A lot of fans think empire is the best of original trilogy
Because it is.
It's not the best of all the 80s star wars films, everyone knows that is Caravan of Courage.
But Empire strikes back is okay. It's a good 3rd best
Well, you need to go back to those years and appreciate that movie in that context. It was The Matrix of the era. The first Star Wars was the average hero's journey where the character starts as a kid and ends up as a man and rescues the princess. But The Empire Strikes Back, is a soap opera, is "Shakespeare". Luke loses his hand, Leia her love interest, just listen to the music.... is a drama.... in space!
