  • We spent 22 hours flying (6 hours domestically and 16 abroad), and in this video, we share our insider tips and tricks for surviving ultra-long flights. From avoiding jet lag to staying hydrated, we'll show you how to do it all in economy class.
Our adventure starts with a six-hour flight from Orlando to San Francisco, followed by a 16-hour flight to a mysterious destination that we'll reveal later. And the best part? We did it all on a budget, paying less than $20 each using airmiles.
Throughout the journey, we'll take you along as we share our experiences and demonstrate how to make the most out of long-haul flights. You'll learn a few things you need to pack, what to wear, and what to do to keep yourself comfortable and your body healthy and relaxed.
So, join us as we embark on this exciting adventure in a new country, and learn how to survive and thrive during long-haul flights.

    ► WHO AM I?
I am a Brazilian-American journalist living in Florida. After traveling the world working with sports, news, and events for over 15 years, I realized that what I really love is the travel part of it all. So I exchanged life in the newsrooms and stadiums for the daily challenge of being an independent content producer. I created this channel to share the beauties of the world... stuff that, for so long, I only kept to myself. Also to help people planning similar trips and to inspire more people to venture out and enjoy life!
P.S.: The funny guy who appears in the vlogs is my husband, Gordon. He is Canadian-American, and he's actually camera-shy. That's why he's behind the camera most of the time 😉

Excellent tips Renata! I wore compression socks on my flight to Singapore, and also made sure to get up and walk and stretch at the back of the cabin every so often. You should encourage Gordon to get out of his seat more often 😄
One of my uncles developed DVT on a flight to Hawaii, so it's something I'm very mindful about.
The tip about keeping a positive attitude is great also. You have to roll with the punches when travelling and chalk everything up to experience. Be courteous and helpful to your fellow travellers.

We did the New York to Singapore flight last year at almost 19 hours and it seemed like 29 hours. It was like never ending. How was your jet lag after your flight? It took us about three days to feel like normal time again. Keep up the good videos.

    • @RenataPereiraTV
      @RenataPereiraTV  ปีที่แล้ว +3

I will get the courage to take that flight one day! Jet lag hits Gordon more than I....we get right into filming so I think we skip by virtue of being busy...It hits us after a film trip though..takes us a few days of being stationary to feel normal again.

Having flown to MEL, I glad you pointed out SkyBus (free wifi!) & love how the hotel had a mini-fridge. Your economy seat to have a decent amount of legroom (I am lucky enough to fly main cabin extra this July LAX-SYD on American .. those six extra inches of legroom are great). Loved the international part of your video and enjoy visiting each of those lovely Australian cities.

David Cole - totally agree with your idea to break the journey. Last year I travelled Sydney to San Francisco (12.3 hours) then spent a day & overnight in mid priced hotel before flying on to London (10 hours). I would rather pay for hotel ($150?) & enjoy a hot shower & comfortable night's sleep in a proper bed than spend sometimes twice economy seat price on premium economy.

I live in the states, and fly to London every year. Not bad, EXCEPT.....in February we had engine trouble over the Atlantic and had to return to Atlanta. Swapped plane and crew. They actually had emergency vehicles with lights flashing lined up on the tarmac. That was a long night. Delta handled it really well I must say. Feared would be in the airport all night, but only a six hour delay. I love Delta AND Comfort Plus!

I am visually impaired, and before the pandemic, I traveled quite a lot because I lived in Vietnam. I think the longest flight I have ever taken was from Incheon to Atlanta, I believe it was about 16 1/2 hours, no Wi-Fi, not as many TV shows as I had expected from Korean era, the food was good though. The plane was absolutely packed, but thankfully I was sitting next to someone who had A son with autism, and who could really understand the challenges I was having and who was also willing to help. I am very independent, and mostly I’m fine while traveling, but that was a tough trip. If anyone is reading this who wants to travel when you have a disability, prepare, prepare, prepare and the spring things on the flight that will help you get through it, if that’s sensory items, OK, if that’s snacks that you enjoy, OK. I also occasionally pack a change of clothes, because you never know when somebody in front of you will put the chair back unexpectedly and your coffee goes flying…

I've learnt the hard way about communicating dietary requirements in advance as even restaurants need advance notice of no added salt or items made with raw egg like mayo and some other sauces. Could be impossible with some airlines where meals are made months in advance, frozen, delivered to the aircraft as required and just reheated in the galley.

I flew New York to Sydney via San Francisco in economy with a stop in Honolulu. But it was with Qantas in 1986 and it was great. I actually slept. Same for the return flight from Melbourne via Los Angeles.
I feel sorry for you flying United. It sucks. So does American. Lately their mileage requirements to Europe for an Award ticket has doubled to 75,000 miles one way so you got a great deal. .
LOL they got rid of the nice ice cream and replaced it with cookies!! The breakfast looks nice though.
You aint getting much on the flight. You also need to pay for Extra Legroom seats on United otherwise it's torture.
