Perpendicular slopes are opposite reciprocals. You need to change the sign and flip them over. Another way to look at it is that perpendicular slopes multiply to make -1.
Eric Rodriguez Do you mean the x-coordinate from the ordered pair? Or the slope? For parallel lines, the slopes are the same; for perpendicular lines, the slopes are opposite (sign) and reciprocal (flip it over).
