    Nice! I came to this same conclusion to use this same hood with a flip latch respirator, auto shade lens, and headlamp on my own too! I guess great minds think alike! I put a Miller headgear I had in it so it clicks in place at the top, but I can still flick it down with my neck. I had no idea that flicking your neck could be bad so I'll have to try to do that mess.
    I love the idea about cutting the spring though- definitely going to try that right now 😂 Great video!

    Guy I work with came in today with a "Vires" welding mask - real cheapo auto-darkening mask on price. Chucked it at me to try. There may be nicer, better, cheaper masks out there, but I've not seen any. It's also super light. Tomorrow I will go buy one myself - the view out out of it is 300 dollar/quid - but it only costs 60.

    Speaking as an old welder. One downside to a flip helmet is that you have to use another clear lens and each lens adds distortion.

    Do you know where I can find that lid with the fibre metal hard hat gear? I can’t stand my tigerhood but I have to wear it when around hoisting, which is pretty much all the time when piledriving. But I’m trying to move away from auto lenses because my eyes and these helmets solve that when you modify the flip front and can run a fixed shade.

    Question
    I’ve noticed in your videos you have had and or used both fibre metal hard hat adapters the “halo” adapter and the quick connect with your experience which would you recommend also do fibre metal adapters only work on fibre metal hard hats?

    • @JTwelder.
      @JTwelder.  ปีที่แล้ว

      I absolutely hate the fibermetal quick connects! They're a horrible invention because the components wear out quite fast and your shield will start wobbling when you flip it up or down. Also when you have the quick connect cups in your shield there's no way to hang it up which is super annoying because working in the field your always looking for a place to hang your shield. The halo is awesome and I don't think it really works on any other hard hats but I've never tried, I always use it on a fibermetal hardhat.

    Get a low cost, light shield weight shield. Mod it however you see fit for you work environment and job at hand. Wear a balaclava and respirator ... weld on
