    Hi Dr. Webb,
I'm currently a junior in undergrad I'm having a tough time landing research opportunities. I've asked several professor that have mentioned in class about their research and none of those were looking for extra help. What would you suggest I do in landing a research opportunity? How do you approach these professors? I've written emails and even talked to them in person. Also, how important is it to have done research in undergrad to get into medical school?
    Thank you,
    Deeqa

      Hi,
Thanks for the comment and watching! Good question! Research is important but not required! I agree, it's hard to find a project but I would say keep trying. You can also say "please contact me if any projects that you may need help in the future, let me know." Good luck! And keep reaching out to people. Someone will eventually get back with you!

There's a government website with internship opportunities ( including research) for undergrads. Google it

As far as the MCAT, it's been about 6-7 years since I've take it. I've heard it's changed since I last took it. But in general, I would take a preparatory course. I took both Kaplan and Princeton. Albeit each course is $2000 or more, that amount is not comparable to what you will make as a physician. Its an investment. Also, do lots lots lots of practice questions. Hire a tutor if you have to. Remember this test score will open up a lot of doors for you and can close doors on you. Apply broadly and pray. Once you submit your app, you can't do nothing but sit back and pray.
I hope this answered your questions, please let me know if you have any more and Good luck! Remember if medicine is something you want to do, NEVER give up!
