- The Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 is the fourth model on the 650 twin platform, and as we see it, it is the bobber version of the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650. The Shotgun 650 sits under the Super Meteor 650 in terms of price and positioning, but will be priced more than the Continental GT 650. But, how similar or different is the Shotgun 650 from the Super Meteor 650? And crucially, is it more comfortable than the cruiser? And should you consider buying one? I love how laid back and detailed the review is, feels like I'm listening to somehow who actually knows and cares about the bike, in contrast to so many others that I've watched that have been all show and no real substance.

Nicely detailed yet concise review. The information on the behaviour of the front end is especially interesting. I wonder if the suspension on this bike could be better tuned within the bounds of its chassis' abilities while retaining its positive characteristics.

The biggest plus for me with this new 650 is the seating position. It is near perfect.
For an older rider like me, the Interceptor and Continental GT felt a little tight in the thighs, and the feet forward position of the Super Meteor was just a little unfamiliar for me, although I do think it is the best looking 650 RE have made thus far. I look forward to seeing one in the flesh. Preferably with a subtle colour scheme, and cloth saddlebags. 🤩

Looks nice. It appears the exhaust is different from the Super Meteor and I'm wondering if the last short pipe extension us removable?
I’m still torn between the SM 650 and the SG 650. The SM is winning 70 to 30 because I’m in love with cruiser style motorcycles. But I learned riding on an endield bullet 500 in the Pindh. So this is closer to that bike, I’m not sure. I’m probably gonna end up with the SM650 but this is the best and most concise non biased review I’ve seen. In my honest opinion.

Slow riding dynamics are important in india rather than USA.better buy interceptor base model and with the money saved one can tube or modify the bije according to one's need as done by vikrant sir( host ) to his Deadpool ( interceptor 650).

I think the Classic 650 might be the most comfortable (in terms of ergos) and practical option for the Indian roads. I hope RE does a better job in terms of rear suspension on the Classic 650.
We'll find it out when it is launched towards the end of 2024.
I would love to have the new tft instrumentation of the Himalayan on the 650s.

My only disagreement: the footpegs are not forward positioned at all. You can clearly see in this video, that the rider's knees are further forward positioned thank his ankles are.
We have said that the footpegs are centre-set, and not forward-set like the Super Meteor 650.
When you sat on the motorcycle, the rear shock absorber is almost at the end, there is not much reserve for the suspension...
just needs a bigger handlebar and aftermarket rear suspension...and it is sorted...

I wanted to buy the Super Meteor next spring, but I think the Shotgun is hot too.

Will there be accessories for forward controls?
In principle, I would like to install the footrests and handlebars from the Super Meteor and then have a clever solution for luggage. Then it would be the Shotgun.
Then you should buy the Super Meteor 650 instead.

The downer to this over the super meteor is that it is not very adaptable to pannier racks. The super meteor seems to have fewer problems than the other two Royal Enfield 650's so this should also be a wonderful bike as long as you don't want to go on long overnight rides. I am a little biased because I am a super meteor owner. I did do lots of homework and verified that there are in fact super meteors out there without major problems at the 50,000 kilometers range. The shot gun dose come in better shade of green than the super meteor.

Watching the video the SG appears to have pillion footrests but only a solo seat. Given the SM & SG frame are the same is there a bolt on rear subframe which could be used for panniers? The small tank is the only downside from my perspective, I would have preferred a bit more fuel capacity.
@@ReverseWingover MCN say (in the UK at least) the subframe and pillion seat are supplied with the bike, and you have to take them off to make it single seat.

It can be fitted. Check with RE's service centre to know if it affects the ground clearance.
Yes, You can Buy a a yss 340mm suspensión and get rid of the horrible súper/Shotgun suspension
