  • Hello, Welcome to Something of Everything. In this video you will learn about seismic parameter definition and seismic load application methods.
There are 3 different method by which you can provide seismic weight
    1. Member weight method
    2. Joint weight method
    3. Reference load method
If want to buy joint weight extraction add in, mail us at tinytopic@gmail.com

Everything is clear except two. a) Why you using perform analysis and change command after seismic loads(in x & z direction) ?
    b) why you using live load 25% & live load 50% in a same time?
Anyway this video is very good to learn application of seismic load.

a - it is used to calculate seismic weight and apply the same as joint loads.
b - as per IS code, upto 3 kN/m2, seismic load to be taken as 25% and above it 50% to be take in seismic weight.
Hope this will clarify the doubts.

I have a small doubt. You are applying the same members with the same sizes and same loading conditions in all methods ( joint weight method, member weight method and reference load method). But why there is a deviation in seismic loads after Analyzing? Whatever the method we use it should be same in all method, right?

It is because of application points. In joint weight method it is applied at column junction only, hence differ from other two.

Very Informative.... But how to define and assign the plate load or pressure (in DL & LL) under seismic definition?? Thank you....

If you are providing seismic weight by reference load it will take automatically. if you are providing member weight, you shall have to provide plate weight. In joint weight method also it will take it automatically by reaction.

why should we remove the negative sign for the weight?

      To convert reation to action.
