Why, that bucket doesn't need to be filled to fill the trucks. If he filled the bucket every time there would be a lot of spillage. Not having to fill the bucket every time saves time.

First of all the trucks are very small for that massive excavator....the operator is smooth and it only takes 2 buckets to load them so that is why it seems so fast.

Can't find a cost online. Weighs 154tons, 820hp 10.6yrd bucket but what's does a beast of a machine like this run?
Those are likely sold in pieces & shipped to mining companies. It likely sold package deal. Literally a excavator/shovel/parts/maintenance deals. Big handshake deal. Its not like buying a car and its yours. They want to sell you more than that machine. They want to bulk sell you trucks and services too. More you do, better deals you get.
A basic handshake for machine unassembled id guess 8millon USD to 20 million, depending on location destination. I doubt anyone buys just the metal though. Companies buy full time maintenance crews that run them to death. Not like little 8-45ton machines. THAT CANT IDLE. It has to run to pay those bills and make them $$$.
Multiple operators, multiple service men, dealership handshake deals with parts on hand nearby, likely companies with a ledger full of equipment handshaking deals.

They rent the trucks, don't have to provide drivers, maintenance, ownership costs, and when they don't need them send them home.

@@mvdijk4985 We don't know how many back dumps it would take as we don't know the length of haul. I agree it would take less drivers but we don't know what they ae paying for the trucks vs what back dumps would cost.
