Although i am not Jewish while reading my bible this morning i found in Matthew 23 verse 5 the word phylacteries . It was very interesting and informative to watch your video and see how you use these while saying your morning prayers. Thank you Rabbi Lewin…. the Jewish faith and practices are enlightening shalom
One should not hold the teffilin shel rosh from the straps where the bayit is left hanging freely. Its disrespectful to the tefillin. One should hold the bayit and dalet knot together while putting it on the head
@@RabbiLewin With all due respect, anyone can claim to be an orthodox rabbi these days, especially here on YT.. But as you say you are a rabbi, yet _failed to answer my question_ I have serious doubts that you are.

In this Chabad video and most pictures i see, the tefillin is wrapped *in and under* and *away and over* but it’s the other way around in this video. Is either way correct? th-cam.com/video/iZmPSPGNmik/w-d-xo.htmlsi=XOdO3-CjaBBgwSZc
@@mike92x there are different traditions as to how to wrap the tefillin. Chabad wraps the opposite to Ashkenazi Tradition. So depending where you are from you need to follow your family custom. Hope that clarifies.
There's nothing humiliating about putting on or wearing Teffilen. It is a powerful ritual for Jews. If you're not Jewish, then it's not something that would have any meaning to you.

I’m so grateful there’s been more openness to women and people who aren’t men engaging in this practice.
Women are not commanded to do this, only for men. There is an order that G-d ordained.
I’m not sure who someone who isn’t a woman and isn’t a man would be but the verses very clearly set this commandment aside for men
You are instructing to make the ברכה AFTER tightening. Surely it should be BEFOREHAND- עובר לעשייתו.
You are correct. He tightened it first and then said the blessing.. Also read my comment.
Amazing explanation, very easy to follow. I remember the first time I tried to put on a Teffilin. The results were far from ideal.
Practice makes perfect.
Why did you forgot the most important part while wrapping the tefillin around the finger? Or are you a reform roav?
Did you not watch the video till the end? I clearly show the rings on the finger. For the record I am an orthodox rabbi living in Sydney Australia

It is also prohibited to leave the tefilin hanging, as observed before putting it on the head

It looks to me like the guy lost a bet and has to do something humiliating in public.
Believing in Jesus is the essence of the word "humiliating".

@@konstantin178 That's just my non-Jewish naive take on a Jewish custom. I realize that it is an act of worship for those who embrace it.
