    Your plant is looking great! I cant believe how long those leaves are getting, I thought I might be pulling ahead but nope lmao. Nice job!

    Got my first pothos about 30 years ago. Heat is absolutely the deciding factor on verigation. 😊

    So glad to see this update! I’ve been wondering how it was going. Thank you.
    The plank really does make a huge difference! I wish I could show you my Pothos Epipremnum pinnatum albo variegata that I’m growing on a plank (actually, two are on planks, two on moss poles). I just measured the leaves and a bottom leaf is about three inches, while the top is slightly over 12 inches, with fenestrations! I must say, it’s one of the prettiest things I’ve ever seen! And I must also thank you for giving me the idea to add planks to my plants. I first saw you using them.

    On variegation. IDK if this will help provide more info or just make more questions. I have a much younger golden pothos on a plank. The cutting started off with minimal variegation, but enough to know that it does have it. A similar amount to the damaged leaf at 4:24. At about the second leaf that grew after I secured the cutting to the plank and planted it in soil, the variegation really took off. I don't have supplemental humidity or heating. It's currently summer, and I have central AC with it set to 75°F (about 24°C). The plant is getting a little over 180 fc of light from 2 LED bulbs that are 5000k, 1450 lumen, and 100w equivalent for about 14 hours a day. There is some sun light, but it is coming from the backside of the plank and is mostly blocked by other plants. I water when the soil is dry and I haven't fertilized it or added compost since I planted it a couple months ago.

      More thoughts. It does stay a little warmer where the plant is compared to the rest of my home. I haven't sprayed or hydrated the plank. My pothos is also more compact than yours.

    Looks good! I'm rooting for you! I still think you should get a real IV set up. What you have is a toy. I have one, it's a novelty item sold for plants. It's not really effective, is it. Looks like your sprayer works well, though. Keep growing! 😊

    That's looking like a very smart elegant Pothos Jeff! Something to do with how the leaves step up so regularly from side to side, and your successful regime in keeping the stem straight, and yes...just love those aerial roots & cute caterpillar feet :)

    Thanks for the update! It’s sizing up nicely! My own pothos had to be moved to a room where it gets less light than before, and the new leaf peeking out looks like it’s going to be much smaller. 😭 The two leaves before that are 5”, one of them also 3” wide, and have a LOT of variegation!

    For what it's worth, maybe you are giving yourself too much stress with the IV bag and keeping the plank moist. I've started a pothos on a piece of untreated, rough pine pole and it's attaching well and sizing up nicely. I don't wet the wood or anything, it's just in ambient room humidity which for me averages at 60%.
    Loving this series you two are doing 👍

      @@RuffTranslation I live in Ireland, 60% is normal. The average annual outdoor humidity is 75%, guess it helps getting like 230-ish days of rain a year😂
      I just checked the weather and it is 86% outside today and my plant room is 70%.

  • @JustJ0nathan
    @JustJ0nathan 7 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    Why are you using such a small pot?! I started my golden pothos on a plank in a 10” pot from the start and it’s thriving. I also don’t have to worry about it outgrowing the pot for quite some time. I can’t figure out for the life of me where people say using a pot 1-2” bigger than the root ball is required to avoid killing the plant. Plants don’t grow in pots in nature! It doesn’t make any logical sense. I’ve never followed this rule and I’ve always had success. What I find to be the number one factor for lacklustre growth or plant death is lack of light. Everything always seems to point to that. “Overwatering” has nothing to do with plant death. Plants can’t choose in nature when it rains and how much it rains. Again, I believe light is the single most important factor for thriving plants.

    • @EverythingPlants
      @EverythingPlants  7 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      It matters more about the soil type that you are using and whether or not there is enough air flow for the roots. If it's a dense soil and minimal airflow......boom root rot. The difference between nature and indoor plants is wind/airflow.
      This is the pot I chose and it will get a repot soon.

    • @JustJ0nathan
      @JustJ0nathan 7 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@EverythingPlantsDefinitely airflow is part of the mix. 🙂 I’m starting to question whether chunky soil has much to do with the equation. Maybe it does a little. I’m growing mine in Miracle Grow for indoor plants with very little amendment - just a bit of extra perlite, but the soil is very compact still. I’ve broken all the rules for this particular plant, and the strong growth it’s giving me is amazing. I’m waiting for it die. 😂 I wish I could post a photo.
