2:00 So, about the strings if you can pull yourself together...? Satch- this one has 6 strings, a skinny one up here and bigger ones down here and they go in order... Do you know what TYPE of strings you like to put on?? Satch- yeah...ooh- look an eyelash.. that's totally unsanitary.. LMFAO!! (totally blows off the douchebag)
He eventually abandons the idea but is unable to match Satchel's comedic riffing. Only someone like Will Ferrell to keep up with Satchel. There should be a Steel Panther movie, I would cast Ben Stiller as their Tour Manager, Tenacious D as a rival band called Titanium Tiger and have Will Ferrell play a metal guitar legend who is living recluse hiding from the public because he quit music after a tragic accident that happened because his solo was so killer it actually made the entire audience catatonic. Satchel is losing his love for rock and roll and starts questioning his lifestyle. He meets Will Ferrell who helps him regain his love for rock and roll and becomes his mentor. It would be a total cliche story and full of dick and fart jokes, very immature and probably get 1 star but be a cult classic. I seriously want this movie made.
Im pretty sure he gets it! I seriously hope so anyway! He lets us know in the 1st min or 2! "Real cheetah?" "The edge has nothing on you!" Matter of fact, theyre probably friends!
Nah. This one was funny because the guy sucked, so Satch just took over and said WTF he wanted to. He's freaking hilarious. She was easier on the eyes tho.
I didn't attend the Guitar Institute of Technology but had friends that did in the mid 1980's. Satchel and Paul Gilbert are buddies and are both students and instructors there. The man can play. Steel Panther are about having a good time and still delivering quality rock n roll and metal. If you leave a Steel Panther show without a smile on your face something is wrong.
That was one of my ex-girlfriends. I took her to see them a few years ago (my fifth or sixth time seeing them at that point) and man, she couldn't find a good time there if it smacked her in the face. I don't know if she was just too uptight or what the deal was, but that was one of the first signs that I knew it wasn't gonna work between us 😂😂
Cool video, nice to see the gear finally, but man... the original Satchel rundown with Rebecca Dirks was a work of art. The gear interview was actually solid, it never seemed forced or fake, and the innuendos were non stop. I swear I've rewatched it over the years at least 20 times. :-) Still probably the greatest Rig Rundown ever. :-)
I don't think anybody really understands that Satchel's attitude, humour and personality when he's a part of Steel Panther is an ACT. People in this comment section really need to lighten up! Could you not tell Russ was joking most of the time by the camera guy laughing his ass off?
"Practise..for about 17 to 18 hours a day for 25 years and then go to law school cuz there's no money in the music business anymore" THIS,THIS!!! He hit the nail on the head. Why we're all raging because we want to learn to play an instrument and actually join a band but no-ones looking for that anymore in the music biz. Oh and Satchel, let the haters hate. They're just jealous they'll never play as good and look as awesome as you do.
I'd guess you are young then. Pursue you goals, but keep an open mind...priorities change. A friend of mine taught a snotty nosed kid from Fairfax some box scales and after a summer of practice the kid came back and said..."like this?"...and his jaw dropped at what the kid played. Kid's name was Sol.They call him Slash now. Good luck!
Toxic Potato So very true. It sucks that we have to give up what we love to do something we hate for the rest of our lives simply to pay the bills or to make a little bit of money to get by. Sad reality.
Toxic Potato I understand that, it is a great feeling. Its also how most big rockers start out. I mean take Satchel, he was in many, many bands that played to small crowds before Steel Panther. Sometimes some people are an exception, he did what he loved and kept at it and here he is now, being endorsed by Kramer and featuring in magazines and interviews worldwide. But then again, sometimes playing to small crowds and just doing what you love (who cares about the money, any money is good money!) is good enough. Not everyone wants to be a big rockstar! Its tough.
I love his shirt. Very informative, the best two hours I've spent, ever. "Just practice for 17-18 hours a day for 25 years, then go to Law School." Words to live by. Satchel is AWESOME. Now, time for a sandwich.
It seems like this interviewer wasn't aware of who this is, and was trying to do an actual gear rundown :D Or he's just one of those guys who never get invited to parties...come on man, couldn't play along a bit?
Satchel is actually an amazing guitarist and has great technique. He is real good, I think he finds it funny to act like that when being interviewed, and it's actually entertaining. He had me laughing the whole time. Come on people take a joke.
Dude, this guy is getting payed to do an interview of an actual artist. This is his job. Satchel is funny, but damn I'd hate to have to deal with that.
Thank you! I'm so glad someone else thought so too! Here I was, reading thru the comments where kids are saying he's "witty". Er, no he's not! He''s buzzing his brain off!
As much as I love Steel Panther and Satchel... but this interview is a mess. Satchel doesn't really talk much about his gear in detail, like a tech would... and the interviewer just seems really frustrated/tired with Satchel.
I would be frustrated too if I was interviewing a Gay LA Metal clown who wears a wig. Thank you Dave Mustaine for the very definition of what GLAM stands for. :-) Steel Panther is about two decades too late to take seriously. Oh boy, I see the backlash comin' on now. Oh no I got an error! "You have an Angry response Ignore, Delete, Plunk" LOL
Awesome as always! Satchel is a funny guy and as we all know, can play like no ones business as well. Used to see these guys before they started Steel Panther playing 80's metal covers in clubs in San Diego back oh 10-15 years ago, damn time flies, airplanes crash. Anyways, it was always a great time seeing them back then and Satchel, man an effortless shred master, especially the Van Halen shite, just ripping it out SofaKing good. So great to see them having their SP success and giving people some laughs and fun along with their great original music. Think of all the super hot ass these guys get, good lawd life just ain't fair ; )

Yawn. Scales up and down, mechanical vibrato...but mostly he is an embarassment. Typical GIT lack of musical skills and only theory...and he doesn't even use that. I knew the guy who owned MIT. I got him one of his best teachers a few years back, in fact. Never the less...yawn.
This was so fun, yet so painful to watch. Someone must have not told Jason about Steel Panther.I felt like he took everything Satchel Said so seriously.,
I find it funny the people that don't get theses guys , I LOVE that are "Making fun of and Celebrating 80s Hair Bands " at the same time . Even though I was more into 80s Trash Metal Bands ,theses guys make me think of my teen years and for that I thank them. Rock ON!!!!
the dude realised early he just needs to let satchel do his thing and not feed him questions for sarcastic responses ahahaha, funniest dude so glad hes doing what hes doing truly keeping metal alive
Best rig rundown ever…. Not the most technical, but funniest for sure…. Satchel keepin it 80’s…. Beyond all his stupid shit he’s actually a good guitar player
I will have to watch this twice and then once whilst high to finally figure out what is going on in here,,,this is beyond the spinal tap! The dude sounds and looks cool I must say!
Jason - let’s talk about the strings.
Satchel - this guitar has 6 strings 😂😂
“This one goes up to eleven”
Do not repeat assface.
Guy- do you know what kinda strings you use?
Satchel- yeah...
Dont worry somebody has that information lmao
GRAHAM CLARK i believe he uses d’addario 9s. i know i ruined the original joke but this is for people who actually wanna know
Jason: "Do you know what type of strings you like to put on 'em?"
Satchel: "Yeah"
"And there's probably 30 or 40 frets..."
Hahaha

That was good. Guy needs to smoke a joint haha
17 in a row, I think.
Satchel‘a ability to remain in character without cracking a laugh is incredible. Lol
he just stuped
"There's probably... 30 or 40 frets" he's truly a professional guitar player.
Does he play a Sky guitar?
I love how satchel just comes with a smart-ass response or bullshit response like instantly
More instant than instant coffee or instant brownies. The lead singer is cool too.
crack hell of a druhg!
this guy is actually trying to do a real interview with Satchel😂😂😂😂😂😂
Rule#1: You don't do a normal interview with Satchel.
Rule#2: You don't do a normal interview with Steel Panther

Satchel needed Rebecca back
Nah. This one was funny because the guy sucked, so Satch just took over and said WTF he wanted to. He's freaking hilarious. She was easier on the eyes tho.
Jason: "He's Satchel. I'm Jason."
Satchel: "Thanks for explaining that."
LMBAO!!

lmbao? laughing my butt ass off?
@Fok yu I black guy named Josh ? OK then
@Jack Dude laughing my bitchin ass off*
Laughing My Bold Ass off
"I love the Floyd Rose! And they don't even pay me to say that!" Still laughing.....
It's painful watching this guy trying to out-funny Satchel.
DickTruth no one out-funnys Satchel
Right?!!
DickTruth true
Yeah, it's as if Premier called Geek Squad and hired one of their computer specialists to do a Steel Panther interview!
did you not hear him say not to say mean things? smh

Agreed!
So true, that was pure comedy!
Erik Z yeup! thats how i started listening to steel panther
Erik Z The chemistry between those two was palpable
Erik Z She is a girl, its obviously...
"Mid all the way left for Pantera, all the way right for Van Halen."
Hahahahahahaha!!!!
This is the best interview in the history of interviews.
"Our bass player makes a lot of mistakes."
If i had a nickel
He says that allot, also the lead singers fat
How ironic nowadays
Never happens. They call me quarters because I’m always in the fuckin’ pocket bud.

It's really hard to understand how people still don't get that theyre a parody band...

I want to see Satchel and Ryan Reynolds hangout. The humor is so on par.
Hmmm I dunno if RR is that funny IRL, or if he delivers a script well.
Of all the rundowns it seems satchel has the most fun
Bring back Rebbecca
apparently she still can't walk or talk after the last interview...
lmao...Satchel should have a talk show
It seems like this interviewer wasn't aware of who this is, and was trying to do an actual gear rundown :D Or he's just one of those guys who never get invited to parties...come on man, couldn't play along a bit?
MrCorvusC some of the interviewers they have now do some homework beforehand
This particular interviewer is a wet noodle. His rundowns always suck. Satchel saved this one! 😂
that's what makes it funny. chill.
stop saying mean things on youtube
So much spinal tap vibes. Love satchel!
His whole stick is not answering anything he’s hilarious .
I've been waiting for this for way too long
8:37 the most meaningful and true thing ever said in a rig rundown!

Satchel:
Oo look an eyelash!

I wish I went to GIT when he was teaching.
Probably the best Rig Rundown ever.
Hahhaha, this guy is so pissed off that Satchel isn't taking him seriously, and u can hear the other people cracking up. Fuckin' gold
Satchel is hilarious. He is actually a pretty smart guy, and a classically trained guitar player.

11:51 He knew the interview was a train wreck. Respect lol
You gotta respect his ability to come up with funny bullshit on the spot.
Am I only person who still missing Rebecca Dirks...
Satchel rocks! He's quick with the wit and humor. Awesome!
"Can we just stay focused on the gear" LOLOLOL Satchel
Satchel videos are STILL the best videos!
As much as I love Steel Panther and Satchel... but this interview is a mess.
