Hey! I am Pierre-Christian Brochet. I am French and for 25 years I have been crossing that huge country called Russia. What thrills me the most is the richness and variety of the cultures which are spread across the territory. That’s what I’m going to tell you about in very short films that portray one of the many faces of Russia’s cultures.
Music and folklore are very rich among the Teleuts who live in the Kemerovo region, in South West Siberia. The Teleuts kept their culture alive and some aspects of the music and folklore of their ancestors.
In the past, Teleut storytellers sang legends about heroes and lyrical epic songs for days and nights. Singing fairytales is a specificity of the Teleleut music.
The most important musical instrument for the Teleuts is the Topshur.
Let’s expect a revival of the traditional Teleut music, as soon as those archives will be studied!
