I'm 54 and my wife and I are VERY worried about our future, gas and food prices rising daily. We have had our savings dwindle with the cost of living into the stratosphere, and we are finding it impossible to replace them. We can get by, but can't seem to get ahead. My condolences to anyone retiring in this crisis, 30 years nonstop just for a crooked system to take all you worked for.

I feel your pain mate, as a fellow retiree, I’d suggest you look into passive index fund investing and learn some more. For me, I had my share of ups and downs when I first started looking for a consistent passive income so I hired an expert advisor for aid, and following her advice, I poured $30k in value stocks and digital assets, Up to 200k so far and pretty sure I'm ready for whatever comes.

Nashville only represents itself & close proximity neighborhoods. The majority of Tennessee is great; especially in comparison w/other states. I saw a comment that said Nashville was rude. Austin has become the red-headed step-child of Texas because it doesn't even feel like Texas anymore and it's filled with asshole Californians and Midwesterners now. A lot of us locals have been pushed out of the city due to the skyrocketing cost of living and the overall influx of shitty people. I miss the old Austin big time.

Don't move to Nashville if you think you're going to increase your salary - wages DO NOT match the cost of living. Nashville is VERY expensive. I would suggest before moving to Nashville and you want to purchase your "to impress" home - think about who is going to be able to buy it in 5 years (or less) when you want to go back to your previous state of residence. We are suffering from the Big Fish - Little Pond syndrome and until people are forced to move back for work its going to be unkind to local Tennesseans.

I live waaaaaay outside of Nashville. There are "newcomers" here now. Many don't stay. Out here in the rural areas we don't have trash removal, no de-icer on the roads in the winter, heck some of our roads are chirt! They wash out a bit after storms. Also cell phone signals a spotty. People learn that they need wired internet.....again.
The moisture, you can add annual pressure washing to the home maintenance schedule. The mold even grows in the window crevices of your car😂. Even if you wash it weekly! This lady is correct, everyone of us is allergic to mold. You need climate control on all storage areas. That was the first lesson I learned moving to Tennessee! ❤ it's high humidity all year round.

Outside of perhaps Charleston SC, no Southern City/Metro is more expensive than Nashville (South FL isn't the South). If you're coming from CA, NY, NJ, or DC Metro it's still reasonable but far from "inexpensive". Those days have been in the rearview mirror for over 10 years. Nashville city is building a massive amount of high-density housing, and the suburbs keep growing. I still love it here but it's growing too much - too fast.

It's interesting to note that Austin and Travis County, which has been one of the hottest cities/metro areas of the past 20 years in terms of population growth is actually losing population. Not a huge drop, but when affordability and livability no longer comport people will leave. I don't put Nashville in that category, but it's something to think about moving forward.

    6. The city council has approved a property tax increase of $45.78 per $1000.00 property assess value.
    7. An entertainment, lodging tax increase has been approved to pay for a indoor football stadium.
    8. Ungaraged vehicles will be vandalized.
    9. Tennessee Department of Transportation TDOT and Nashvliie Department of Transportation NDOT will not pay for your damaged vehicles if damaged on Nashville streets without evidence and they can dictate (pencil whip) how minimal or severe the roads are.

Do yourself a favor and don't move to Nashville. Crime stats compared to the reality due to soft on crime liberal govt aren't the same. Nowhere is safe here, high end robberies from foreign gangs just like other major cities to common robberies, carjackings, hit and runs, I'd advise look at a local news several weeks. Wkrn. In 5 years my household has had a car stole while at work, a motorcycle stole while we slept, and a car hit and run but we saw it was a friend of our neighbors and they refused to give up a name. It isn't the friendly town it once was, north and west coast and foreigners have drastically changed it. There are graffiti areas with ms13, doughnuts in the middle of major intersections, and a shortage of around 150 officers. There is one animal shelter in a city now over 2 million and homeless of all nationalities even in the well off areas, Hillsboro Green Hills areas. 130+ languages in the school system so if you have children, the classes may be oversized or slowed for others. My tiny experience living here 30+ years, I could share more.

If you like real food and also crave intellectual stimulation, don’t move to Nashville. Even with expecting to drive, the infrastructure is so out of date. Our northern “suburbs” have exploded with construction over the last 10 years as. Population has doubled if not more. But we’re driving on the same two lane highways that were built who know when. From the interstate at Ky state line going south for 30 miles just up to the city limits, it’s a two lane highway, dominated by trucks driving in the left lane. For our location 30 miles north of Nashville, it’s an hour commute during rush hour. Even more if you work in the Brentwood area. And not really friendly, I’d say more cordial. You won’t get real conversation with locals. Good luck on that. I’m a traveller, so I talk to people everywhere I go. Many other places are much friendlier than here-even California! Food and utilities are very expensive. Real estate is still fairly reasonable in some outlying rural or commercial areas. But lots of still wide open land. And very pretty landscapes.
