When I ordered these I won't lie, I didn't have great expectations, but once I received them it became immediately clear these were not your average earbuds. The sound quality is some of the clearest, most detailed I've ever heard. I have a few different brands and models of flagship earbuds that have excellent ANC, but the Momentum 3's are the only ones that I can't hear nearly anything inside my room where I have one fan, air conditioner and a television running at all times. The only thing I can hear is the television, but only very slightly. Impressive. My initial experience with the sound quality was immediate satisfaction - something that I tend spend hours to achieve with other earbuds. Lastly is the build quality which is second to none. What made the experience even better was the fact that I found these listed as refurbished sold directly from Sennheiser for $149. When they showed I couldn't distinguish them from brand new and judging by the battery life they have almost no time on them. Overall this was a two thumbs up buy and from now on I'll be checking out refurbished equipment in the future.
I’ve easily tried 20 different pairs of earbuds and these are by far my favorite TWE. I loved the MW2’s but they lacked the quality of life features that I love (wireless charging, mono mode). These nail it.

These definitely sound like an upgrade from the MTW2 but, hopefully, the bugs you experienced will get sorted out soon. I agree with you 100%. All of the problems and issues should be taken cake of before release (especially considering the price and the amount of time they've had since the MTW2 can out). All things considered, they still sound like exceptional buds but I'll hold my purchase until Sennheiser gets things fixed. Thank you for another awesome review! 👍

The Momentum 2s have been my #1 sounding bud for a long time. Definetly getting the 3s based on your review. Hopefully ironed out the kinks before then.

Hopefully most if not all will be fixed with future updates. I currently have the XM4's but aside from the ANC I'm not too impressed with them - especially bass and volume-wise (I have some hearing loss so I need a lot of volume and bass). I initially got them just for leisure and making phone calls while I bought the new Project Rock over-ear headphones for the gym. Unfortunately over-ear headphones make me way too hot, so I had to end up using the XM4's for the gym and the Project Rocks for casual listening. I got tired of the lack of bass and volume from the XM4's so I brought out my Soundpeats H1's to use for the gym instead; which have awesome volume and bass. Sounds like the Senny 3's would be excellent for the gym. Thanks for this awesomely detailed review!

They're such amazing earphones and even tho I've always preferred earbuds with more bass, they truly made me appreciate the overall sound quality. These Momentum 3's might be my next investment!
AAC is far less taxing to the battery than aptX: AAC has less data transfer than aptX. That doesn't necessarily mean that aptX is the superior codec. Great review, as always!

As an extremely happy MTW2 daily user, I'm even happier to say that the new MTW3 buds are noticeably better sounding, better fitting, nicer looking, and have very nice noise canceling. The ui control options and layout is better too. The fit inside the ear is more comfortable for me thanks to the new silicone fitting that hugs the outer part of the ear hole entrance. I thought the spec differences weren't going to be anywhere as noticeable as they are but these sounds quite a bit better to me. I also love the bass boost option for much of the music I listen to. They really did it right on these as I love intense punchy bass without muddling up the mids and highs and my God, these are perfect imho. I've owned every high end bud I can find so far and nothing has stood up to the MTW2's until now. If you already own the 2's and want to know of its worth the upgrade, I say it absolutely is! The sound quality is amazing, the punchy bass option is unbeatable for bass you can both feel and hear, and the noise canceling is so impressive. I have large tractor and zero turn mower with a large and loud engine right behind my head and I cannot even hear it with the MTW3's in. It's shocking actually. Couldn't be happier with these. Sennheiser killed it. Now I can't wait for whatever they do with the next gen in a few years.
Great review! I have similar issues with the left earbud you mention. It seems like a setting issue when syncing between the 2 ear buds. Placing the ear buds back in the case and putting them back in seems to momentarily fix it. Other issues are when adjusting the ear buds in the ear there is what seems like crackle/momentary pauses. When adjusting settings in the app like transparency or ANC, Bass Boost or Podcast there are clicks or pops (I guess this is intentional to let you know the setting is applied) For me fantastic buds but I don't think it's a "Massive" upgrade. ANC is temperamental at the moment and sometimes the earbuds seem out if sync as per what I mentioned above. It's worthy to note: When I connect the earbuds and I don't open the Sennheiser App then I don't seem to get a lot of these issues. It's only when I open the app in a session, even if I close it after. I'm hoping it's software issues and updates will resolve it. I actually didn't find the AirPods Pro that comfortable in my ears. The plastic irritated. I prefer the fins on the MTW3, it's a much more premium feel. Best fit for me is the Bose QC Wireless. Overall, issues aside I love the MTW3.
By the way guys, be careful when buying generic silicone ear tips for the MTW3. For those that haven't noticed the silicone ear tips for the MTW3 have foam inside, something that the MTW2 did not have (the foam on MTW2 was inside the ear bud canal) I just thought I'd let you all know in case you didn't spot this. Thank you for your work here mate. I'm looking at Samsung galaxy buds pro and then saw the Sennheiser momentum 3. Might hold off as I saw galaxy buds pro 2 are due for release soon or just go for these. My biggest thing for the ear buds is getting a decent soundstage for my music. And with most reviewers I just have to guess where it sits. You included not only the genre, but my favourite band as well as song. The Tampere version is absolute gold. Waiting for next Aus tour to see Nightwish live for third time. They have so much going on in the songs that I want a good ear bud to appreciate it all. Thanks again. I will check out some more reviews too. But pretty much settled on these or galaxy pro 2 when they release.

I'm waiting for the MTW4. There are still some things that I expected to be a lot better, like a more compact case and even more compact earbuds despite it being a bit improvement over the MTW2. The seamless connectivity is what I'm also waiting for. Once that's all sorted then I can get these. Hopefully the ANC and Ambient have improved significantly in the 4s and also the call quality and cancelling noise while using the microphone for calls and videos

Galaxy buds pro have bad anc compared to the 85ts imo, but also don't care that much about anc more care about sound of buds and so far prefer the 85t over the buds 2 pro, but am going to try these to see which is better

I currently have the Momentum 4 Over-ear headphones. How does the sound quality compare? My headphones get hot after long work sessions and just add to the heat in the shop so im looking for quality earbuds to take over for work time
I did compare the two in store quickly one time. Momentum 4 was slightly better in every way but similarly tuned. This was before the momentum 3 TWS sound personalisation though so the mom3 should have caught up a bit.
Hey! Thanks for great review! So, I have a question, and I hope you can answer this. I had three TWS lately, first the Jabra Elite 7 Pro with AAC support. Afterwards, Technics AZ60 with LDAC, and now the Sennheiser MTW3 with Aptx + Aptx adaptive. I'm rocking a Samsung S22 Ultra Exynos in Europe, and it has support for LDAC and Aptx, not Aptx adaptive. The sound quality of the Technics AZ60 running LDAC, compared to the Jabra Elite 7 Pro which "only" had AAC, was a big win for LDAC, no competition at all! But now, and here's my question, the MTW3 doesn't run Aptx adaptive on my Samsung, it's only Aptx. But STILL, I struggle to hear a quality difference between the Technics AZ60 and the MTW3. My music source is Tidal HiFi 1411 kbps. Is normal Aptx quality close to LDAC, or is the quality of the MTW3 superior to the Technics, making it difficult to hear the difference? How much am I missing out on compared to the Aptx adaptive? Thanks in advance!
Firmware 2.6.8 released to my MTW3 yesterday fixes a lot of the issues mentioned and that I mentioned in my previous comments. ANC Switching in the App Bluetooth improvements which seems to me to have resolved my issue where it seemed like one earbud was cutting out. It seems a big version jump over 2.4.x so I expect there is a treasure trove of under the hood fixes and improvements. Cheers!
After running 2.6.8 for a while look out for 2 potential bugs... Connection bug: When I take the earbuds out of the case I get "Connecting, no connection, connecting, no connection" and then I have to manually connect. It isn't every time but more often than not. Calling bug: When I receive a call and it ends, the music only resumes in the left ear bud. After s few minutes the right ear bud says "Power ON" and then music resumes Normally minus ANC. I have to go in to smart control main menu and this is enough to initialise ANC. Final thoughts are these MTW3 are extremely buggy and the firmware is Beta at best. It's disappointing but I'm optimistic.
Nice shirt ive seen Amon Amarth a few times great band. I have the first gen momentums and love them but the left ear bud no longer has audio coming through it. The touch controls work but wont play audio. I might hold out for the 4th gen im not shur yet. What are the bugs people are reporting with these ?
I hope these last longer than the 1's and 2's. The left bud stopped working after about a year on the 1st gen. Sennheiser replaced them with 2nd gen. Left earbud stopped working after 6 months on new pair of 2nd gen. Sent in for repair. 'Repaired' left bud stopped working after 3 months.This was now past 2 year original warranty, so Sennheiser would do nothing for buds less than a year old.
The product code for True Wireless series since 1st version all started with M3IETW M3IET2 M3IETW3. Does the M3 in front mean all of them are under "Momentum 3" series all the while?
Great video. I have smaller ear cannals but the Jabra 75T was fine for me no issues. Would this be ok ? The samsung buds 2 pro are ok but do fall out sometimes for me
I've always liked Sennheiser for their quality over ear headphones. And now I'm looking for wireless in ear ones. There are so many brands and without trying some it's hard to choose. It's all about personal preferences and stuff too. Everyone experiencing them differently. I'm all about subwoofer bass for music, videos. But also liking clear instruments and voices. JBL seems to have pure bass and good clarity sound. But also Sennheiser seems to have good ones. These Momentum 3 is their latest as far as i know. What about bugs and features updates since this video?
If it was just the sound I wouldn’t say so. It’s all the other upgrades that makes it worth it. Plus the upgrades to come, multipoint and high end sound tuning. So with all that then yes it’s worth the money I’d say
So are you using the out of box sound or are you using a eq setting? I agree that these sound better than the MTW 2 without any EQ and even if the MTW 2 had the high end sound tuning function enabled. That Bass slams and everything else collaborates and compliments the sound eloquently.
@@pickyaudio I set my treble to +2 and seems to open them up more and i cannot seem to make them sound better than that but in my view, it does help these sets.
I’ve had the MTW2 for about a year and just picked up the MTW3. I hear only a marginal improvement in sound quality, at best, and that is using the same Comply foam ear tips on both sets of earbuds.
ANC I've noticed a big improvement from the 2s and as for the sound... I still think the 2's sounded tremendous so having the same or only slightly better with better ANC... Smaller/better fitting form factor it's a win, hard to find anything better in my opinion... Also don't forget you can now charge your case up wirelessly with your phone.
@@Jjengering I’ll take your word on the ANC. I returned them before I had a chance to really test out the noise-canceling. For me, the marginal sound improvement in sound quality and wireless charging wasn’t worth $250.00 when I already had the MTW2. Maybe I expected too much. I purchased the Sony XM4, which I prefer to the MTW3.

I sent these back. Good sound but not a great fit for my ears. Also the case was just way to big for my liking. Case size is now actually where I start when searching for earbuds.Then I narrow down by best sound, features and etc. Another good video. Keep em coming.

The mom 3 are more balanced to the point where you can’t even EQ them to get to the level of bass of all those buds. So pure sound quality and clarity is an easy win for the mom 3. If you like more subwoofer like bass then the 75t is the best
Listened to on my TWM3's. Overall, they have good sound quality, good ANC, good transparency, feature packed. The issue is, almost every feature is bugged somehow, almost to the point of being none existent. Single earbud use is incompatible with transparency mode. Wireless Charging stops after a few seconds across multiple wireless chargers. Switching between devices is extremely difficult and time consuming because you cannot hijack a connection, but instead you have to go through the app, which takes about 1 minute of loading for you to get to the screen to select which device is going to be connected, so just enough time for you to miss the phone call. If you have a Iphone and a Android, you can only control the buds from 1 or the other via the app. So lets say you have them connected to your computer, and you get a phone call on your work iphone, but the buds are controlled through your android phone, you gotta grab your android, wait 1 minute and click 3 different times to change the connect from the PC to the iPhone..... They often will continue to maintain a BT connection and even play music while in the case, thus draining the battery. So if you think just putting the buds in the case at 80%, then on a wireless charger is going to yield a fully charged headset, think again, its more likely that you'll come back to a dead set of buds. The launch of these headphones is about on par with $20 cheapos you'd pick up at a gas station, simply due to all the bugs.

I just bought this earbuds. But the volume is too low, even when maxing out the eq they don't seem to get louder than 80 dB. Does anyone have any tips to get the volume louder?

Note that my device supports Bluetooth 5.0 codec, but it has aptx technology, and I cannot use it. Would like to know what your girl friend likes to wear. I’ve been having a hard time finding a pair that fits. I’ve tried Apple AirPods Pro, beats fit pro, and Jaybird vista 2. They are either too big and don’t stay in to are so big they cause pain.
@@pickyaudio also the stock tips of the mt3 now have the built-in wax guard so replacement tips don't have these and could cause a problem with the ear buds as the ear buds don't have the guard built into the buds. version 2s had the wax guard built into the earbud

I'm also wondering, in the past incarnations of MTWs, call controls are not changeable. Are they changeable on MTW3?
That’s not always the case, testing other buds it’s usually pretty close but not with the mom 3 I guess. Call controls still aren’t changeable

The ui control options and layout is better too. The fit inside the ear is more comfortable for me thanks to the new silicone fitting that hugs the outer part of the ear hole entrance. I thought the spec differences weren't going to be anywhere as noticeable as they are but these sounds quite a bit better to me. I also love the bass boost option for much of the music I listen to. They really did it right on these as I love intense punchy bass without muddling up the mids and highs and my God, these are perfect imho. I've owned every high end bud I can find so far and nothing has stood up to the MTW2's until now. If you already own the 2's and want to know of its worth the upgrade, I say it absolutely is! The sound quality is amazing, the punchy bass option is unbeatable for bass you can both feel and hear, and the noise canceling is so impressive. I have large tractor and zero turn mower with a large and loud engine right behind my head and I cannot even hear it with the MTW3's in. It's shocking actually. Couldn't be happier with these. Sennheiser killed it. Now I can't wait for whatever they do with the next gen in a few years.

I have similar issues with the left earbud you mention. It seems like a setting issue when syncing between the 2 ear buds.
Placing the ear buds back in the case and putting them back in seems to momentarily fix it.
Other issues are when adjusting the ear buds in the ear there is what seems like crackle/momentary pauses.
When adjusting settings in the app like transparency or ANC, Bass Boost or Podcast there are clicks or pops (I guess this is intentional to let you know the setting is applied)
For me fantastic buds but I don't think it's a "Massive" upgrade. ANC is temperamental at the moment and sometimes the earbuds seem out if sync as per what I mentioned above.
It's worthy to note:
When I connect the earbuds and I don't open the Sennheiser App then I don't seem to get a lot of these issues. It's only when I open the app in a session, even if I close it after.
I'm hoping it's software issues and updates will resolve it.
I actually didn't find the AirPods Pro that comfortable in my ears. The plastic irritated.
I prefer the fins on the MTW3, it's a much more premium feel.
Best fit for me is the Bose QC Wireless.
Overall, issues aside I love the MTW3.

For those that haven't noticed the silicone ear tips for the MTW3 have foam inside, something that the MTW2 did not have (the foam on MTW2 was inside the ear bud canal)

Thank you for your work here mate. I'm looking at Samsung galaxy buds pro and then saw the Sennheiser momentum 3. Might hold off as I saw galaxy buds pro 2 are due for release soon or just go for these. My biggest thing for the ear buds is getting a decent soundstage for my music. And with most reviewers I just have to guess where it sits. You included not only the genre, but my favourite band as well as song. The Tampere version is absolute gold. Waiting for next Aus tour to see Nightwish live for third time. They have so much going on in the songs that I want a good ear bud to appreciate it all.

I'm waiting for the MTW4. There are still some things that I expected to be a lot better, like a more compact case and even more compact earbuds despite it being a bit improvement over the MTW2. The seamless connectivity is what I'm also waiting for. Once that's all sorted then I can get these. Hopefully the ANC and Ambient have improved significantly in the 4s and also the call quality and cancelling noise while using the microphone for calls and videos

Galaxy buds pro have bad anc compared to the 85ts imo, but also don't care that much about anc more care about sound of buds and so far prefer the 85t over the buds 2 pro, but am going to try these to see which is better

I currently have the Momentum 4 Over-ear headphones. How does the sound quality compare? My headphones get hot after long work sessions and just add to the heat in the shop so im looking for quality earbuds to take over for work time
I did compare the two in store quickly one time. Momentum 4 was slightly better in every way but similarly tuned. This was before the momentum 3 TWS sound personalisation though so the mom3 should have caught up a bit.

So, I have a question, and I hope you can answer this. I had three TWS lately, first the Jabra Elite 7 Pro with AAC support. Afterwards, Technics AZ60 with LDAC, and now the Sennheiser MTW3 with Aptx + Aptx adaptive. I'm rocking a Samsung S22 Ultra Exynos in Europe, and it has support for LDAC and Aptx, not Aptx adaptive. The sound quality of the Technics AZ60 running LDAC, compared to the Jabra Elite 7 Pro which "only" had AAC, was a big win for LDAC, no competition at all! But now, and here's my question, the MTW3 doesn't run Aptx adaptive on my Samsung, it's only Aptx. But STILL, I struggle to hear a quality difference between the Technics AZ60 and the MTW3. My music source is Tidal HiFi 1411 kbps. Is normal Aptx quality close to LDAC, or is the quality of the MTW3 superior to the Technics, making it difficult to hear the difference? How much am I missing out on compared to the Aptx adaptive?

Firmware 2.6.8 released to my MTW3 yesterday fixes a lot of the issues mentioned and that I mentioned in my previous comments.
ANC Switching in the App
Bluetooth improvements which seems to me to have resolved my issue where it seemed like one earbud was cutting out.
It seems a big version jump over 2.4.x so I expect there is a treasure trove of under the hood fixes and improvements.

After running 2.6.8 for a while look out for 2 potential bugs...
Connection bug:
When I take the earbuds out of the case I get "Connecting, no connection, connecting, no connection" and then I have to manually connect.
It isn't every time but more often than not.
Calling bug:
When I receive a call and it ends, the music only resumes in the left ear bud. After s few minutes the right ear bud says "Power ON" and then music resumes Normally minus ANC.
I have to go in to smart control main menu and this is enough to initialise ANC.
Final thoughts are these MTW3 are extremely buggy and the firmware is Beta at best.
It's disappointing but I'm optimistic.

Nice shirt ive seen Amon Amarth a few times great band. I have the first gen momentums and love them but the left ear bud no longer has audio coming through it. The touch controls work but wont play audio. I might hold out for the 4th gen im not shur yet. What are the bugs people are reporting with these ?

I hope these last longer than the 1's and 2's. The left bud stopped working after about a year on the 1st gen. Sennheiser replaced them with 2nd gen. Left earbud stopped working after 6 months on new pair of 2nd gen. Sent in for repair. 'Repaired' left bud stopped working after 3 months.This was now past 2 year original warranty, so Sennheiser would do nothing for buds less than a year old.

I've always liked Sennheiser for their quality over ear headphones. And now I'm looking for wireless in ear ones. There are so many brands and without trying some it's hard to choose. It's all about personal preferences and stuff too. Everyone experiencing them differently.
I'm all about subwoofer bass for music, videos. But also liking clear instruments and voices.
JBL seems to have pure bass and good clarity sound. But also Sennheiser seems to have good ones.
These Momentum 3 is their latest as far as i know. What about bugs and features updates since this video?

If it was just the sound I wouldn’t say so. It’s all the other upgrades that makes it worth it. Plus the upgrades to come, multipoint and high end sound tuning. So with all that then yes it’s worth the money I’d say
So are you using the out of box sound or are you using a eq setting? I agree that these sound better than the MTW 2 without any EQ and even if the MTW 2 had the high end sound tuning function enabled. That Bass slams and everything else collaborates and compliments the sound eloquently.

I’ve had the MTW2 for about a year and just picked up the MTW3. I hear only a marginal improvement in sound quality, at best, and that is using the same Comply foam ear tips on both sets of earbuds.
ANC I've noticed a big improvement from the 2s and as for the sound... I still think the 2's sounded tremendous so having the same or only slightly better with better ANC... Smaller/better fitting form factor it's a win, hard to find anything better in my opinion... Also don't forget you can now charge your case up wirelessly with your phone.

For me, the marginal sound improvement in sound quality and wireless charging wasn’t worth $250.00 when I already had the MTW2. Maybe I expected too much. I purchased the Sony XM4, which I prefer to the MTW3.

I sent these back. Good sound but not a great fit for my ears. Also the case was just way to big for my liking. Case size is now actually where I start when searching for earbuds.Then I narrow down by best sound, features and etc. Another good video. Keep em coming.

The mom 3 are more balanced to the point where you can’t even EQ them to get to the level of bass of all those buds. So pure sound quality and clarity is an easy win for the mom 3. If you like more subwoofer like bass then the 75t is the best

I sent my mm3. Just didnt fit properly, and because it didn't fit properly the ANC and sound quality wasn't good. Same happened with mm2.
Listened to on my TWM3's. Overall, they have good sound quality, good ANC, good transparency, feature packed. The issue is, almost every feature is bugged somehow, almost to the point of being none existent. Single earbud use is incompatible with transparency mode. Wireless Charging stops after a few seconds across multiple wireless chargers. Switching between devices is extremely difficult and time consuming because you cannot hijack a connection, but instead you have to go through the app, which takes about 1 minute of loading for you to get to the screen to select which device is going to be connected, so just enough time for you to miss the phone call. If you have a Iphone and a Android, you can only control the buds from 1 or the other via the app. So lets say you have them connected to your computer, and you get a phone call on your work iphone, but the buds are controlled through your android phone, you gotta grab your android, wait 1 minute and click 3 different times to change the connect from the PC to the iPhone..... They often will continue to maintain a BT connection and even play music while in the case, thus draining the battery. So if you think just putting the buds in the case at 80%, then on a wireless charger is going to yield a fully charged headset, think again, its more likely that you'll come back to a dead set of buds.
The launch of these headphones is about on par with $20 cheapos you'd pick up at a gas station, simply due to all the bugs.

I have both and the Bowers & Wilkins PI7 is a edge better in sound quality, but not by much. Everything is else is better on Sennheiser in my opinion.

Official battery life is ANC OFF 7 hours, ANC ON 6.5 hours and that is using AAC at 50% Volume.

Would like to know what your girl friend likes to wear. I’ve been having a hard time finding a pair that fits. I’ve tried Apple AirPods Pro, beats fit pro, and Jaybird vista 2. They are either too big and don’t stay in to are so big they cause pain.
She loves the Earfun free pro, she’s been using them for almost 2 years now with no issues. They might work for you but you never know for sure

@@pickyaudio also the stock tips of the mt3 now have the built-in wax guard so replacement tips don't have these and could cause a problem with the ear buds as the ear buds don't have the guard built into the buds. version 2s had the wax guard built into the earbud
