I tried this and the squid came out soft. The sauce is amazing and I love that there's no fishy smell bec the skin was skinned out. It's a light and amazing dish 💜

I've done this with both fresh and frozen squid and both turn out fantastic! So delicious with rice. Thank you so much for the recipe - I add chilli sometimes for a spicy change 😁

I've cooked at least 6-7 of your recipes. Everyone impressed whoever tried it. I made your sesemee chicken in the Philippines for my in-laws who enjoyed it too much. I'm from Florida and visit often and always check out your site to impress them. This time it was the squid. Very easy and spot on! Great instructions.
    Thanks

Love the two minute rule! Squid (and scallops) are so easy to overcook and turn into something that's worse than chewing a tire. Also, bonus points, everything except for maybe the cooking wine (which you can substitute for dry sherry or something else neutral instead) can be found in even the worst supermarkets. Nothing wrong with using frozen stuff.

I found this recipe 6 months ago and I come back to it every time I cook squid. My favorite recipe - so easy and so much better than battered fried rings! Sometimes I take liberties with the sauce though - I think it goes very well with kimchi sauce and rice.

Just made this tonight. I used some frozen pre-steamed squid, but I found that blanching with the ginger (and some 料酒 cooking wine) helped removed some fishy taste regardless.
I added some bird eyes chilis and added jalapeños instead of green peppers but otherwise cooked this as is. And wow this was great! The squid was a tad hard and I might’ve overcooked, but it was great and my wife absolutely loved it.
