I'm loving this content. As a Wainwright walking enthusiast, living on the South Coast with not much opportunity to head North currently, I'm finding these videos are helping me not to let stress win. Thank you for sharing.
I really enjoy your style and presentation of these films and I watch more and more whenever we’re about to visit for our anniversary week in October. Keep em coming please😊
We did this exact walk (plus Cat Bells) last Sunday in 27oC heat. Absolutely fantastic, would definitely recommend. Even our little dog managed it. Thanks for the recommendation Neil. Keep up the great work - love your videos.
I'm so glad you showed the rock steps. I ascended Hindscarth a few years ago with my aging but active dog who had 2 metal knees . It was getting late and I could see the clouds coming across from the west so I thought that Robinson looked fairly benign and grassy to descend. Torrential rain hit just before I found that top step and the fear was real. I was clinging on to the slippery rocks by my fingertips in the fading light using my body to press my poor dog into the cliffs as there was no way he could get down by himself and there was no way I would ever have left him. I remember chucking my walking pole down to free my hands and watching it bounce off the rocks below and seeing the rods of rain falling down past us into the darkening valley. Possibly the biggest fright I've ever had on the fells and certainly the wettest. It took until midnight for us to dry off in the campsite shower block enough to get back in the caravan without making the duvet soggy!
@@LakeDistrictFilms Absolutely. You just begin to feel relaxed and a bit complacent and then the fells give you a reminder that it can all change in a heartbeat! Lesson learned.
Brings back great memories. We did a clockwise round 6 years ago on a glorious day, adding Cat Bells, Ard Crag & Knott Rigg for a hugely satisfying long day. My favourite route in the Lakes so far.
From one of your ‘mountain chums’ great video as always, enjoy watching the multiple wainwright walks. Glad I’ve seen Robinson, think I will be going up it and not down. Hope you enjoyed ‘pie’ after your long walk.
Lovely video Not too much commentary Many happy memories of my ramblings around Newlands summits and the valley floor. A good number of coffees and cakes from that delightful group of volunteers in Newlands Chapel. Sorry that mrs Edmunson isn’t selling “TEAS” any more but the family seem to have done an outstanding job of the barn conversions. I was sad to see Low House sold a few years ago as I think that was the last of a long line of the Folder family there. I live in a remote village and although I’m an incomer, 37 years since, it is the case when the old families die out or move, that the place loses its soul. The loss of continuity and all the associated history will never be recovered. The “Story of Newlands Valley” by Susan Grant ( still available 2nd hand) , brought the valley alive to me when it was first published. Strangely, her book also brought the graveyard alive!!! 😂Newlands is a place it’s easy to fall in love with from whatever perspective it’s viewed. Thanks very much for your effort
I do so enjoy the walks . so many other videos show little of the trail but you show the trail itself and very knowledgeable about them. I think yours are some of the best I've seen. thank you for letting me come along. Dwayne
Neil, thank you for the therapeutic break from my cave dweller existence when I am at work! My Husband and I are big fans. We just spent 2 weeks in Chapel Stile and cannot wait to return and do this one! - one of your many mountain chums
Thanks Neil. Just came across your channel. Enjoyed the walk and enjoyed the commentary as well. Very interesting in my view. I did a similar walk but in reverse so it was Catbells, Maiden Moor , High Spy , Dale Head and Hindscarth and back along Newlands Valley to pick up my car at the bottom of Catbells. I remember one year some friends and I wild camped overnight next to Dale Head Tarn on another walk that we did. Enjoyed your video very much so I've subscribed..👍
Great video mate. Love the outtakes at the end. Planning to do this route with my 11 year old son this year over a couple of days and maybe get a cheeky wildcamp in along the way. Liked and subbed. ATB
Done my first one last week cat bells, really wanted to continue on but met the family… great video the scramble up to Robinson looked challenging for me will need a bit more confidence for that but great video thanks for sharing
Another great video, Im sure you must have done this on the 30th August as I saw you walking through Keswick while I was having a pint in The Dog and Gun. Keep up the great videos.
Good spot, Alan! This was actually on the Sunday before - Tuesday was a visit to the Theatre By The Lake - short film coming soon! Thanks for the support and hope to see you around!
only recently found your vids as they came up as a suggestion but we're so glad they did. we have a lot of catching up to do now! we love your style and filming and the deadpan comments always make me smile! We love the Newlands round, such a great route and you had brilliant weather for it :)
Thank you so much for the effort you put into your videos, Neil. I am in the process of doing all the Wainwrights (from London via public transport so it's going to take me a while!). Your videos have been so helpful with route planning.
Great video, eagerly awaited and not disappointed. Thank you for sharing, we love the information, the excellent videoing and the humour - let me know when they build that bridge. Thanks again, can't wait for the next one.😄
Great video Neil. I remember there were some scary drops on some of those scrambly sections on Robinson if you got it wrong. Glad you lived to tell the tale. 😊👍🏻
Great video 😀 love watching these multiple wainwright walks. I was watching you kentmere round the other day as well as I keep meaning to do that. Haven’t done this route before definitely looks like one to add on the list. Looks like a fun amount of scrambling. Thanks for sharing
Superb video. This is definitely one that I feel I could do, except that I would use the more civilised route up to Robinson. No way I could mentally manage that climbing section. Is the gentler route easy to find / follow? Thanks for sharing 👍🏼
Thanks, Graham. Hope you get a good day for it! The civilised route is the main footpath on the OS map, and looks to be very well marked. Just head straight on from past the stile and the path should lead you up towards the reservoir. After that, it should gently curve to the north, and the summit of Robinson. All the best, stay safe!
Thank you! Will try to put a time estimate in the descriptions, but filming the route often takes longer than a straightforward walk, so it’s not necessarily accurate!
Thanks, Claire. We have a mix of music sources, including TH-cam's own music library, some we have made via GarageBand, some from friends, and from online libraries.

That sounds pretty intense - even apparently tranquil places like the Lakes still retain their ability to surprise us from time to time, don't they!

takes me back, thanks Neil

Thank you - will try to find Susan's book. Newlands is a magical place - somehow a world removed from the rest of the busy Lakes!
inspired to get on with training for our next trip to the Wainrights. thanks Neil.
Thank you - hope you enjoy it when you get there!

Thanks, David. There are wise scrambles, and there are ways around most of the bad bits, but it’s always sensible to know your limits! All the best.
