I bought a NOCTUA NF-A4x10 5V fan. Used some cardboard and cut a hole for vent. Then used some tape and I had a basic cover+fan. Then I cut up an old USB cable and connected the red + black wire to the fan. It runs on the +5V from the back USB. The temps on the SSD went down from 84°C to 62°C on the controller and from 65°C to 41°C on the memory chips.
Now that's some serious DIY right there! Which memory configuration are you running btw? I've heard of some problems when these run in single channel mode.
@@TeamPandory I use Crucial 2x32GB DDR5 4800MHz. These are fully stacked with chips on the bot and top side. So much heat generating. For now my only wish is to give the iGPU more power. My GMKtec K1 45W gives more frames in Genshin Impact if I limit the iGPU to 2050MHz :)

The prefect review! I really appreciate your deliberate, rapid-fire style. So many reviewers spend 3x as much time covering the same information. I've been waiting for a review of this particular unit for a while. And can't wait for one on the GMKtec K4 with its RDNA-3 graphics. GMKtec seems to be the price leader in these high-end Mini PC's so it would be interesting to know if they cut any corners on memory speeds, thermals or other performance factors.
Pew pew pew! 😂 Thanks for the kind comment, and yeah- I really am interested to see what they have in store next. These mini pc units are no laughing matter, they finally are packing heat 💪
excellent video!!1. looks like your keyboard is set up wirelessly?? how do I set that up? I have a wireless keyboard and mouse as well, I thought maybe i had to put the pc in bluetooth mode?? thanks!!
Is there a way to install a 2.5 inch HDD with cable extension? There are reviews that say the Bluetooth connection doesn't work well. Does it connect well without any problems?
Hi, is it possible to use NVME PCIe 4.0 SSD on this Computer? In the CrystalDiskInfo application it says that the bus is 3.0, but in CPU-Z it says that the bus is PCIe 4.0, do you know why?
I'm pretty sure that PCIe 4.0 is supported, (says so on their site), but personally I haven't tried it... Yet. The NVMe included is a Lexar 610 Pro - A PCIe gen3x4.
News: most of your hardware comes from China... Playstation, Apple, etc. But yeah, we get it, and the gmktec minipcs dont need a connection to get windows up and running. All the gmktec models we've seen are clean. There's been no reports of adware / virus, but if you want to be sure you can check yourself once booted up.
I bought one also, and tbh, its performing surprisingly well. Theres one thing that is bugging me, i only see RAM frequency operating at a 2400Mhz max on cpuz, (it was supposed to get up to a 4800Mhz frequency). Its sk Hynix 2x8gb ddr5 (4800mhz)... Any chance this thing is somehow limited on bios? Any clues?
Check through Google as to why, but each stick of DDR5 is DUAL channel, when you have two sticks in it's "quad channel" according to the marketing. At the end of the day, DDR5 is a bit odd, 2400x2 = 4800mhz, it's going at the correct speed.
Did you think the ryzen 7 7735H with the radeon 680m can run xbox 360 with a good fps now? Please tell me i want to buy one laptop only for xenia emulation
@@serenityep2 yes, but the case is flawed. The memory on the k2 doesn't get cooling at the top so it can thermal throttle. The K5 is a refresh of the K2 with a secondary fan and new case.
