Hi Georgia, just wanna say that it's very heartening to see caucasian expats wanting to assimilate with locals. Singaporeans aren't the friendliest bunch and can be a tad xenophobic but it's so nice to see people trying to understand the culture here. I work with expats and sometimes hear their frustrations at how their co-workers barely invite them into their lives but it definitely takes two hands to clap and great to see that your colleagues have been welcoming. I've watched your videos since you moved to Singapore and you've grown tremendously. However long you are still in Singapore, I just thought you should know from a Singaporean that you've been very kind to this sometimes-brutal country and I hope the people you've met have extended that hospitality to you. xx

Well can u rly blame locals I mean look at SG so densely populated and much crowded after the influx of foreigners in SG in the 2000s..... Not to mention locals' anxiety in job competition.... Blame the policy not locals
I love that you work with Singaporeans and you have such a positive and great attitude about your life in your adopted country. It's so so nice to see watch you grow as a person through your vlogs - from your first few days in Singapore to all you are experiencing now! The bit you talked about at the end on overworking ; it's so true about Singaporean culture. We never really go home on time, ever, not even in schools. I'm only 15 in a local school in Singapore and regular school hours start at 700 and end at 2-3 but most of us have after school activities which end at 6+ 😵 3-4 times a week - and usually; we don't even leave at 630 we just stay on til' about 7 finishing up everything, and we're still expected to go home and study despite most of us staying in school almost 12 hours a day ; literally half the day.. lol

Yea school life is the good life for sure, but I know no one believes it is until they're out of school and working, because I'm one of those people. Working adults will always say school time is the best time, but we'll always ignore them until adulthood hits us 😂
God Rules True, but the vast majority that do, would all go through the same process. I hate school > adults say school's best time > we ignore > we graduate > adult life begins > we start saying dammit school life really is best life 😂
It's really lovely to see you wanna immerse yourself in Singaporean culture. In contrast, I work with a lot of westerners and I am really one of the very few Singaporeans there and I know how some of them prefer to stick to what they know or are familiar with. There are also some like you who loves asking me questions about Singapore and our culture and I am more than happy to answer them as I am a native. I love your videos because you seem to very down to earth and humble! 😊 x

I really enjoyed this video! I just wanted to say that I'm so glad to have seen you grow as a person and assimilate into the culture here, from the time you first came till now. I did live in the UK for awhile and I remember watching your videos whenever I felt home sick. It helped so much but yet I found it so amusing at times because we were living in each others' countries!! Britain has settled in a very special place in my heart, and I hope Singapore will for you too! :-)

you should suggest getting a larger cage for your office hamster :) that little glass enclosure is crazy small
he also absolutely needs a 21cm wheel & a hideout. i know it's not in your fault since he's a shared workplace pet but please if you could make a suggestion that would be fantastic :)

balls need to be at least 21cm too - just make sure their backs aren't arched :) i hope so too!

My boyfriend has a masters, without working experience, and is trying to find a job in Singapore as an expat, because I'm in Singapore, but it's proving to be a little difficult. Dear Georgia, thank you for your videos. Singapore is my dream country. I have been traveling there several times. I am graduating the university in a year and planning to move to Singapore after. But the most challenging will be to find a job in Sg. I would really appreciate if you could shoot a video with some of your advices on this topic. I will be looking for a job in a marketing field. Currently working as Digital Marketing Specialist. So by the time I graduate, I will have 2 years of experience. Hopefully, it will be enough to get a job in at least entry level. Actually singaporean is not unfriendly and they do sometime feel shy.Once they opened up..you know they are friendly.If you have a chinese friends,u dont easily get invited to their house but if you have a malay/Indian friends,u might get invited during Hari Raya,wedding and gathering.
I may complain about work but thank fuck for a work life balance. I couldn't do those long hours everyday, some countries expect you to work until you drop.
If your tired and can't do videos don't stress your so busy!

I'm an Aussie, from Perth WA. Looking at moving to Singapore, as my GF is a Chinese Sing Chiobu (learned that word in one of your Videos!!!)
Rents scare the crap out of me, as here I have a tiny mortgage.
I can't just move in with her for reasons I can't go into publicly.
Is there any cheaper accommodation than $1900 per month ?
Another question is earning... I can also do Social Media management, IT, Web stuff, but have a history as a Photojournalist and am a level 8 Google local guide. 11 Million views including one with 1,250,000 views I took from a hotel in Katong.
Can you give info on what sort of money an expat could earn in Singapore and if experience is as good as a degree ?
I'd love to find an informal environment and yet I worry as I lack many formal certificates as I taught myself much of what I know.
I realise this is almost an email and me specific, but could I possibly ask you to give any feedback? I'm happy to return the favour and if you and your man ever visit Perth, I'd be happy to take you out and show you two some Aussie hospitality.

I'll finish with a tip. i.e. I'd like to give something back...
Most cameras including phones have AF Lock. Auto Focus Lock.
Try touching the touch screen on the subject and holding it for a second.
It should lock focus, avoiding any out of focus issues.

This might be a dumb question, but do you get weekends off? I heard in many Asian countries they have to work seven days a week. Is Singapore work life similar?
We work 5 days a week. But it also depends what type of job scope you have. The retails work 6days a week with shifts and off days given. Not all Asian countries the same, due to more "modern" startups we get to even work from home several days a week.

..really like your videos, but can you buy a little hut for the Hamster,....he tries to hide from the light.....also would be nice to buy a bigger Terrarium and maybe put both Hamsters together !! Feel really sorry for that creatures....looks like no one has a Heart , if it would be a Dog,....people would react differently , a Hamster is still an animal , it's still a life !

Hello Georgia, do you consider yourself an introvert or and extrovert? Just curious as you seem to get along well with the locals.
100% introvert haha. I take a while to feel fully comfortable around people!
Georgia Caney Some tips please since you are an introvert. I am going to work Japan as an engineer next year. My greatest concern is how I will get along with the locals. I am an introvert and I believe I have social anxiety as well.
Just try your best to put yourself out there! Definitely scary but just try to make conversation as much as possible and ask lots of questions. I think people really appreciate when you show an interest their lives/culture and then you’ll find it’ll be reciprocated!

So cruel keeping a hamster like that. Please please please get everyone in the office to pitch in a buy a tube building for him. He is in the most horrendous conditions for a hamster. Nothing to hide under and nowhere to run. Not even a wheel! Poor angel. Please get him a little house and a wheel if you can’t give him a tube home. They prefer to sleep away from light in a little house with tissues. That’s why both of them go to the corners.
You should get a waaaay bigger cages for your hamsters, and exercise wheels poor little things in there horror cages 😓
