Honestly, I believe the time when he grabs you and become loyal is the true ending. It fits perfectly with dark souls theme. Besides there is no way main protag would be strong enough to resist Miquella influence lorewise. I wish they did like final boss in kingdom hearts 3 remind where you lose to the boss (or go to second phase when Miquella shows up) and cutscene plays out. Then you get to see a full fledged boss fight and kill it.
@@aleksanderzaremba9695 You can get Miquella's rune from the Scadutree Avatar to resist his mind control, so they at least thought of that fact, lore-wise. Also, he lost a lot of his widespread mind control when his great rune was broken, so he was probably focusing on keeping Radahn enthralled.

When you realize that Miquella compelled Needle Knight Leda and Dryleaf Dane not because they *weren't* loyal, but because they were *so* fanatically loyal he feared they would hurt others.
I love that about Miquella. How Leda is aware she's charmed, but thinks it doesn't matter cause she's loyal anyways... and then the moment it falls off she's all "CAN YOU SMELL THE CRUSTED BLOOD ON ME, PUNK?" It wasn't about loyalty, it was about making the world a gentler place.
Really good point that never crossed my mind! That' why I love these games and the community. However, that begs the question: did Miquella do the right thing (at least when it comes to these two)? I think most of us would be in favour of free will, even if it can lead to the expression of not so wholesome desires - that is something that we always have dealt with and will probably always have to deal with as long as humans are humans. In that sense, I find the two adherents of Miquella to be more authentic and a more sincere reflection of our actual circumstances than the worldly order that Miquella seems to propose and prefer.

Miquella is not only tremendously charming, but also has a noble cause per se - both things being rather compelling. Which leads to the next question: does Miquella give people a choice on whether they want to be charmed? The game seems to imply that he does not do this, at least not as a general rule. Love the point about the paranoia medication 😁 so we have Miquella for paranoia and St Trina for the anxieities of life.

I found a Theory on reddit why Miquella was unable to create his Age of Compassion. His Curse isnt just eternal youth but he is cursed with nascency. Everything from his body to his ambitions will never grow and develop to their full form. His plan to cure Malenia was incomplete, his plans to give Godrick a true death could never be accomplished, and his dream of making the Haligtree an alternative to the Erdtree never happened not because he lacked the power or the focus, but simply due to the facts of his curse. This also extends into the Lands of Shadow. His ambitions towards the ending of becoming a true God are fated to be foiled by us the players. Everything from his body to his schemes are incapable of being developed, and this isn't a plot hole: it's an integral part of his character and curse. It makes him tragic in a similar way to his sister--he might have had good intentions, he might have been doing things for good reasons debatably, but he's incapable of bringing his will fully into the world because of his curse.
I like this theory and it makes me think of clu from tron legacy. miquellas will always have the mind, soul, and worldview of a child. he cannot grow in wisdom or in character he must always be as he was in the beginning. he cannot act change in a meaningful way and his desires are incomplete and idealistic like a Childs. It is truly tragic and regardless like ansbach says there is nothing more terrifying hence why he must be stopped more so than any other foe in the game. he would create a world of lobotomized puppets and call it utopia.

We also have a circlet symbol on us when our heart is being stolen. Haligtree soldiers and knights have golden circlet in their helmets which boosts their faith and drives them into an extreme fervor even suicide bombing against the player. I believe if Miquella would win and leave the Tower, everyone would be ordained to wear a circlet of light, connecting them directly to Miquella. But it is not mind control of thoughts, as everyone is pretty much capable of thinking under Miquella's control independently. It is emotional control that Miquella wants. So one master controller, Miquella, regulating feelings of everyone else through circlets issued to them.
Yeah, it's really debatable how his age of compassion would be. He can literally brainwash you to the fullest, as with Mogh. But his company is kinda aware of it. Ansbach literally tells you that he's terrified of Miquella, and doesn't like his goals. It's more they're compelled to follow anyway

He is an epitome of the well intentioned extremist trope. In spite of his unsavoury methods and horrible manipulation, he does not in fact desire goodgood for powers sake, in fact he fears it (both according to his last cutscene and St.Trina diologue), but feels he must save the world and make it better place, by any means necessary. And that truly fits someone who is in spite of his great divinity, compassion, and genious levels of craftsmanship, still on an emotional maturity level of a child. His curse is not only to not be able to physically grow up, but mature emotionally.

What I find most interesting is that, based on the lore and indeed on Miquella, the Age of Compassion could have been real. Probably not perfect, but he’s genuinely trying to make a gentler world and promised to do so (and see the length he goes to, to fulfill his promises). But it was fated never to occur, because we were fated to be Elden Lord. That’s more interesting than convincing ourselves that his Age of Compassion must be fake and he’s just another tyrant, just because then maybe we’d have to justify our rule with more than just We Won The War. Miquella is a redeemer figure, a Christian eschatological figure, radiant and terrifying, and we would rather kill him and take the throne than give up our sin. Without our sin, are we ourselves?

The idea that X or Y character wants to get rid of free will keeps being pitched - Ranni, Goldmask, etc. I don’t think that’s what the game is about. You can find the shattered ruin in the game. It's a shame because it's supposed to be the strongest ruin of any demigod. Would be cool to be able to get it before he destroys it.
Hard to tell. We as tarnished are being guided by Marika to be her consort, yet we are able to betray Marika to be rannis or just straight up burn everything as frenzied flame. So I'm not sure why we couldn't get a third "no Marika" ending where we become miquellas champion and consort when we get like 4 Marika endings I think.

In the base game "Final Battle" we have 2 different track combined with each other, the first track is for Radagon fight and his theme. The second track was Marika/Elden Beast theme (it was named Marika originally, you can look it up for the real/official lyric of the Final Battle). The final battle of the DLC also includes 2 tracks. The Radahn soundtrack remake and Miquella soundtrack. So with the release of the DLC, we have the entire Marika/Radagon family soundtrack. This is only after the Final Battle for me as the best soundtrack in the game.
Honestly, hearing this OST really made me think back to how I got here in the first place. No matter how difficult this boss was, this ost, and the fact that’s it’s the final challenge that Elden ring will have to offer ever again, I have throughly enjoyed every damn minute playing through this game (Except the frenzy flame parkour. F that, never gonna do that ever again) Also sorry I talk way to damn much
He was never a villain just another character with flaws and mistakes, a villain is someone who doesn't care about anything or anyone, and inflict harm on purpose, miquella goal was literally saving everyone.

I really wanted my dark souls 3 character (as in completed dark soul chosen undead) in this fight but if you get grabbed a second time, instead of being insta-killed, you take basically double damage from holy sources as the dark soul has to work to actively resist miquella's charm and Radahn will no longer grab you for the rest of the fight.
THIS , when the dlc came out , I thought godwyn would be the last boss since he the only one of Marika's kids that we never got to see. He's the prince of death of all things . Why couldn't be see him at all? Rahdan tbh feels like fan service since the community worships him. But Godwyn I feel would have been a true blindside for everyone .

There is no age of compassion ending because it can never exist. There is no eden here and these "gods" aren't true omniscient and omnipotent gods they are powerful beings but flawed regardless. Miquellas curse is he is forever a child. He may be intelligent but he lacks maturity and wisdom. He cannot outgrow his childish and simplistic worldview hence he believes creating a world without freewill is a good idea its a child's idea. the beautiful/horrifying thing about miquellas story is his path to pilgrimage was in the name of compassion, but ultimately he charmed even those fiercely loyal to him.he gave up everything to fulfill this claim he thought he had over peoples own autonomy. in his ideal world everyone would be under his charm. his version of compassion is taking away free will all together aka humanity since its inherently evil. it is no better than the frenzied flame ending, at least in that one people arent forced to inhabit a body outside their own control & influence. instead theyre primordial soup. all are equally bad, miquellas tale is one of wanting peace at any cost, but that cost is everything. no more doubt, despair, sadness, grief only happiness. to take away emotions is to strip the foundation from what we came from, what separates us from other living things.(speculation in regards to how charming works, nice replies only pls)
Except each of the charmed knights was their own person, and nearly all choose to return to his side after being un-charmed. Moore was still different from Leda, but both remain loyal. Miquella’s charm doesn’t make people not themselves, or even completely remove elements Miquella wouldn’t approve of. The Hornsent was still driven by desire to aid his people, just more by hope than revenge. Thiollier still wanted to make a sleep-forever poison. They were still them.
I would just like to point out, that in the case of Leda, he charmed her because of her devotion to him, he probably did it in order for her to not kill the others.

It's close but not quite! Sounds closer to "Marike Aetrena" or some such. Besides, I believe there's only one song in the entire Elden Ring and Dark Souls franchise that even has lyrics and it's the bat-sirens in Elden Ring. Everything else is just cool-sounding gibberish (Bloodborne is an exception here that actually has latin lyrics in some songs). Though, that doesn't mean fan-made lyrics can be cool.

What I find most interesting is that, based on the lore and indeed on Miquella, the Age of Compassion could have been real. Probably not perfect, but he’s genuinely trying to make a gentler world and promised to do so (and see the length he goes to, to fulfill his promises). But it was fated never to occur, because we were fated to be Elden Lord. That’s more interesting than convincing ourselves that his Age of Compassion must be fake and he’s just another tyrant, just because then maybe we’d have to justify our rule with more than just We Won The War. Miquella is a redeemer figure, a Christian eschatological figure, radiant and terrifying, and we would rather kill him and take the throne than give up our sin. Without our sin, are we ourselves?

Hard to tell. We as tarnished are being guided by Marika to be her consort, yet we are able to betray Marika to be rannis or just straight up burn everything as frenzied flame. So I'm not sure why we couldn't get a third "no Marika" ending where we become miquellas champion and consort when we get like 4 Marika endings I think.

In the base game "Final Battle" we have 2 different track combined with each other, the first track is for Radagon fight and his theme. The second track was Marika/Elden Beast theme (it was named Marika originally, you can look it up for the real/official lyric of the Final Battle). The final battle of the DLC also includes 2 tracks. The Radahn soundtrack remake and Miquella soundtrack. So with the release of the DLC, we have the entire Marika/Radagon family soundtrack.
This is only after the Final Battle for me as the best soundtrack in the game.

I really wanted my dark souls 3 character (as in completed dark soul chosen undead) in this fight but if you get grabbed a second time, instead of being insta-killed, you take basically double damage from holy sources as the dark soul has to work to actively resist miquella's charm and Radahn will no longer grab you for the rest of the fight.

There is no age of compassion ending because it can never exist. There is no eden here and these "gods" aren't true omniscient and omnipotent gods they are powerful beings but flawed regardless. Miquellas curse is he is forever a child. He may be intelligent but he lacks maturity and wisdom. He cannot outgrow his childish and simplistic worldview hence he believes creating a world without freewill is a good idea its a child's idea. You can only pity him because he cannot and will never know any better.

Except each of the charmed knights was their own person, and nearly all choose to return to his side after being un-charmed. Moore was still different from Leda, but both remain loyal. Miquella’s charm doesn’t make people not themselves, or even completely remove elements Miquella wouldn’t approve of. The Hornsent was still driven by desire to aid his people, just more by hope than revenge. Thiollier still wanted to make a sleep-forever poison. They were still them.
I would just like to point out, that in the case of Leda, he charmed her because of her devotion to him, he probably did it in order for her to not kill the others.
