Tools are tools, and processes are processes. They are not “cheating”. The art is being conveyed by the decision-making that is captured and re-presented to us through the result. That result, then, being given to us from within you.
Discovered this trick some years ago now, through trial and error. I only have one tv. The one I watch daily is the same as the one I stick painters masking tape and grease proof paper to. Sometimes I have to staple the tape to the paper as it is non stick paper!!! I reverse the image and use charcoal to map out the important features and shapes. I rarely use the technique, but, if I am struggling to get a portrait likeness I will use it. By the time I transfer the image to the canvas, it becomes only a guide, and not a likeness as such. I also used this technique for a series of oil on paper of the historical town I live in. Buildings can be so much more complicated than animals and humans and trees!!! I used to use a projector for theatrical backdrops in the school I worked at. Needs must. However, I draw the line (all puns intended!) at graphs. I take pride in the fact I have spent my whole life freehand drawing, Perhaps because I am both impulsive and lazy, graphs are not for me. I would rather start the work again, or just leave half the rabbit's ears missing from the top of the painting, so to speak!!
I do very often notice eyes out of alignment or perspective problems. The Projection/ Working at an angle flaring is more noticeable if you are looking at the reference as well as the finished piece which is more noticeable with portrait work, although I have seen it pretty bad in beginners more-so. Most of the time it is from people working on larger drawings laying flat on a table while they are sitting. Then, when they see it flat, it has issues.
If u wanna draw more power to you, as a tattoo artist i hate grids and have trouble with larger pieces, because ppl arent flat, the channel would get more views with music (not hip-hop/pop) but wish your channel much love, be yourself.

Really enjoyed reading your comment. Nice addition to the video for people to have even another approach.
I was wondering, when you see other artwork are you able to spot any a minute distortions that you think the artist didn't catch?
