      I bought and still have my 87 5.0 5 speed LX back in 2007! It had 15K original miles on it, MSD ignition, vortech V1 supercharger and cobra R upper and lower intake. Had the factory blue window sticker. I paid 8,700 for it. Now it has 43,556 miles one it and I swapped the stock heads for GT40 heads and 60lb injectors.

    I love listening to these auction guy try to talk foxbody knowledge is funny. The wing is what made the svo special, na it couldn't have been the 5 lug wheels or the 4 wheel disc breaks, it was the wing. The notch is underapretiated when it's the most sought after of all the regular fox cars. And nobody knows the secret to the notch being the fastest. Ford always brought a 5speed notch to the mustang vs camero comparison all the magazines would run back In the day.

    • @aturboford1

    man seeing this makes me realize how lucky i am to have inherited my grandfathers 91 5.0 convertible

    • @deeremeyer1749
      @deeremeyer1749 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh yes. A "vert". Heavier AND way flimsier than a 5.0 "coupe" and chock full of "unobtainium" ragtop interior and exterior "trim" parts nobody "repops" and you'll never find "NOS" or in "good used" or even "restorable" condition AND with ridiculous insurance costs even by Mustang standards.
      No why "vert" Fox Mustangs are so "rare"? Nobody outside the "Ford family" and a handful of Mustang "collectors" wanted them.
      And by the "early 90s" Ford couldn't give away "5.0" Mustangs thanks to the huge "sales success" of their "Fox platform cousins" the Thunderbird, Thunderbird Turbo Coupe, Thunderbird Super Coupe, Mercury Cougar and Lincoln Mark VIII "LS". Which had the same or better "underpinnings" and actual room for "5 adults" and their "luggage". And one HELL of a lot better "safety ratings". Not to mention actual "resale value".
      You could get a Ford dealership to "trade for" those "Foxes" if they were "one owner" and "adult driven". Ford dealers have NEVER taken Mustangs on "trade" and rarely if ever will even "run through" a Mustang "privately sold" as a "trade in" as part of a "cash deal" for a new Ford vehicle.
      The only way he avoided "losing money" owning that car was to give it to someone that couldn't say no, lol.

    Interesting (based on this one example at least) the SVO Mustang is still a niche market vehicle in today’s collector market much like it was back when it was new in ‘84-86. Despite its rarity they simply don’t fetch money like the regular 5.0’s can. Based on inflation that car has actually lost value (they were just over $15K which equates to $43K today)

      That's the thing that we are starting to see with these mass produced 90's sports cars. Once they become cult favorites and their numbers dwindle, they become coveted. I see a lot of people saying: "wow, I wish I still had my fox body, i would have a furtune now". listen, I just got an 89 GT hatch with a blown motor for $2500, I've got the replacment motor ready for the swap, it's got a hole bashed into the driver's side quarter panel, the passenger side has a dent, Sure I'll have it up and running and maybe even have the body looking nice, but it won't be worth $50k when I'm done, maybe $5k. She'll have some rust underside and a non-numbers matching engine and that's the reality of many of the fox bodies still on the road, they were enjoyed and driven hard by many, so don't beat yourself up too hard by thinking you lost a fortune by selling these cars off years ago. What's being sold here are investment pieces that are in showroom new condition, not at all what the real street survivors are like. That being said, if you yearn for a fox, go find a roller or something else that needs a little work, get it back on the road and save it from rot and scrap.

    • @tvelis513
      @tvelis513 ปีที่แล้ว

      The center caps are missing because they have never been installed. Those cars have not been dealer prepped which is the process the car goes through at the dealer when it comes off the new car hauler and arrives at the dealer. The would have been installed by the technician doing the pre delivery inspection before the vehicle is given to the customer new. Some collectors even today request their new cars not be dealer prepped so that they are as they came from the factory.
