This method has 2 problems. 1. The straps are creased which leads to cracked paint. 2. The Kesher which bears part of Hashem's name is under the tefillin. Better to place the Kesher on top of the maavarta. It solves both issues.
Thanks for the input! I found later that the ערוך השלחן או"ח כז: ח makes the same suggestion regarding the knot. יישר כחך! Over the several decades I have of wrapping tefillin, I have not had issues with cracking paint because of the way I wrap. Did you mean cracking paint on the straps? If you have a chance, maybe you can upload a short video of your own. I put this up for someone who recently started wearing tefillin and was having trouble with wrapping the Shel Rosh.
@@shelscribe yes I used to check a lot of tefillin and often found that those who wrap using this method often get cracks in the paint due to the strong crease that is formed. Iyh I'll try to make a video.
@@TanachTV - I would look forward to your video. In my decades of checking probably hundreds of pairs of tefillin, I can't say that I have seen the problem with cracking finish on the straps but I understand your position.
