Trade unions represent their members, not the general public. Labour in government will represent everyone, not just union members. There's a difference between a union and a political party for that reason. Labour's tactic of calling for the disputes to be resolved is absolutely correct: government should get to the table and negotiate a sensible deal. In the meantime, the economy is being damaged. The Conservatives are delierately drawing-out these disputes to make Labour seem like extremists, at the expense of businesses across the country. Starmer isn't falling into that trap.

Very true. Ever since that Cathy Newman interview with Jordan Peterson on Ch4, it really struck me how so few interviewers these days listen at all. I quite like Lynch but saw nothing in this interview that was unfair or less than enlightening. The great thing (on other videos) about being asked nasty questions is that you get to answer them live on air, and Lynch is one of the best at that.

Trade unions represent their members, not the general public. Labour in government will represent everyone, not just union members. There's a difference between a union and a political party for that reason. Labour's tactic of calling for the disputes to be resolved is absolutely correct: government should get to the table and negotiate a sensible deal. In the meantime, the economy is being damaged. The Conservatives are delierately drawing-out these disputes to make Labour seem like extremists, at the expense of businesses across the country. Starmer isn't falling into that trap.
