- A step by step instruction into how to master the butcher's knot.
The butcher's knot is a simple skill that is extremely useful to learn and will help you prepare a variety of joints and meat dishes.
The best part about it is that you can practice the butcher's knot in your very own kitchen right now, all you need is some twine and a rolling pin as demonstrated in the video. Once you've got this down, you'll be preparing your own roasting joint like a professional in no time.
This butchers knot step by step instructional video is brought to you by The Urban Butchery Channel. Look out for future videos on how to tie butcher's knot by subscribing to the channel and pressing the bell icon to see our new videos.

Perfectly explained! Thanks
Best slow informative easy patient teachable video on Butchers Knot I’ve found.
Thank you, this was the only video that actually explained how to do this easily
Glad it was of help to you Brennan!
Looks like you finish the knot off with a Siberian Hitch. Good demonstration, well presented.
SEIKO ALPINIST!!! Who knew you have a knack for collectible watches
Ha yes, love Seiko.
I also own a navigator and a 6139 6000
Cheers
Franco
Agree with all the previous comments. Best tutorial video ever!
High praise, thank you very much Garry!
This was the fourth different video I'd watched on the subject and thankfully, the last. I was getting quite cross but then this video helped me quickly nail the technique. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!

Franco
Brilliant Mate.!! Thank you.!!!
No problem 👍
This is the most clear and descriptive video I've watched on tying a butcher's knot. It gets the camera direction right and shows the perspective of the person tying the knot. You wouldn't believe how hard it is learn from videos that are essentially upside down. Thank you
You're welcome Eric and thanks for the great feedback. It is really helpful to get informative viewer insights.
Good luck with your butchery!
Regards Franco
Agree - finally a great, useful video fro this!
Yep very clear and from an angle you can actually copy as you go. 10/10
i guess im asking the wrong place but does anybody know of a tool to log back into an Instagram account?
I was dumb lost my account password. I would appreciate any assistance you can offer me
@Demetrius Hunter I really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and Im in the hacking process now.

Thank you Sir! Nice Alpinist
Your welcome.
Yes just sold it actually and purchased a 6139 6000 are you a collector?
Franco
Very good, informative tutorial. I'm not a butcher, but I just became a subscriber.
Thanks for the sub!
Thank you
You're welcome
Excellent video. I’m smoking Buckboard bacon later today and need to tie up the portions of pork shoulder meat.
Hey Sean!
Glad it was of assistance
Franco
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!!!! I'm a very visual learner, and you went slowly and showed everything clearly. I just tied six knots on two ham roasts that are now in my smoker. Every knot worked the first time, and I did it from memory instead of having your video up and running beside me - you're an excellent teacher! Thank you again!
You are very welcome Kathryn. Could not be happier with this :) thanks for the comment!
Why is it that I find clear and concise instructions AFTER I’ve done the job, done but not very well, next time. Great video.
You can do it! Thanks for watching
This is the best demonstration of this that I have seen, thanks.
Thank you for a good tutorial
So welcome Chad
Franco
Looks very good to me. Watched a few others but this is the most professional, and even I can do it.
Glad you found it useful
This is the best video. The double Loop on the main slip knot was the key for me. Thanks. Will keep practicing on my kids stuffed animals.

@@TheUrbanButcheryChannel already tied a tenderloin roast with your video. Thanks again
I whole heartedly agree. I actually know how to do it without having to watch five other videos great tutorial
Thank you i just became a meat cutters apprentice and i cant for the life of me understand how to do the knot. Coworkers would put the string on flip their hand and it would be a knot. This video is something i can study and learn from.
Welcome my friend glad it helped
Franco
Perfect video, as someone who is just starting to butcher his own meat, I appreciate the upload
Glad it was helpful! Franco
Saved so I can come back later when I next need to tie a joint. Thanks again!

Thank you for this!! First Day of butchery today for me!!!
Good luck!! Great to see more people get started in Butchery.
This is the easiest knot I have seen demonstrated. Hope I can manage it! Thank you 😊
You can do it!
Thank you for this video. Very helpful. When practicing what you have done I discovered once I’d got the hang of it with the rolling pin I then used a roll of black sack bin liner’s. Just gives a little meat like resistance. T
Great Tony, glad it gelped
Franco
Best tutorial I’ve seen yet! Awesomely brilliant and simple! Thanks!

You're welcome!
Thank you, you just saved my tenderloin and me. Excellent step by step instructions. Happy Holidays. Best video I've found.
Glad it was helpful my friend
Franco
Your butcher's knot video demo was spot on: Clear, concise, well annunciated with brogue that's easy to understand. To practice string tying, using a rolling pin held by blue tack - very novel. Your overhead camera view was steady & professional TUB 'C'.
Thank you for your comment, I am glad it was of use
Kindest regards Franco
Great instructions! Thanks very much. I used it to secure the tin foil onto the top of my pudding basin. I used rubber bands initially, however the heat relaxed them and they fell into the water. Butcher knot was the trick. Having a full prime rib for Christmas today!
Fantastic!
I’ve seen a couple videos and this was by far the best. Thank you so much for posting this. Game changer for when I debone a turkey and wrap it. Have a blessed day.
Your so welcome Michael I am so glad it was of use
Kind regards, and a blessed day to you and your family
Thanks mate, nice and easy when you’ve been shown properly
Your most welcome Robin
Kind regards Franco
How difficult can it be to make up a proper explanation for such an easy thing? VERY difficult obviously, because this is by far the best of the very few videos i found. Thank you very much!
Thank you sir!
Well produced thanks ...the cut end is the bitter end
Thank you for that, I will remember
Regards Franco
This is the best knot tying video is have watched, and ive watched a few. Cracking, thank you.
Hey Kendall thank you for the comment, I am so glad it was helpful
Regards Franco
I've now got the best-trussed rolling pin in the UK. Thanks for such a clear and easy to follow video. I've been shown butchers' knots umpteen times but this is the first time I've mastered them to my satisfaction.
Wonderful! Glad it helped!
Thanks!
Your so welcome, glad it was of help
Regards Franco
Great Job
Cheers John, glad it helped
Franco
I can tie this knot in like 3 seconds with my knife in-hand, lol. Love teaching this to new cutters. It's really quite tricky to master. What is really important on this knot is tightening the knot first on the upwards direction , so when you pull downwards, you will hear the twine make a snap which is the friction of the twine on itself. The string should almost be hidden by the roast from it slightly cutting its way into the roast. For people wondering WHY you would tie a roast: You would want to tie a roast primarily after it's been deboned. After deboning the meat opens up to a larger surface area and harder to place in a tray, rack, grill, etc. Tie it back up to mostly it's original shape before deboning and it looks better and is easier to handle pre and post cooking. If your butcher is really good, they will space the string out so you can carve off perfect slices between each string
That is awesome
Nice explanation and demonstration video!!
Thanks for the comment, glad you found it useful!
Excellent demonstration. I'm not quite as slick at it as you, but I can at least make the knot hold!
Great stuff, you are so welcome 🙏
Thank you. Prior it took both my wife and I to tie a roast. Now..... I impressed the hell out of her and she thought I was doing magic.
So glad it was of use, congratulations Paul
Regards Franco
This is probably the best quality tutorial of anything I’ve ever seen. Thanks mate!
