I'm already "aware" of the concept of Ikigai. I've also read about it before, but the way you phrased it and explained it made it interesting even though I already know what it is.
I also like your perspective on Point #3:
"Don't ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive."
    Very nice!

I'm Japanese and my hope is that people in Japan can actually have some time to slow down and apply this beautiful concept of ikigai to our lives.
Seriously, our working environments are so damaging and too many people are dying... or becoming mentally ill.
I'm not dissing this video or anything, please understand that. For starters, I'll think about my ikigai. Gotta start from myself before anything else, right😉??

Yeah I get it all of this, all of this find your passion things but: I DONT INOW MY PASSION. I had work at many things, I’ve be owner and employer, I work alone and with many people and still this day I don’t know what I want, what’s my passion. Is very frustrating to see many people saying that the way of live is follow your passion if I don’t know what my passion.
I know that I need to listening my heart but my heart don’t speak a lot.

I have multiple passions , but instead of having 3 passions at once , i have one passion at a time untill i get bored/burned out and either monkey branch to something else or gaming (if there isnt anything else to go to , i go to gaming) , gaming seems to be the only semi-consistent one , and when i am burned out on gaming , i usually burn out on basically everything else and despretly try to seek another game or passion
      There are my passions
-Gaming , this is the most consistent and most powerful one , i guess i dont have one passion but i have gaming and another secondary passion most of the time , but sometimes it can just end up being a super passion when nothing else remains
-Art (drawing) , I like drawing stuff , this seems to be the second most consistent one , it tends to for like 2-3 months i think
-Running a youtube channel , but it tend to go on and off , i whould like to have any sort of consistency to my upload schedule but because i sometimes get bored/burnout , i guess my channel is kinda dead right now...
-Programming , this one is usually short but intense , its like 1 week and i think i had the programming passion impulse for like 2-3 times , the longest lasting for like 2-3 weeks (i learned python basics during this time) but the others where like less than a week i think
idk if its a passion as much as a intrest

    • @anthonyluong
      @anthonyluong 4 ปีที่แล้ว +14

The truth is, you don't 'find' a passion you BUILD one. For example, fitness is my passion and I never knew it was until I was 23 I made the decision to show up to the gym 3-5 days a week without fail and make it my lifestyle and being consistent. I wasn't passionate about it at first but I made the commitment and once you become good at something you'll want to get better and progress even further, you will surprise yourself with the progress you've made and never want to stop become of the positive feedback you get from not giving up, the progression you've made and proving to yourself that you can do whatever you put your mind to. You just to be curious, problem solve to improve and enjoy the progress. That's how you build a habit and a passion.

    • @anthonyluong
      @anthonyluong 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

@@mitchelldennis4659 There are always ways to monitize a passion. Master your passion, become so good at it that other people with a similar passion would want to see you excel at it or teach, create a community and provide value to other people so that they can learn to get as good as you are at that particular passion.

After dropping out of college I spent an entire year in my room doing nothing but playing video games, full blown pron addict. I lost my girlfriend, my perspective future, etc. I now work 6 days a week in labor, working outside. Seeing and exploring my county and surrounding areas. Its changed my life forever. I see how my community lives and functions . Im learning practical skills and ive improved myself physically/mentally. Now new amazing opportunities have opened up to me because of networking and meeting many helpful people along the way. I now have the option to start my own business, Purchase a house, brand new car all because i took the leap and decided i wanted to add true value to myself. Obviously you don't have to do what I did but for me it was a foot in the door and it gave me a lot of what i was truly was missing in my life. Eventually ill have work/life balance but after I grind to get the things that i want first.

I don't enjoy anything anymore, not even vice, eating, volunteering, working for things I believe in. Nothing, I have no dreams, no motivation, no will for anything. I just have bad and worse. For a long time I had it like that but I'd get lost in a moment and make things work, but not any more, I lost focus, I can dig deep into my work and lose it in few minutes. I lost joy in all things I used to love so much.

It helps when you get on with your colleagues too 👊😊

One must enter into the very thing you are busy doing.
You naturally merge with it. You love it, completely - and you spontaneously love each moment, whilst rejoicing in the lifeforce within and all aroound.
Connect with the Sun and the Moon and the trees, birds, animals..
Make friends of all :-) in your heart.
It's a state of total awareness. No noise.
It's a process of letting go and surrender.
    It's not a struggle.
    It begins with meditation practice.
It's called The Way, or The Tao.
You must become that Way again, because that's what you already are. You just don't remember any longer.
You must just remember again. Gently.

Good to see I’m already on the right track. That “flow state”, I sing songs while I’m doing work. Make a habit of not looking at the clock. I changed work to “fun”. So when I wake up in the morning I play music and say I’m going to have fun. Ahaha but this only really works because I have a bigger purpose I’m working towards. Working hard, anyone can do. But working/ grinding with a purpose makes life yours. You’re not lost anymore. If I could visit 17yr old me? I’d tell me to find my purpose first.

I just realized that I experience the flow state alot.
    Ahhh sheet..
I also knew why I tend to procrastinate is cuz I my body's pride on not doing stuff I'm stressed up and it doesn't think it benefit me.
I try to do something about it tho.. But before I realize it. I already do what I want. It's just not yet aligned on what I am responsible to do.
Still trying to figure out how I can align these stuff my way tho.
I was only a bit sure if I'm going somewhere and this video supports my way alot.

Do not be a victim of life, just get up earlier than you usually do, and start the day in a good way ... for ... 2 weeks, even 1 week will make difference in how you feel

The people of this village don’t retire because they never started ‘work’ as we understand the word.
We all give our time to others, be it their business or another worker on same project.
The people of this village build, fish grow crops and supply trade to their immediate family and neighbours. It’s simply their life. This it is all meaningful. They have value in all tasks.

I have been doing some of this by accident from spinning up my Tarot practice. Now I have a foundation to reference and build upon. Great video, easy to digest and I learned a lot.

Ikigai finally made more sense. I found myself struggling with the money-making part, and thought that Ikigai was a criteria when it's actually a process. Thank you for clearing this up. I feel a lot more confident about my path in life after watching.

This reminds me of the book ikigai which I read last year.... to be honest no one needs any advice on how to live their life or on how to be productive. If you think it’s worth it you’ll have all the motivation you need without putting in any external effort... Just keep on going until you find a reason in life. Until then, enjoy the ride without dwelling too much into the complexities of life.

Somebody looked up how to pronounce this incredible hungarian name ^^ You have my respect.. English speakers usually butcher any names that aren't well known. And this one is certainly one of the harder ones.
