    Thank you for showing us the reality of ISR. I've already raised my two children and it wasn't around when they were young. I would've signed them both up ASAP. I think it's really responsible parenting and I can only imagine how difficult it must've been to hold back on the impulse to get him out. I hope I'm blessed with grandbabies and they do ISR. It saves lives.

    I’m so glad you shared this it’s so important for little ones to learn to swim for their own safety! I’m not a mom yet but I was a nanny during my high school years and witnessed these classes it was so hard to watch at first! I think it’s harder on the parents/caregivers then the little babes😂☺️

    I’m so glad I found your video. It made me feel better about how hard it is for me to watch my 13 month-old do ISR. We just started week 3 and I had doubts today about if I was doing the right thing. I finally decided to see if there were any TH-cam videos from other mommies who had been in my boat and there you were! I guess all babies hate it and swallow a little water here and there but it’s way better than them falling in a body of water unattended with no skills.

    No mater how hard it is is. It`s much better than the alternative !! It would be better if you could be his teacher. He is a kicker !

      So true! But I don’t have the credentials to teach him like these instructors do! And sometimes it’s better for kids to learn with someone else because they know they can get away with not doing it if they’re just with mom 😉 it pushes him to do his best!

    As a lifelong lifeguard and swimming teacher American Red Cross trained . While I agree that teaching your child to be water safe and learning how to float on their backs is indeed a lifesaving skill . All kids should always have a life jacket on at all times around water . And any amount of water a small child ingests is never a good thing . Be careful with that technique it could backfire and make him terrified of the water . You might want to put a rash guard shirt on him to help keep him warm . I wish you the best of luck with those classes .

      Thank you and thanks for the input! Just a few things though- it’s an indoor pool so the water is quite warm. Also we can’t always guarantee that a child will be wearing a life jacket if they accidentally fall in the water, that’s why this is so amazing for him to learn to do himself. The instructors know exactly how to work with them on breath control so they are not ingesting an excessive amount. We just went swimming the other day with my family and he still absolutely loves the water ☺️

    I just wish I could hear one story about a baby that accidentally fell in someone’s pool and saved itself and didn’t die because of these classes, honestly I’ve never heard a single story like that and the goal isn’t for a bunch of parents to feel “rewarded” or proud or whatever when their kid finally stops screaming…I’m not a swim instructor but I’m a child psychologist and a trauma specialist and when I see these videos I see small children who are 100% convinced they’re about to die, which is exactly the circumstance that causes PTSD :-/ and when humans are traumatized our memories are literally hijacked and we don’t remember things correctly…so wouldn’t that defeat the whole purpose? Again like I said I would feel so much better if I could just hear one anecdotal story about a baby who was able to actually remember and use these skills to save himself or herself in an actual drowning situation…there must be stories like that, right?

    • @wellsaidgoodheadfred9843
      @wellsaidgoodheadfred9843 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can see you questioning if it would cause trauma, but when you say “baby 100% sure it’s going to die”, I can’t help but wonder if babies have any concept of death, and I would think the baby would recognize the person in the water still adds some level of protection. She did say her child was freaking out the first day though, so I can see some level of concern of trauma as valid. Idk, I think the kid is probably fine with the training or without it. They probably would be fine waiting for later for lessons and just being careful when around water and getting swimming lessons when he’s like 5 or 6. And they’re probably fine and good getting these lessons now when he’s young. Who knows though.

      Isr works Im a first responder and I've unfortunately been to child drownings. The kids who have died did not have any swim training the children who did survived had ISR or another form of swim training. Isr training makes me nervous and I had a hard time teaching my own children but if you have a pool it's a must. Please please I beg of you teach your children to swim young 😢

      Babies dont know the concept of dying, and as far as you saying you haven't heard stories of babies/toddlers almost drowning and saving themselves.. these stories are all over the internet, it just takes a simple search 🤷🏻‍♀️

    All babies that age are terrified to be on their back in the water. That's why you start out when baby is 6 months old.

    The crying isn't normal. They're still crying weeks in. They are traumatised. They swallow so much water and they're drowning. Proper swimming lessons are fun. This looks like torture for the little ones. Some of the ISR instructors I've seen on videos are awful. Get him to proper swimming lessons where you go in with him and have fun together.

    Its not a new concept, they have been tossing babies in the deep end for decades, the general idea being the younger the better as they still retain memories of the womb. But they should have prepared you a little better, shown you some videos of their methods. PS no idea how this came up, I was watching the SHAYTARDS, left the room and this was on when I came back. 😁👍

    Why does he still have a binky if he’s learning to talk? That seems so counterintuitive

  • @ptkr2272
    @ptkr2272 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You may want to take Beckam's binky out whiles he's up and awake as he's learning his vocabulary during this time. I noticed when he was on the couch, you asked him if it was stuck and he said "Yeshhhh".
