Thank goodness for the guru video guys like you for keeping the guys like me and my company from never ever running out of work to strip and correctly install your counter flashing keep up the shoddy crappsmanshitp. And please don’t reuse the old flashing definitely keep doing it your way PLEEEASE.
Thank goodnes for all you haters commenting and watching my "how to" videos and leaving comments with no reasoning why what I did was wrong! It makes me lots of money!
What caulking you recommend, I need to cover the groove in stucco wall where I will be cutting to fit the flashing, not sure what to use, also thanks for the video, I learn some good stuff
This masonry counter flashing was installed incorrectly, cutting straight through brick and mortar along the roof plane, where it is supposed to be many pieces embedded into the mortar joints, which allows proper expansion & contraction of each brick course, while undergoing seasonal temperature changes. When you cut through the bricks, you actually compromise the structural integrity of the brick unit, and also interlock the different courses of brick. This type of flashing will have to be re-caulked every 1 to 5 years.
How wide of a strip of sheet metal did you use to fabricate the counter flashing at 8:30 (brick headwall behind porch roof)? How deeply does it go into the reglet? How high is this reglet from shingles below? How many inches does this counter flashing overlap shingles below?
the strip is about 6 inches up and about 4 inches over the shingles with reglet return its about a 12inch girth. we cut into brick or mortar about 3/4 of an inch
Yes sir!!! Good work! Love cutting in my reglet,do it same way bro, nice ass work,I even take my duck bills, sandwich reg let just a cunt hair, floats in nice, use a scrap block of wood to tap in,you nailed it bro. Awesome
Every swinging dick puts counter flashing over flashing What stops water going in the flashing on the wall without the counter flashing If you just put caulk on the flashing You shouldn't be a roofer
I’m about to roof a porch that I added onto my house. Thanks a ton buddy. You’re a life saver

On those jobs I like to cut into the brick before the new shingles are installed . Sometimes it won’t come clean from the dust on shingles .
i do too! didnt work this time!!! a good leaf blower gets most of it. it really depends on color of shingles and color of brick with staining
Try making a separate piece of metal for ridge cap then tie the sides into. Might work.

Thank you bro, but if you say hot one more time I’m jumping off my next roof! Haha! Good job
LOL! I still remember that day! It was hot as balls!
Good job Guys
Thanks!
thank you....now I know what I need to do to me stucco wall flashing... cut a groove and install a flashing . cool.
You can do this in stucco as well
The flashing going down the roof should have the flashing lip under the shingles .No,..?
step flashing goes behind the reglet
11:00 I woulda put another piece of ridge cap down over your metal work and I’m not saying that cause I think it’s bad
didnt think if that... thats a good idea. that was a really hard spot to make look good
10:24 Story of my life brotha

thank you!!!
Never want to grind through brick. Step counterflashing is best
But customers house if thats what they wanted
this is common practice. we only grind about 3/4 of an inch in the brick

If you just put caulk on the flashing
You shouldn't be a roofer
Especially if it's historic. I would want to see the kerf cut into the grout and stepped.
hammerschlagen!!! Love a good game during Octoberfest, can’t beat la crosses octoberfest!
dont threaten me with a good time!!!! lol
for a historic building you should never do a modern sloppy job by not doing step the flashing and not using copper.
No kickout
