I don't play brewmaster and don't really have any intentions to but I could listen to you talk about wow all day. I had a great time learning from this video and I love the way you talk about the game. Watched the whole thing through and I wish there were more videos like this, keep it up.
That was the best guide and general spec insight I've have ever seen. Thanks a lot. Now I also understand why Max is so fond of you. The way you explained it all made the skill interaction very perspicuous.
Seriously thank you for this Dratty, this game can be very overwhelming for someone with minimal time to play, this makes me much more interested in logging in the game
Long time main tank (prot warrior and veng DH) that just started up a brewmaster for my main alt (and loving it). This guide was super incitefull and in depth without dragging anything unimportant out. Also very laid back vibe, grrat giide/content
Great video Dratnos, thank you for all the information. Been looking forward to gearing up my BrM tank alt and this guide gave a lot of insight. Going over the Talents was extremely useful and explained them better than just reading over a guide for me.
Two addition 'weird' things about Brew that aren't listed in the tooltips.. Celestial Fortune increases all shields on you (I think the value is 80% of your crit, so with 38% crit it increases shields by 30%). This is what makes brew really like shielding items/trinkets. Gift of the Ox talent that gives a healing orb when you take damage, it's not really a 'chance' when you take damage. One always spawns every time you take 100% of your health pool in pre-mitigated damage.
19:02 Not a bug, in fact weapons of order tooltip is being changed in 10.1.5 to include mentioning you gain WoO stacks by pressing Keg Smash AND Rising Sun Kick solidifying that it is intended for RSK to give WoO stacks. A good WoO rotation would be WoO>Keg>RSK>Keg>filler until your next Keg, which will at this point give you the 4 max stacks of WoO
I think it actually also gave a stack before the tooltip wording got updated because back in shadowlands (and i guess ultimately prior to this expansion but before... warlords?) leveling up as a monk, and selecting 'brewmaster' as your spec, Keg Smash replaced Rising Sun Kick. So there was probably some similar I.D. sharing stuff behind the scenes in the code.
This type of guide is fantastic. Starting out with the bare basics and going really in depth where appropriate. I know it would be a tonne of work, but guides in this style for more classes would be amazing. Definitely worth considering for even more content though!
Great video! Quick note: Rushing jade wind also makes resonating fists proc more, although, I would say delivery is better for M+ in some cases, as you get 50% slow on mobs, which is REALLY useful for kiting, especially on fortified weeks
32:26 Mastery increases attack power, and since Celestial brew shield scales off attack power and is brew's best defence against magic damage mastery has decent defensive value vs magic
Thanks for this Dratnos, was trying to take my brew to the next level and feel like this guide was way better at explaining the things I needed than other guides that try to fit all of this info into 10 minutes
Really great breakdown, I hope they do something about the number of abilities in the war within like they did for Windwalker. I do not have enough keybinds to take all the talents I want to take.
As always your knowledge is incredible, thank you. If you took a little more time to prepare and organize and flying around so much which has nothing to do with what you're talkin about is a little distracting. Again fantastic information thank you. I really enjoy the brewmaster even more so because it's so under-represented, said this video has felt like a treat
i use doctorio's UI, slightly modified to move utility to the side and move the rotational abilities on the top row. i find that very intuitive and easy to check
An “issue” with s2 is alts are so easy to reroll, the new project is brewho, courtesy of Dratnos, looking forward to a season of m+ tanking. Does suck you want a lot of rare items like trinkets and the weapon as well as that stupid ring! A great video as always however, a big fan from EU!
if you went all the way to pick counterstrike in your talent tree, i suggest you drop dragonfire brew in favor of charred passions. You should always pair up charred passions with counterstrike, especially now when they work well together with our 4set (at least in m+). Also in class tree all those expel harm healing talents are way more powerful than you think they are :) in high keys expel harm has saved my life hundreds of times, since it can top you off from close to 0 to 100
When you use keg smash with the resetting breath of fire talent (i.e. always), how should you use Breath of Fire in your rotation? Is it okay to be skipping uses of the breath of fire, so long as you have the dot up at all times? M+ and Raid.
you could have gotten stagger to yellow or red on the dummy if you just hit him to get shuffle up and not standing backwards :D and you missed an important interaction from explosive keg to deal extra dmg on every hit for 3 seconds making it highly valuable to press spinning crane kick twice after
I can't help but feel high tolerance is a wasted 2 node once you have enough agility for 40% base stagger, because after shuffle this 2 point node is translating into like 1% additional stagger.
Rising sun kick giving a stack has been a thing since the beginning of the expansion. Weapons of orders description has been also changed on the ptr to include rsk giving a stack. So that seems to be an intended behaviour.
They are....sometimes very squishy in M+. Stagger tends to be a lot less effective on all the fast small hits instead of slow, big hits. Speaking as a healer, they are probably the tank that requires the most attention on my end in M+, because their damage mitigation profile just isn't as self-sufficient
The "when you take damage, you have a chance to summon a healing sphere" talent is a bit misleading. According to people in the monk discord it would be more accurate to say "When you have staggered 100% of your health, you will summon a healing sphere"

Imagine if dratnod made videos like this for every spec in the game. That would be the best thing ever.
Dratnod
I'd love to see Dratnod do this for Devastation Evoker.
yep, do that for every spec, when its outdated after like 3 months
thats why video guides are not that great because they get outdated very fast
That was the best guide and general spec insight I've have ever seen. Thanks a lot. Now I also understand why Max is so fond of you. The way you explained it all made the skill interaction very perspicuous.

just picked up brewmaster yester learning as I go, great vid in my humble openion

Probably the best spec guide i've watched for any tank. Please do the others!!
Agreed
So few guides actually discuss the basics and the core of a spec - this is excellent! Thank you so much Dratnos!
I’d love to see you do a guide like this for Veng DH or Prot Pally!
Thanks for the video!
Quick tip, the "grip" portion of Clash can be used as a stop on adds.

good call!
@@dratnos
Gift of the Ox and Expel Harm also scale with AP.
What a guide, i'm making a brewmaster now :3
Very good guide

Loved the part: "Roll - Makes you roll" ! I'm here ROFLing :P
Awesome Guide !!! There are few videos about Brewmaster Monk that are as good as this one
Comprehensive indeed. Good stuff
Max Exploding keg secondary dam by pressing two spinning crane kicks(global locked) right after keg. Also have RJW up
This is excellent! I have a jr brewmaster and it is a ton of fun. Appreciate the deep dive.
Currently playing fistweaver at 2500rio, and gathering gear to start playing brew as well. Just love the monk toolkit and feel
once a monk always a monk !
Very great guide to follow! Appreciate the detail and depth mr dratnos

Thanks for the guide, helpful for a new bm player like me :)

yo dude what is that addon/WA that shows you how much diminishing returns you're getting on your secondaries?
It says in the tool tip, Weapons of Order stacks up the dmg increase debuff
Yo this is FIRE
algo boost this vid rules
hope to see more of these!!

RSK giving a stack to weapons of order isnt a bug, it was a compensation buff for the trinket/externals nerf.

please, I need it for the algorithm. I need it so bad.
What kind of addon is that with the player's life indicator?
????😢
Looking for that 10.1.5 update in future weeks ❤
What is that weapon illusion enchant?
can u do a blood dk one too?
VDH next? Pls?
that awkward moment when you've been playing monk as an alt for years and did notice spinning crane kick pulls in orbs
Most of this is pretty natural with the class design but there were a few good tips for more experienced players.
Bonedust brew accounts for such a small percentage of my overall that I question why it's always taken.
RSK bomb marco plz and rings?
#showtooltip Rising Sun Kick
/cast Rising Sun Kick
/use Dragonfire Bomb Dispenser
That should work
Wonder why I never run into monk tanks in m+

Love BrM since Legion, Could definitely get some keybinds trimmed... it's too much.
for the algorithm!
I have always loved playing brewmaster but it just has to many buttons for me to make it fun its like playing piano
It doesn't take over 1 hour to explain it.
Bro doesnt have vivify on his bars rip.. unsubscribed and reported.
Planning to do this with all tank specs?
Sadly he usually only does a guide for whatever he mains
awesome guide, thanks !
