Gandhari did consent on going along with Bheeshm. The point of non consent is mentioned in rakshas vivah. Can be the other way round too where grooms are abducted to be married to the bride.
One observation that would have made this presentation of Hindu Marriages and their modern interpretation more complete, would have been to say something about same sex marriages and how the ancient Hindu text perceives that.
In the context of ancient Kshatriya culture, this form of marriage was sometimes seen as appropriate for warriors, especially in times of conflict or when political alliances were involved. The Rakshasa marriage was more about showcasing the strength of the groom rather than the violent act it may seem to modern sensibilities. So Lord Krishna didn't break any dharma by marrying Rukmini.
👌👍🌹 Good presentation, valuable, informative and interesting. The last sentence does not seem to be correct. Marriage is purely a family matter performed as per their faith, tradition, custom, scriptures, sampradaya and convenience. There is no specific provision in the constitution for conduct of marriage. Unfortunately after independence gov't interfered with Hindu way of life and enacted laws for anulling hindu marriage generally known as divorce laws which is not acceptable as per any Hindu scriptures or culture or Dharma at any point of time in the past in any Yugas or Kalpas. About 7:59 you mentioned rakshasa vivaaha. But one interesting fact to note is that Rukmini, in her love letter to Krishna, requested him to abduct her and marry her in Rakshasa style marriage. And Krishna also does so. I am not making this up. It is really in Srimad Bhagavatam. So i think the part about no consent is not always true.
nope that is not rakshasa, she went voluntarily and both were in love, it comes under gandharv vivaha force marriage against one's free will is rakshasha
How about 4 wives polygamy ?? How about giving young generations injections to grow older before time and get them marry and ask them to birth more more peaceful communities??
Child marriage is permissible under circumstances where grooming gangs roam the streets to kidnap teen girls. As in the case of medieval India and now.
No child marriage is mentioned in Sanatan dharm Till 25 age, a person has to obey Brahmacharya Due to wrong-editing of our scriptures by WILLIUM HUNTER COMMISSION (Sent by British govt.), People started child marriage. But actually it has no place in any scriptures (But it is allowed in some other religion 🤭🤭)

The entire video is useful except where u compare Gandharva marriage with what is stupidly referred to as 'love marriage' nowadays....
