    This has to be one of the most calming channels on TH-cam for those with a Maker mind set. Always beautifully presented and simple in its approach. No unnecessary noise or distraction, just pure creativity and talent. Thank you ! I hope this finds you and your family safe and well in these troubled times. Greetings from Vienna = )

    That is perfection sir. I if you make a second sub fence for this, and instead of a pin use a 1/2" ali angle , you can make repeated dado's, and also use it as a edge guide. With a dado make first cut then using the dado fence, make repeated cuts by slotting the fence into the first cut, up against the leading edge of the dado, and repeat all the way up the workpiece. Then adjust for second cut to desired width, and repeat the cuts opening the width you desire. The dado fence slides in each slot. Using 1/4" fencecan work for thin stock, just change over. Using a router mat there is no need to clamp the workpiece. Simple!

    Very exquisite works! There is a small idea that you can add a secondary scale, which is used for the reverse installation of the positioning pin, so that you do not need to install the extension rod. It is relatively small.

    • @longhuang5613
      @longhuang5613 ปีที่แล้ว

      In this way, the radius is longer and no extension rod is required

    Great build, might give this one a try myself! Only thing I would add or change for myself is a measuring strip indicating the outside dimensions of the cut. Because that's the dimension I would need far more often.

      Right, the video is not explaining correctly the way to setup the distance meter. You have to determine the distance of the center of the drill. Note also that this distance is dependent of the router. In the video, it's possible to exchange the Makita and DeWalt. It's normal because booth are made by the same chinese manufacturer (we can find exactly the same device under Katsu brand or some others, with 3times less price). But take care of the measure : it's possible that a difference appears.

    Really nice.
    Recently I saw a circle routing jig made by Marius Hornberg that uses bearings to keep the router in the same position while you cut, avoiding the cable entanglement. But his is made of wood.
    Surely both your ideas could be combined to take advantage of the sturdiness of yours.
    Ty for the always amazing content.
    ありがとうございました!

    Great design. I might have to do something similar. I should have plenty extrusion left over. I also have some machined aluminum angle to make this easier. It wouldn't be too hard to make an attachment so it can also be used as an adjustable fence too.

    5:45 You should put a couple nuts on that threaded rod before you cut it and grind down the ends, then remove the threaded rod after you are finished, and that will repair any damage to the threads caused by the cutting and grinding.

    Might need to take into account the router bit diameter when placing the ruler. So it could be used equally for outer and inner diameter and various router bits.

    • @killymxi
      @killymxi 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Secondary ruler at the sliding part (going in both ways from zero up to max bit radius) can simplify the math.
      Using diameter instead of radius will require a custom ruler.

    Exquisite work, as usual. Thank you!
    I was waiting for you to apply the rest of the ruler to the extension - you had already snipped it off at 15:31. Once butted up and pressed down, you might have had to trim a bit of overhang off the end.
    I was also waiting for you to sand, grind, or saw down the center of your 40x80 extrusion, or the underside of the top of the planchette for the thickness of the ruler. Your method worked, but as others have said, not so elegant as your other work.
    Again, very nice, and as always, inspirational. Adam Savage ("Tested", "Mythbusters") wants suggestions for cutting circles; I'm going to suggest your video.
