How fun! I use my gel plate ALL the time to make collage papers. I actually very much enjoy your demos because your techniques are different from what I usually do. :)
Drew Steinbrecher is an entirely unique and inspiring artist--what a wonderful surprise to see you using his techniques. I'd love to see how you use the finished papers in your collages.
Yes Drew has a very unique style, and it was fun to learn how he created his brand of gell plate magic. I will be using these papers to expand my collage series after I have 4 more collage paper demos posted. This is my 1st of 5 for that future video!
This is so funny crazy! I did the gel printers summit and I was rewatching it this morning trying to get more comfortable with Gelli Printing - so this was great!!!!
I have that Summit too and never watched it. Once I get into the gel plate, I'll probably won't look back. This video is one SMALL step onto that path!
I find the Gel plate super addictive. It’s so hard to stop. I particularly like my stencils, homemade and store bought, on the gel plate. It was fun to see the Cat Rains version of Drew’s style. Super successful. It’s nearly impossible to mess up on the gel plate as something always turns out. Thanks for the demo!❤
I think what you’re forgetting is that you’re working in reverse. Those white lines will “come through” even if you put a truly opaque paint…. First paint on is the top of your print. Working in reverse is what you need to get used to. All that being said, these were great papers.
I like the randomness of the lines when the paint recedes from areas of the gel plate. I was disappointed to see you go over them a second time to "fix" that. Anyone can make solid lines but you can't remake the way the paint pulled back on its own in random patterns.
It was a learning experience for me! I love gel printing because there is room for so many possibilities. Drew is known for his solid lines so I was following his style to start with, but I could see how playing with the random patterns would be fun as well.
This looks like a lot of fun with exciting results
Drew is a wonderful teacher, it was so fun to play with!

You could teach me how to use the gel plate better! So much fun to use that I can see why you use it all the time.
Love this, Catherine!😍🙏I think you will reach more people if you also include more gelprinting papers! 👍❤️
I'm sure you are right. Just need to find time to learn this skill better!
Thank you!😊
Thank YOU for watching!

So much fun indeed!
I love Drew's work and appreciate your talking through what you discovered about the technique.
@@chrisraymond6618 I love his work too. Loved learning from him.
Thanks. WHat kind of paint markers were you using?
These are Montana paint pens. LOVE them. Can be found on Amazon.
Beautiful creations! I cannot find the link to the paint pens and they are not under the Nova link.
Ooops, I didn't include it. Thanks for letting me know. I'll edit this and it will be available later today.

Also, plate is two sided. If you work on the other side, you won’t get the line. Or you shouldn’t. 💙
That makes a lot of sense, thank you for pointing that out! That's a great tip!
