then needed a picture as to how the ribbon advance mechanism worked).
The video doesn't show just how small these really are. I think it will be a fun machine to bring to my car shows and tinker with while we people watch.
Do you know where the serial numbers are on these? My Smith Corona and Royal machines are pretty self evident to find.
Really enjoy your vides, thank you.

The SN can be tricky to find. I get out a flashlight and glasses. I haven't seen a Remington Remette in a couple of years so don't recall where it is. Sometimes the SN is on a metal plate BEHIND the keys. Otherwise, other places are under the carriage or stamped into the frame near the spools. Good luck!

This is a very informative video! Thank you for posting it!
I just saw one of these at a second hand store this afternoon. I didn't purchase it, but might sleep on it tonight... it was really cute and small!
I checked the links in this video, but couldn't get them to work. Did you end up scanning and owner's manual for this typewriter on your website, and is it available for free?

Hey lady! Good to hear from you. I recently switched servers and long story short, need to rebuild all my pages. The home page is fine: www.jotandtittletypewriters.com. I will probably have to dig to find the files for this typewriter. Been overwhelmed juggling my magazine business and finding time for the typewriters as well. I have a couple of weeks to try to rebuild so I'll make sure I'll add a page with typewriter manuals. 🥰

@@JotTittleVintageTypewriters Oh my goodness! I couldn't even begin to imagine the workload you're managing right now. Take your time, and no rush at all.
      Thanks for the reply!

I found a Remington Remette in my local antique store
But I’m not able to get the carriage to move while typing
It only moves when I press the space bar.

Hmmm. That's a question for my hubby or another repair person. I don't know off hand and hubby isn't home right now. :)

Mine had that problem, turned out the space bar was rubbing against the front of the frame. I rigged up a jig in my wood shop and very carefully straightened it a few millimeters. But it could be any number of things.
