    TBH, I'm here for the cast concrete and not the candle-making - but you definitely make the topic fascinating. I thought a candle was just a candle - but there's so much more to know!

      Yes there is a ton that goes into it.

      Thank you!!! Safety is paramount and it amazes me that there are so many who don't know or don't care... Or both!

    BAH!!!! I'm so frustrated with testing! It's gonna kill me. My candle performed perfectly through the four hour tests but power burns were way too hot (like 200 degrees). I have wicked down twice and after 10 hours the jar is above 140. I want to cry. So many different opinions about power burns and their goals but I do NOT want to be responsible for a fire.

    • @upvibecandle
      @upvibecandle  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately most use higher temperatures to justify their jar temperature. Think of your loved ones and how you would feel if they were holding an extremely hot jar. Testing is not for the faint of heart but what a huge accomplishment it is once you get it.

    What is the best type of candle wick to use when making your own candles?

    Thank you for this video. It has been extremely enlightening.
    I do have a question tho.....is your flame never supposed to move, flicker, or dance?? If it does.....is that a fail and if it isn't a fail.....how can they be corrected? Like what does a dancing flame mean?

    • @upvibecandle
      @upvibecandle  ปีที่แล้ว

      In a newly burned candle a flame will flicker because of a draft, the wick is too large or it's not the right wick type. Half way down the jar a flame dances because there is much less air and so that is ok. If it soots then you need to make adjustments. Hope that helps.

      @UP Vibe Candle OMG Thank you so much. I am super brand new to this and I am currently testing. My flame dances once further down the candle and I didn't know why. It didn't do it in the beginning, and there was no draft. I have been so perplexed, but thank you for this video and for being so kind to respond.

    In your opinion, is a little soot around the rim ok after a power burn? Well after the initial 4 hours. And if the candle doesn’t soot during regular 4 hr burns

    • @upvibecandle
      @upvibecandle  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think you have to make an educated decision based off of the reason the soot is happening and how much is happening. All candles will soot if the flame is disturbed. In addition the lower the flame goes down the jar the less oxygen there is... that in turn will create a dancing flame which might soot. You might want to test a few times to see how it reacts and then make a final decision. Again a little soot is normal and should not be a problem.
