I married in India. My Dr. Husband didn't cook, drive or work non stop!!!! He was sent to boarding school! We hired drivers. My clothes were made specifically for me, I sewed my own. They brought me a friend, Anju. I could communicate with her....haha. she showed me how to make riti.
The manager of the hotel took a photo we all took together haha good thing I had two. His eyes were the color tallow of a 🙀 cat's eyes. He made me chicken and brought it to the room!!!!

And what’s this about someone’s eyes being “tallow” colored? Seems a bit…rude to say. Haha.

In my tribal culture, the women are told that you raise your boys not for yourself, but for the family in which he will provide. Meaning his bride and children. The man goes to live with the brides people as their children inherit the clan from the mother. The women send their sons away, because we inherit no land or home. We only provide.

I also feel that the negative comments are from people who don’t understand the importance of tradition and culture in this ancient culture. Take an honest look at life in our country if you’re looking for real poverty, inequality and unhappiness. There are deeper values than Walmart availability. Our opiate crisis and general health care costs and homelessness are symptoms of these lack of a cultural basis. Just saying…

In what can be considered a conservative estimate, the United Nations has found that 13 percent of drug-abuse victims in India are below the age of 20.” (Nov ‘22 report)…as to homelessness, “Homelessness is a problem that is particularly prevalent in urban areas, with an estimated 85% of homeless people living in cities.
Most homeless people in India live on the streets, in makeshift shelters, or slums. A small minority of homeless people live in government-run shelters, which are often overcrowded and lack basic amenities.” Guess they r also having a ‘lack of a cultural basis’..don’t ?

A condescending tone runs through the narration looking down upon the lofty idea of fulfilling one's responsibilities towards one's family, clan, tradition and culture. It's quite evident in the kind of questions asked of the royals who, it must be said, behaved quite graciously as an India host would.
This just betrays the intolerance of Western elite to accept values and systems different than their own.
Has individual freedom, break up of families brought unadulterated good for the Western society.
Every system, tradition has its pluses and minuses. That gives no right to the West to look down upon the Indian tradition of respect towards one's family over individual aspirations.
And yes, India has a lot of poor, but India also has a lot of rich and middle class people and it cannot be classified as a poor undeveloped nation anymore.
And those who played a major hand in impoverishing us, the descendants of those colonials have the gall to call us poor.

@@paperclip612 India used to contribute 20% to world GDP in around 1800 AD. Today it's 2 or 3%. Our per capita income is still short of a middle income country. So let's face the reality. But why did this happen, because the Britishers deindustrialized us and made us just an exporter of commodities, which they then converted into finished goods and sold to Indians at a high premium. I don't think there is bigger loot ever done in history than what the British did to India. And here they have the gumption to complain about the extravagance of the Maharajas. Thankfully for India some of those places ruled by good Maharajas were protected from the ravages of the British, the old Mysore state and the kingdoms in Kerala for e.g. which were very well managed.

I am no fan of maharajas but for reasons beyond plain jealousy. As a Hindu that has studied the history of Bharat , these maharajas by dividing their inherited kingdoms among siblings weakened India's ability to defend from Hindu Afghanistan to all across. They where weak bec of internal family issues yet on ancient times they where the only military that had superior tech ( swords made from Indian steel methods which Muslims took to fight crusaders called Damascus steel ) , the battle tank of the ancient armies - trained military assault elephants, even the bow was pulled back using the legs for longer range so it had to be a lack of strategy , no unity , petty differences between these rulers that let a type of enemy enter & defeat most of them - I ref to theiddle east invaders from Persia, Greece then Turks, Mongols & wave after wave of Islamic invaders that have altered India permanently not for the good ! So under British rule these maharajas became puppets & eventually India won its independence & kicked all these characters out. They like the European aristocracy love on a bygone era that is harmless today. Where royalty is impactful & not very beneficial are in Muslim countries & the wealth from looted past coupled with Petro dollars dwarfs the Indian Royals wealth.

I understand your perspective on this matter. It's important to respect and uphold our cultural norms and traditions, which may differ from those of Western cultures. When it comes to matters like arranged marriage, our community may have its own established practices that hold significant value. Expressing concerns about maintaining these cultural values is completely understandable and does not stem from any opposition to love marriages.

It is all a gimmick. a charade. a mind game. If you decide to quit playing then the people who are losing in the game also quit and then you're all equals and in a world of equality a person with a deficit kills a person with surplus.

Good to see these Royals, the best I see by this video is, although they exist only by titles of ancestry nowadays, they have transformed their ancestral possessions to good use or business. The Best of All … They themself do work! Thumbs up for them!
