I assume for drying the clay quickly. So that it can subsequently be removed/chiseled away (for a highly polished end result) without first having to wait hours. Or maybe it gets hot enough to even get close to actually firing it, but just the top surface. And then it becomes brittle and chips away from the subsurface easier, when abrased. This is a beautiful and soothing video to watch. This guy is very knowledgeable and the way he shares his story and wisdom is so peaceful and loving. Very Bob Ross like.
@@Seth_Cones True, but with my experience on pottery it all depends on how you prefer to throw. At my apprenticeship, my mentor always finds it funny how much wet clay (slip) I have on my hands when I throw. She throws with her hands mainly wet with just water and would wet town the clay rather than her hands more often. It also depends on what works best for how you throw. I have a bad habit of building up a lot of slip on my hands and letting it dry on the backs of it, which sometimes chips onto the piece I'm working on.

This is so relaxing, i almost fell asleep to it.😌
I would so love to join one of your classes. Sadly I live in Germany and so I won't be able to make it. But this video definitely "fired" my wish to try making pottery :)
I have a friend ho has a german friend, they're planning on both going to america
I'm in Germany right now. Wow. It's a nice country!
tiny pebble person ja, ich bin ein Deutsch 🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪
This is a beautiful and soothing video to watch. This guy is very knowledgeable and the way he shares his story and wisdom is so peaceful and loving. Very Bob Ross like.
Of course you're an artist. This is amazing and really nice to watch!
Who else want here to take of the excess clay on his hands
SERIOUS GUILE bad idea. It adds a lot of lubrications to the clay and allows it to dry more easily later on
@@Seth_Cones True, but with my experience on pottery it all depends on how you prefer to throw.
Guile Arvee Castro I don’t think they understand.
@@Khangel yeah thats like half a year ago
this was a year ago jeez
I don’t know what’s more satisfying. The making of the teapot, or the fact that this video is exactly 30 minutes.
Stereo your video just made my day thank you so much you are the best potter I know, I tried pottery my self but I failed.
who else is getting asmr from this
Imagine how much better the audio quality is in real life! Follow your passions, your body is telling you something. There are not enough crafts people in the world.
Please don't bring millennial crap to this wonderful video.
It's like talking about Trump on a Bob Ross paint video, it ruins the calm and simplicity.
@@saraburt5215 no, I beg to disagree... it's your "crap" remark that's ruining the sweet tranquility, here.
I am in absolute awe of your skill and patience.
This was oddly satisfying wish I could see this guy make pottery in real life thanks for this channel almost everything here is satisfying
+Gaming Cupcake Thanks :)
