1 minute in and I am here, Goddamn that was fast! Andrew, you Inspired me to create youtube content as well, gonna start moving toward a direction. Thanks a lot
you literally changed my life from unmotivated and depressed to motivated and happy, those videos are so calming and inspiring. I watch you for months and you helped me SO SO much. Thank you for giving me myself back, you are truly amazing Andrew
I'm already "aware" of the concept of Ikigai. I've also read about it before, but the way you phrased it and explained it made it interesting even though I already know what it is. I also like your perspective on Point #3: "Don't ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive." Very nice!
the thing I love the most about your content is that it gives you real-time applicable advice on self-improvement and spiritual fulfillment without the corny over the top positive guru talk. and what's even better is that you're self-aware about it. keep up the good work mate
I'm Japanese and my hope is that people in Japan can actually have some time to slow down and apply this beautiful concept of ikigai to our lives. Seriously, our working environments are so damaging and too many people are dying... or becoming mentally ill. I'm not dissing this video or anything, please understand that. For starters, I'll think about my ikigai. Gotta start from myself before anything else, right😉?? 生き甲斐かぁ... 何だろうなぁ...

Sometimes I read the news/scroll through social media and I get disappointed with contemporary people asking myself "How did we get to THIS?" and then I watch your videos and I sense that there are still people who can uplift this world and drag our decadent and lost generation from the cesspit of stupidity. Well done, Andrew, well done. You are on your way to be a role model and a leader.
After dropping out of college I spent an entire year in my room doing nothing but playing video games, full blown pron addict. I lost my girlfriend, my perspective future, etc. I now work 6 days a week in labor, working outside. Seeing and exploring my county and surrounding areas. Its changed my life forever. I see how my community lives and functions . Im learning practical skills and ive improved myself physically/mentally. Now new amazing opportunities have opened up to me because of networking and meeting many helpful people along the way. I now have the option to start my own business, Purchase a house, brand new car all because i took the leap and decided i wanted to add true value to myself. Obviously you don't have to do what I did but for me it was a foot in the door and it gave me a lot of what i was truly was missing in my life. Eventually ill have work/life balance but after I grind to get the things that i want first.
I don't usually leave comments on social media. Just wanted to say a huge thank you for your content and the way you express these concepts. You have been an inspiration and motivation to me in a difficult moment of my life. Keep it up and wish you all the success you deserve.
Yeah I get it all of this, all of this find your passion things but: I DONT INOW MY PASSION. I had work at many things, I’ve be owner and employer, I work alone and with many people and still this day I don’t know what I want, what’s my passion. Is very frustrating to see many people saying that the way of live is follow your passion if I don’t know what my passion. I know that I need to listening my heart but my heart don’t speak a lot.

The truth is, you don't 'find' a passion you BUILD one. For example, fitness is my passion and I never knew it was until I was 23 I made the decision to show up to the gym 3-5 days a week without fail and make it my lifestyle and being consistent. I wasn't passionate about it at first but I made the commitment and once you become good at something you'll want to get better and progress even further, you will surprise yourself with the progress you've made and never want to stop become of the positive feedback you get from not giving up, the progression you've made and proving to yourself that you can do whatever you put your mind to. You just to be curious, problem solve to improve and enjoy the progress. That's how you build a habit and a passion.
@@mitchelldennis4659 There are always ways to monitize a passion. Master your passion, become so good at it that other people with a similar passion would want to see you excel at it or teach, create a community and provide value to other people so that they can learn to get as good as you are at that particular passion.
This concept of IKIGAI is so powerful! Thank you sir Andrew!! I don't enjoy anything anymore, not even vice, eating, volunteering, working for things I believe in. Nothing, I have no dreams, no motivation, no will for anything. I just have bad and worse. For a long time I had it like that but I'd get lost in a moment and make things work, but not any more, I lost focus, I can dig deep into my work and lose it in few minutes. I lost joy in all things I used to love so much.
The concept of ikigai is great and yes the biggest problem is that most people land up in jobs that they never love/expected and that leads to frustration, negativity etc, ur video is excellent in terms of motivation, clarity and realistically thinking and great advice, hope people really follow it..
I think the part about living a slow life is so important. My current situation is great, and yet I have trouble enjoying myself day to day sometimes because of that feeling of "I should be doing more". Taking time to slow down and appreciate the here and now is so important.

Good to see I’m already on the right track. That “flow state”, I sing songs while I’m doing work. Make a habit of not looking at the clock. I changed work to “fun”. So when I wake up in the morning I play music and say I’m going to have fun. Ahaha but this only really works because I have a bigger purpose I’m working towards. Working hard, anyone can do. But working/ grinding with a purpose makes life yours. You’re not lost anymore. If I could visit 17yr old me? I’d tell me to find my purpose first.
I really connected to this topic of this video, perhaps because the first principle of IKIGAI is very similar (if not the same ) to the Yoga and Meditation (which is my area of interest) term of "Samadhi" or in a simple translation as full absorption in transcendence. since transcendence is all around us it can be perceived in any activity provided we connected to that activity in transcendental consciousness. grateful that I find your channel here, great stuff , thirsty for more ...
Some years ago I had goal which I wanted to learn English so I'd be able to at least consume things I like to listen, read or watch about. Well, I'm so glad I did it.
Thank you so much Andrew Kirby. Lately I've been struggling mentally, really struggling with the reason I'm alive. I'd ask myself, why am I even here. It's not a nice feeling at all. I'm a hundred percent grateful for you sharing this information with us. ❤️
Marsha Sinetar’s wrote the book Do What You Love and the Money Will Follow, but in a workshop she said, “...but don’t give up your day job.” Being stressed about money throws a wrench into most projects and planning. Money helps you climb up from Maslow’s bottom rung of the hierarchy of needs.
This video could not have had better timing. You explained exactly everything I needed to hear, and I feel so much more inspired to pursue that musical career that has always been seething through the crevices of a locked box; now I have the means of a key to open it. You have my gratitude.
Honestly, I had forgotten what my flow was like. Like a 30 hit combo that you would get on Mortal Kombat but it's real life. Thank you for reminding me about this.
I really need this right now as I am finding my purpose and so lost I am 18 still don't know what I'm gonna do for the future. Thank you TH-cam Algorithm for showing me this video.
This reminds me of the book ikigai which I read last year.... to be honest no one needs any advice on how to live their life or on how to be productive. If you think it’s worth it you’ll have all the motivation you need without putting in any external effort... Just keep on going until you find a reason in life. Until then, enjoy the ride without dwelling too much into the complexities of life.
I can feel how much you care about making these videos, my guy. Gratitude to you for the work you're doing and the new insights you put out on your channel. Big up and respect.
This is why I'm happy at work, but not at home where I have to write about what I'm doing at work, for my apprenticeship. I relatively often get into the flow state at work when I'm doing practical work. I'm happy when I'm doing, not when I'm writing about what I did. A necessary evil I guess. It helps when you get on with your colleagues too 👊😊
Ikigai finally made more sense. I found myself struggling with the money-making part, and thought that Ikigai was a criteria when it's actually a process. Thank you for clearing this up. I feel a lot more confident about my path in life after watching.
i have a struggle. i love too many things. i love woodworking, animation, 3d visualizations, 3d printing, modelmaking, interior design, hiking.... maybe i can meet them all in stop motion animation. with a sprinkle of vfx. hmm. ok i may not have a problem :D
Omg, ive been getting micro flow states every day on opiates (perscribed), and then i got addicted but micro flow states disapeard and i stopped taking em, still taking em from time to time but i couldnt find what was the thing that im missing from the pills. And now you helped me realize that it wasnt from pills.
I'm literally watching this in front of my flow copy, couldn't concentrate on the book (even tho I'm loving it) so I opened TH-cam and this video showed up. Yer a wizard, Andrew 🧚♂️
I have been doing some of this by accident from spinning up my Tarot practice. Now I have a foundation to reference and build upon. Great video, easy to digest and I learned a lot.
Hey Andrew! I’m pretty early, hope you see this, but if you haven’t already, I’d love to see you do a video on the concept of kaizen (かいぜん) “constant improvement” and/or maemuki まえめき or “forward facing.” I have Japanese roots and seeing eastern concepts integrated into western lifestyle through your videos makes me happy and more eager to apply them. Cheers!
Judging from what I do in a day and looking at time. I just realized that I experience the flow state alot. Ahhh sheet.. I also knew why I tend to procrastinate is cuz I my body's pride on not doing stuff I'm stressed up and it doesn't think it benefit me. I try to do something about it tho.. But before I realize it. I already do what I want. It's just not yet aligned on what I am responsible to do. Still trying to figure out how I can align these stuff my way tho. I was only a bit sure if I'm going somewhere and this video supports my way alot.
Do not be a victim of life, just get up earlier than you usually do, and start the day in a good way ... for ... 2 weeks, even 1 week will make difference in how you feel
You're being really helpful with the content you're posting. Young or old, rich or poor, this does help every human being. Thank you for this amazing contribution!❤ Long way to go.
Good job Andrew. It is amazing the similarities. If you start with the end in mind, see how your life could be laid out in front of you, it gives great clarity on where you want to go. I have been so excited to get out of bed and start my days. This has only been for the last two months.
Andrew, thanks for this video. I keep seeing the theme of being present in the moment as being the key to true happiness from all sorts of thought, religious and philosophical systems. I think, if you ever want to expand on this concept and make another video, the book "The Power of Now" by Ekhart Tolle might be of great help.
I'm soo excited for life, right now i have to finish premed, which i'm not enjoying as much because i'm learning some stuff i dont want to learn but im making the mosr of it bc its required to graduate, and then go to medical school, which is going to be a dream because learning these things is so much funn. I'm so excited to become a doctor❤ the journey is so much fun and it will never end because i will continue to learn and when i become an attending i will be able to start my business in hopes to extend high quality treatment to people of most socioeconomic classes- not just the rich. I'm just so lucky to be able to do this.
Knowing already the concept of IKIGAI and after taking the time for it on and working on a big whiteboard, it would be great for a lot of people to maybe show them how to create the list and how to work through it as a part 2. I'm sure that it will be eyeopening for a lot of people, after knowing how to do it the correct way .... especially the Kirby way ;) Great Job Andrew! Your very own style of seeing things a bit different and going the extra mile in the explanations makes that small but important difference! You got my attention from the beginning! Keep going! I got some other ideas that would fit greatly in your style if you're interested.
Hey Andrew just wanna tell you that I love your work and the way you express yourself man. Me being self improvement youtuber myself. I do get discouraged with the way I talk but then I see your first video and your latest video and it inspires me. You are a testimonial to growth on TH-cam. Much love to you man
Somebody looked up how to pronounce this incredible hungarian name ^^ You have my respect.. English speakers usually butcher any names that aren't well known. And this one is certainly one of the harder ones.
This is what you live for, the passion and the purpose of your life. Have you found your ikigai yet? It is the joy found in living, whether it is your job, volunteer work, your family or your friends. It is what you are trying to achieve from this life that you were given.
I am in a moment when i can tell that i have 3 of the 4 parts of ikigai, i do something that im very good at, something that the world needs, definitely gives me money, but i don't really love, just it's my job, i constantly study and improve about it, that's why i become very good at, but i'm not happy with that, yeah, is great because i don't have money problems... but i constantly think about end my life. Nobody around me understand why i'm always so sad, because "hey, you have cars, you have your own house, you don't have to think about getting to the end of the month" but simply it's a sad life, 0 motivation, i was watching your videos and reading spiritual stuff to try to figure out why i don't find joy in life in general, i'm alone, i'm 32 and few friends and no girlfriend since i broke up a 10 years relationship 4 years ago... And now COVID situation and i'm great! I work from home, when almost all my relatives and few friends are struggling with their jobs... I don't know, everybody tells me that i need to shut up and be grateful for what i have and be happy, like, being happy is something like you can turn a switch on and that's it... My passion are cars, but i never tried working in something related to cars because i studied IT, and i'm a very good IT Professional and i think that it's too late to switch career at this moment, and more if you think that cars are dying, that people don't care about cars, to them are simply disposable things to throw away when they get a little old or if something start failing... It's my hobbie, i have all my tools, scanners, sapre parts, i do my own maintenance, I have 4 cars and a bike and i don't remember the last time i needed to went to a professional mechanic because when something broke down I buy the tools to fix it instead of taking the car to the shop. But then, I think i'm too old, I don't have energy to change that, simply I'm tired of this twisted world and my fucking country doing everything wrong (Argentina)... I am only happy when I sleep. I want to end this. Sorry for the catharsis.
Hey mate! Greetings from France, I'm glad that you're alive and doing great at your job; but reading your comment entirely made me realised that you gotta push, you gotta go after what you utmost love in life: your cars. I know that the comfort that your current job is providing you is fantastic but if this job is making you unhappy, try to save up a good load of money and then spend it into learning new skills when it comes to cars. I'm not an expert but it did pain me tho, seeing that a 32 years old man is thinking of being too "old" for changing his life! You're just 32, dude! You have plenty of time to feel "old" :D Hopefully my commet finds you well and I wish you (and to your country) a very good year!
On my previous job people in depression were sent to a month vacation. It may help, taking off responsibilities and letting yourself be a lasy bum for some time (maybe travel a bit). I think..
Oh man, I love these videos and the concept of Ikigai, but the way Andrew says "Awk-i-naw-ah" is killing me Thanks for your work on the video, man! Love your work and appreciate how serious you are about it and making people's lives better.
I preferred The Futur's video on ikigai rather than yours honestly, but I think it's just because you focus rather on life, and just talk, while in The Futur's video, ikigai is always there and I have it in mind for the whole video
I don´t feeld lost, i feel indifferent about each. It starts, it ends. I don know in which direction it takes me. Most times it´s good, seldom it´s bad (or bed)
Hey Andrew, I hope you will read this! First of all: Thank you again, your videos are great. Secondly: I recently came across something in the youtube recommendations which really surprised me: The book "proverbs" of the bible. Its just a list of different wisdoms and so many of them I have really experienced in life and can say they are true. Maybe its worth a video?

I really connected to this topic of this video, perhaps because the first principle of IKIGAI is very similar (if not the same ) to the Yoga and Meditation (which is my area of interest) term of "Samadhi" or in a simple translation as full absorption in transcendence. since transcendence is all around us it can be perceived in any activity provided we connected to that activity in transcendental consciousness. grateful that I find your channel here, great stuff , thirsty for more ...
Beautiful information. These gifts that you put out into the world are much appreciated.
Sounds like a long way to go. Let‘s do it
Some years ago I had goal which I wanted to learn English so I'd be able to at least consume things I like to listen, read or watch about. Well, I'm so glad I did it.
@@MahaloLuz Your english is great
@@Bielocke Thank you! \o/
That’s your first mistake
Your videos teach things we were meant to learn in school to prepare us for adulthood and its ups & downs.. thanks for filling that gap man!
"something your good at" ...ah i knew there was a catch
I've been to Okinawa in the past two years. And seriously, I would love to go back and LIVE there!
Definitely in my top 3 favorite videos of yours. INCREDIBLY PRESENTED AS PER USUAL 😭😭💖
This video was awesome! Thank you so much for this, I put myself in a flow state watching this lol
This video could not have had better timing.
You explained exactly everything I needed to hear, and I feel so much more inspired to pursue that musical career that has always been seething through the crevices of a locked box; now I have the means of a key to open it. You have my gratitude.
I’m so thankful to have your TH-cam channel! You provide really high quality insight and you always get straight to it! Thank you!!
Honestly, I had forgotten what my flow was like. Like a 30 hit combo that you would get on Mortal Kombat but it's real life.
Thank you for reminding me about this.
I can't thank you enough.
I really need this right now as I am finding my purpose and so lost I am 18 still don't know what I'm gonna do for the future.
Thank you TH-cam Algorithm for showing me this video.
Dont worry .I have the exact same issue aswell
@@twilightsparkle3073 ☹️ Let's be friends
@@philipuality7917 ofcourse I'd love to . It's been years since some one asked me that ....but how do we talk to each other tho?
This reminds me of the book ikigai which I read last year.... to be honest no one needs any advice on how to live their life or on how to be productive. If you think it’s worth it you’ll have all the motivation you need without putting in any external effort... Just keep on going until you find a reason in life. Until then, enjoy the ride without dwelling too much into the complexities of life.
I can feel how much you care about making these videos, my guy. Gratitude to you for the work you're doing and the new insights you put out on your channel. Big up and respect.
I read that book. This video directly define that book. Its beautiful

Honestly I’m happy about two thinks, one: understanding that I know nothing, and two ANDREW KIRBY
I would like to see a video about fear of failure - not really fear of failure itself - but of loss of hope that failure would make unavoidable.
Ikigai finally made more sense. I found myself struggling with the money-making part, and thought that Ikigai was a criteria when it's actually a process. Thank you for clearing this up. I feel a lot more confident about my path in life after watching.
This guy is one of the few people on youtube who arent full of shit. Extremely good content.
i have a struggle. i love too many things. i love woodworking, animation, 3d visualizations, 3d printing, modelmaking, interior design, hiking.... maybe i can meet them all in stop motion animation. with a sprinkle of vfx. hmm. ok i may not have a problem :D
Omg, ive been getting micro flow states every day on opiates (perscribed), and then i got addicted but micro flow states disapeard and i stopped taking em, still taking em from time to time but i couldnt find what was the thing that im missing from the pills. And now you helped me realize that it wasnt from pills.
Do everything with intention. Be in the present moment more and focus on the thing at hand. Do what interests you. Do what the world needs.
I'm literally watching this in front of my flow copy, couldn't concentrate on the book (even tho I'm loving it) so I opened TH-cam and this video showed up. Yer a wizard, Andrew 🧚♂️
*Thank you Andrew Kirby for changing my life, I love you* ❤️
i feel amazing every time i listen to your TH-cam videos. Thanks Mate .
Ignorance is bliss, that's why flow state is such a good coping mechanism for having a conscious.
I have been doing some of this by accident from spinning up my Tarot practice. Now I have a foundation to reference and build upon. Great video, easy to digest and I learned a lot.
Thanks Andrew! Your videos are so refreshing to maintan a focused mind.
Cheers!
You meant まえむき 前向き. Not being mean or anything.
That's cool you have Japanese roots!!
Cheers from a Japanese person😉
rockintelligence i am very rusty trying to remember my hiragana 😅
@@Zenmaruu You were really close!! So, don't worry😀
You really have a way of drawing in an audience and these videos couldn’t have come at a better time in my life. 🙏🏾
You're going to change the world, Andrew. This video was EXACTLY what I needed to hear.
I'm half way into the video and I'm already feeling it, just had to pause and like and comment. Great stuff man.
Darling I can’t believe that you’re so much younger than me and yet your mind flow is amazing. A big Inspiration!
your a legend man thank you , and i hope you know your changing lives
Bless you Son... Nice video.
.
Andrew this might just be your best video
It's hard listening to such good advice from someone so good looking & young
I'm soo excited for life, right now i have to finish premed, which i'm not enjoying as much because i'm learning some stuff i dont want to learn but im making the mosr of it bc its required to graduate, and then go to medical school, which is going to be a dream because learning these things is so much funn. I'm so excited to become a doctor❤ the journey is so much fun and it will never end because i will continue to learn and when i become an attending i will be able to start my business in hopes to extend high quality treatment to people of most socioeconomic classes- not just the rich. I'm just so lucky to be able to do this.
The video that the world needs right now
Knowing already the concept of IKIGAI and after taking the time for it on and working on a big whiteboard, it would be great for a lot of people to maybe show them how to create the list and how to work through it as a part 2.
I'm sure that it will be eyeopening for a lot of people, after knowing how to do it the correct way .... especially the Kirby way ;)
Great Job Andrew!
Much love to you man
*Amazing that there are so many ways that we don’t know yet, but thank you for sharing this with us!* 🙏
One of the best videos on this platform
Somebody looked up how to pronounce this incredible hungarian name ^^ You have my respect.. English speakers usually butcher any names that aren't well known. And this one is certainly one of the harder ones.
I did the Ikigai first nearly a year ago, really awesome tool, gives you a lot of clarity about your life mission!
2nd time watching this. I’m going to watch this every few months to remind myself of this oh so valuable info!
This is what you live for, the passion and the purpose of your life. Have you found your ikigai yet?
It is the joy found in living, whether it is your job, volunteer work, your family or your friends. It is what you are trying to achieve from this life that you were given.
wow this video needs more views!
You have plenty of time to feel "old" :D
Hopefully my commet finds you well and I wish you (and to your country) a very good year!
On my previous job people in depression were sent to a month vacation. It may help, taking off responsibilities and letting yourself be a lasy bum for some time (maybe travel a bit). I think..
Oh man, I love these videos and the concept of Ikigai, but the way Andrew says "Awk-i-naw-ah" is killing me
Thanks for your work on the video, man! Love your work and appreciate how serious you are about it and making people's lives better.
I preferred The Futur's video on ikigai rather than yours honestly, but I think it's just because you focus rather on life, and just talk, while in The Futur's video, ikigai is always there and I have it in mind for the whole video
Hey Andrew, here you have my recognition. Thank you for doing what you like, are good at, and we like to hear. I hope it'll bring you money!
Thanks your videos really changed my point of view of life
Find out what you love and pursue it will all your heart!
Aaah the Monday thing is soooo accurate!
Hey Andrew, you are an inspiration to create videos. Keep up the great work. Also this new thumbnail is far more clickable than the other one.
This is what I needed needed now... Thamk u so Andrew 😊
Great work 🙌
I don´t feeld lost, i feel indifferent about each.
Guess i said it on another Andrew's video, but i've changed my mind: This is the best video on TH-cam. Thank you, boy.
The overlap between the forces of ikigai is the cover photo on my facebook. But i'm still lost and need some direction. Thank you for this ergo.
Soon Andrew is gonna write a book on the concept of intentionalism
I love your videos, they come just in time!
