When my brother and I were in elementary school, we hated the 1965-66 Ford Galaxies. But now when I see any of these old cars, I love them! And last year I bought my first brand new car which had 2000 miles. It is a 2020 Ford, my first one!

It's like the 57 Chevy. They are awesome. But what turns my head today, a good ole 55, 56 or 57 Olds, Buick, Ford, Pontiac. They are simply more of a timepiece that has weathered the hardest of times staying alive when most everyone ignored them. I've seen thousands of 57 Chevys. Cannot get my fill of all the others now.

Another piece of my heart and my past I owned a 66 7 liter it was black with black interior I bought it in 1972 before the gas crisis out of all the cars I owned it was truly my favorite at 17 years old I felt like a king driving down broad street this car was like driving a cloud the power was incredible and smooth I let my now wife use it for school every day and at one point we had to have a discussion about her racing it she blew off her neibhor and his Chevele 396 the cops clocked him at over 100 mph she got away lol it was a very rase car around here I only saw one other in our town that one was a white competition model it came with a 4 speed and dual quads carbs and a bubble hood scoop boy memories of those times thanks Lou for another great memory's

My parents had a 66 Galaxies 500 2 door hardtop in white with a 390 big block, power steering and brakes and windows and locks and seat, a/c! Built at Norfolk, Va plant and special ordered by original owner. Parents bought it 1968 used and kept it a while! I barely remember it, but my mom especially liked it!😁👍🛠️

This engine wasn't as much of a screamer to need the 4 speed. Had very comparable torque to the 427; but the 428 was made for 2000-3500 RPM cruising for hours on end.

Dad bought a 68 LTD with a 390 2bbl. with 100,000 thing was caked up in the valve covers with gak from short tripping bad quality oil; and still would 1 wheel peel a tire through all 3 gears about a quarter of a mile, from a kick of the gas pedal.

hey Lou its me...great video on a grear car... Ford also had a commercial where they put a little school-girl about 14 or 15 that was the National Penmanship Champion in the very back seat of a Country Squire Wagon while she wrote. then they drove her over potholes and rairoad tracks but no dukes-jumps...then compared it with her at a desk writing which were clones...haha lol...but that still is 1 cool car...kutgw....oh and those 66s had a cold light just under the radio in the boxes that glowed bright blue till the motor warmed up also...that was "cool"...haha.

I lived in the apt bldg right closest to it I could piss and hit it. I once met Frankie Avalon and Annette funicello there once when they were filming the movie back to the beach in 1985. Real good dealership. Was always muscle cars there. Galpin ford was one of the best dealerships in the San Fernando valley

Great car! I actually grew up on the other side of the San Diego Freeway from where Galpin Ford was located. For decades Galpin was #1 Ford dealership in the USA. They opened in 1965, two years after the freeway (405) opened. I bought a 1989 Taurus SHO from them in 1989. Excellent interview, with a great owner and a great car!

    Hi Lou,
Absolutely love love love full size muscle cars, power with size & style, I remember the best full size muscle car episode being the 1970 Plymouth GT Fury with the 440 Six Pack that was mind blowing.
Full size muscle cars are either Ford Galaxies, Chev Impala SS how about a Pontiac Catalina 2 + 2 1965 with the stacked headlights another favorite of mine.
What is the equivalent in a Buick & Oldsmobile.
There needs to be a book dedicated to full size muscle cars, otherwise another great video, that is one black beauty.

So very cool. When a Ford was a Ford and not some unholy melding of Mazda and Ford. Just love the lines of mid to early 60's cars and those who saved them from the car crushers of the 70's and 80's...… Otherwise, that beauty would come back as a reincarnated Subaru or something.... Maybe a few thousand toasters. Nothing says love like a $4500 lift in your personal shop. Thanks for brining this to us and tracking down these great, dedicated, owners.
