I find that I'm very under stimulated in most of my senses except hearing. Most of the toys that make a sound make me uncomfortable 😅 I do love a good tangle, tho. And this pencil case I got a while back that's coated in this really hard and spiky glitter because it's super nice and scratchy. I tend to scratch myself for comfort so that's just great. Only problem with that is some of the glitter tends to let go when I use it
im playing with my rubber tangle right now & i love it!! i take it everywhere with me & it helps me so much. im obsessed with tangles they’re my obsession right now 😂☺️
i use to take my first teddy, he was my favorite teddy, to school all the way up to high school and when i got my own apartment when i was 22 i still had him with me. until my rescue pup needed him more than me...she tore him apart...i was devastated but i loved her a lot...didnt spiral too much
ps.. I am making spaghetti at 11 at night and had a meltdown spilling all my pasta in the dirty sink. and all these fidgets that make the sounds I love helped me calm down. thank you so much.
I just got my first fidget toys. One is a satin hair scrunchy. I use it in meetings and at lunch when too many people are talking. It's soft and I can play with it in my lap. I also got a glazed clay cardinal that fits exactly in my palm. He (his name is Newman) helps me with rude drivers on the way home by "chirping" at them to drive better. I feel I can say these things here because I just found people like me. Finally!
I only printed a "Cubic Silent Fidget Toy" with my 3D printer last week. Although I still have one with buttons etc to click, but when I'm on the road, it's too loud for me. What I also love, my therapy clay in different strengths. This helps me really well when I have to listen or let something out. Thank you very much for the video, I really didn't know how some of them were needed.
Your video was really helpful, but in a different way. I learned that I can't handle anything that makes a sound, and I don't like touching textures that aren't soft (fairly bad anxiety 😬). I have a couple of cute small beanies that I like to hold, and I've been wanting to get the little Hand2mind changing seasons trees (kind of like a snow globe). Watching water moving, leaves swaying, etc...those types of things feel good to me.
i fidget with the speks like tiny magnets. they kinda act like kinetic sand or slime but a little less messy. The downside is if you play with it for awhile your hands will get all black from i guess iron oxide/ferrite or something. Plus if you drop one its kinda hard to find. They sound very satisfying though.
It is absolutely wild that so many of these toys are the things I loved as a kid over 30 years ago- a lot of the visual toys, the glitter wand, the foldy cube (mine folded a bit differently). I was quite happy to play with prisms and stare into a kaleidoscope full of beads for a long time.
As someone in their early thirties, who has ADHD (and maybe some type of autism, but undiagnosed) I really love that you talk about this subject so openly! My personal favorite of fidget toys is the Nice Cube 😎
Does anyone else struggle with the damage done by chronic, compulsive cuticle picking? I've been picking at my fingers and especially thumbs for 40+ years. They are constantly raw and I hate it. I've just ordered a tangle in the hopes that I can use it as a substitute but I have my doubts. I've never been able to replace the picking with anything else that will actually stop me from doing it. So frustrating.
So glad you decided to post this one even while on break, I've literally scrolled through your account to check if it was up several times since you hinted at this topic in another video on autism. Thanks! And I hope you're well!
I tried some of my wife's fidget toys and honestly, it takes to much mental bandwidth for me to play with them. However there are a few things laying around that i like to fidget with. Mechanical keyboard switches, pods from a magnolia tree, etc. Honestly I mostly fignet with things i have on me like my phone, ring and clicky pens.
I recently started stimming with thinking putty. My favorite kinds of putty are ones with Chunks in them - large sequins, clay charms, beads, or a lot of medium-large glitter that makes the putty feel "sandy." Its funny because a lot of people dont like the abrasive sharpness the large pieces of glitter/sequins create but I really like that feedback. That kind of putty is also very easy to get to make crackling and popping sounds which is my favorite thing to do with my putty. I'm not as much of a visual stim person but there are a few outties i have that do more for me visually than tactically and auditorally. I also have two tangles and really want some textured ones. I like to stim with my two tangles by making them into a bunch of linked 4-piece circles and shaking/brushing/clacking them around/against eachother and/or my hands. I started using putty and tangles and work and it has actually made me so much more patient and less anxious overall (i work with kids so there is usually a lot of noise and just generally frustrating moments - i also bring my loops to work but worry that i will miss a safety issue using them so i rarely do).
Some of my favorite fidgets include the sensory therapy brushes. I have the surgical brushes, and some silacone sensory brushes. Koosh balls, my squeaky ball, some of my favorite stones, anemone mittens from a website called Fun And Function. And even musical instruments. Mainly because I LOVE MUSIC. And I find music helps me to calm down. I also like the brushes with the soft bristles like the makeup brushes. I like the brushes and the koosh balls because I rub them on my skin when I’m sensory seeking or upset. When I’m upset, I have a tendency to be mean to myself. And when I rub the brushes or the koosh ball on my skin, it almost feels like I’m being told, nice gentle hands feel like this. Cry, and be nice to yourself when you’re crying.
For me, olfactory stimming had proven to be the most satisfying. I carry around different "flavors" of chapstick and like methol/eucalyptus inhaler sticks. The strong scents are so soothing and I just get lost in them 😂
My wife just got me a stainless steel, full size ONO roller. It rolls very smoothly in the hand and is completely silent. Very pleasant to fidget with and satisfyingly weighty. I'm looking forward to trying the Scroller and Slider as well.
My new favorite fidget toy is a SugarWax Stressball. It’s easy to make and customize. Here’s the recipe: Ingredients: - Sugar - Citric concentrate - Water - Balloons Instructions: Measure out one glass of sugar, 1/8 glass of water, and a generous splash of citric concentrate. Combine all the ingredients in a pot. Heat the mixture slowly, stirring until everything is dissolved. Cook the mixture on low heat for a few minutes. To test if it’s ready, take a small amount and drop it into a bowl of cold water. Try to pick it up; if you can, it’s ready. Remove the mixture from the stove and let it cool slightly. Once slightly cooled, pour the mixture into a balloon. The SugarWax Stressball has a great texture and warmth to it. It becomes relatively hard when it cools, but kneading it brings it back to a nice, high-density, creamy texture. I greatly enjoy it!
Oh holy cow my figet toys are alot older bcuz im older! The Slinky! I took Slinky everywhere. I was annoying to adults with it. Marbles. Yo yos. Clackers. This thing with hanging silver balls where you set the end balls to hit the stationary balls and the opposite end balls swung out in response sorry i dont know the name of the toy. Finger drumming ooops thats a stim. I had no idea i could use ear plugs or headphones to cancel out or muffle out noise! I never learned to say no to things until i was 40! Im sorry you cried. I think at my age i got all cried out in my 50s.
Whenever you say “Happy Swimming!” now I think you’re saying “Happy Stimming!” 😂 Maybe that can be your new sign off, “Happy Swimming, Happy Stimming!” 😊
My fave right now is glow-in-the-dark putty that comes in the plastic eggs at hardware, grocery, and drug stores. Pull, twist, twirl around your finger, fold layer over layer to pop the air bubbles, and the GITD adds visual stimulation when I'm laying in bed at night or hiding away in a closet.
I had to look up the tractor because it seems to have a loud, firm poppy sound, lol I don't know how else to say that, but I like how it sounds. Anyway they are called Simpl Dimpl.
idk about you... but over time I find these sort of things just end up sitting around collecting dust while I "chair dance" and occupy my mind with more interesting things... or just go sit in the washroom with the shower running... that's super chill for me.
That walmart card thing is my auditory stim with tactile components and I love those scratchysounds it makes when your fingernail goes across the ridges. The snowy noises balls can be made with air balloons and corn starch. What I also love a stim toy iy my "home depot plant wire covered in a rubber tube" (bendy, good resistance, bend it into a handle, and wind away) My sis loves her sluggy friend, sound and tactile, I like the tactile but can not tolerate the sound it makes. Magnetic twitter stones are another favourite of mine when I am alone, but it gets the ones around me badly, so I cant use them while not being alone. My hand sewn marble mazes out of comfy sweat and t shirt fabric are a quiet stim for use, while people are around.
saw this video, got a tangle a couple weeks later, I haven't put it down since it arrived in the mail yesterday lol like I literally took a nap with it in my hand because I didn't wanna let it go
I love my fidget jewelry. It's easy to wear, and I've got a ring with a spinning rose on it and the triple ring with three small bands interlinked. Both of those are pretty inexpensive. I dont use the traditional spinner ring as frequently. I also like the little food grade silicone pendants for chewing on. Those come in lots of styles including actual teething beads you can make your own jewelry with.
I'd always fidget and I didn't even know it... keyboards and computer mice are excellent devices. I'd also press a lot of buttons, even when I was in the military on a warfare device, I'd press most the buttons. I'd have to stay away from the launch button. I'd always want to push buttons. I didn't know I was autistic or that I was fidgeting. Makes sense now.
So wonderful to get another autism related video from you!! i really enjoyed this! I hope everything is ok and look forward to when you're back from your break.
I am very glad you made this video. Not only did I end up expanding my collection of fidgets (I didn't even know about the slider fidgets and I love them - got a donut and 2 cookies) but I also ended up getting a new tangle. I had a really cheap one I got online and it wasn't doing anything for me but, when you were playing around with yours, I noticed it moved differently, fluidly; mine is plasticky and very stiff, it won't move unless I manually force it to. It's not stimmy, it's just frustrating. But, since you so adamantly vouched for the tangles, I decided to give it another try and get an official one and OMD the difference is night and day. This one really is satisfying to hold and play around with. This tangle is definitely on my top 5 favorite fidgets now! ❤
One of my favorite fidgets is 3 keychain rings looped into each other. I also have one that's 2 pair looped into each other. Super cheap, super covert, texture is great; I love it! The finger trap marble is also amazing to carry around. I keep a tangle right at my desk!
This was filmed before deciding to take a break. You can check out more Austim-related content by me: th-cam.com/play/PLd96m53oYQcBQl3x_6goyvIrK1u7wChL-.html
Hiya, hope your doing alright, have a long well deserved break:] I did want to ask if you do come back from your break if you could review the mermaid tail brand fololeo, Ive seen a few of their tails but i cant tell if its worth it or not, or if its safe or if the designs are stolen, i found them on amazon, for about 169ish dollars, and it says it comes with monofin and support plate, but idk, if anyone else knows about the brand i would love to see if their part of the mass production of unsafe mermaid tails or an actual business making safe mermaid tails for people.
ooooooh, I loved that one. I use fidgeting during anxiety periods and this is a really good selection. Thanks for sharing. I also like the magnetic neo cube, if you know that one. I could just masage it in my hand or concentrate on building something which brings me down as well. :)
lovely video! Hanafuda (Japanese flower playing cards) are great. besides some good games, they are back with thick plastic and make a satisfying clacking sound when you place them down
My winter coat and back pack zippers have very nice, sturdy zipper pulls that feel good to rub between my fingers while on a long car ride or concentrating on a conversation. I don't zip or unzip the zippers; I just quietly, subtly fidget with the hardware. I also like turning a quarter or other small object around and around in the palm of my hand. I don't do tricks or roll it across the top of my fingers. Again, very subtle. Shuffling a deck of playing cards is very satisfying - especially if I bridge them at the end of each shuffle. It's one of the few fidgets I like that makes noticeable noise.
I like the 6 roller chain rings. Put it on a finger and twist twist twist. I also like the magnetic rings. I have 2 backs of the same ones in different colors and I like the click they make when you stack them
You rock Courtney my favorite fidget toy is the fidget spinner and don't let the haters interagate you on your disability trust me you are not alone I have a nephew who has austim and I'm also disabled myself I'm diagnosis with a learning disability and I have a new disability and it's hemicrania continua its having headaches every day and night it would get so bad it makes me dizzy and nauseated I'm still trying to process it. besides you are my favorite and I so love your tails and I so love mermaids and I enjoy your podcast you are just so funny. I'm so sorry for your loss of your family and your husband family and your adorable dog. Take care and stay strong and just keep swimming aka just keep going
…that Walmart card is to 🤩🤩🤩 for. I find I like the nice cube if I’m more stressed & either squeeze it hard then to release the stress, but a softer, gradual melting is goood. I love my jelly one. The mini cats are my 💕💕💕 I’m hunting out the snowball now. Also, do any of you hate cords? The tangle gives me anxiety lol
I love slugs/snails! I hold them by the head and wip em around like a helicopter lol! Its loud so i usually only use them at home but theyre my favorite. I like popits, but im too agressive with them and tear them apart so i dont usually buy them :/
My fav fidget toys Baseball Cards and those M. U. S. L. E creatures in the 80s and 90s. Games Workshop modelling. Now it's holding pencils and pens. (Very recently a Harmonica) ❤
I'm not even finished but I have been looking EVERYWHERE for that stress ball filled with the squishy beads in it...... would you mind telling me where to find it so I can buy at least 10 of them???? Oh I also use G2 ink pens as a fidget! I LOVE clicking them.
My most reliable fidget toys are soft-spiky bracelets (called Monkey Rings on Amazon), Pop-It octagons, ONO roller Jrs (with soft plastic), and my infinity cube. I also appreciate Crazy Aaron's Thinking Putty for something to mold; 2 marbles together to click; and lemongrass and peppermint essential oils to sniff. Thanks for making this video! My first tangle accidentally went through the washing machine, but it made it quieter and now its my favorite of the 3 I have. You've inspired me to look up more of them! The Monkey Rings are a must-have for all social situations; I keep one in my purse all the time. Thinking Putty is great for zoom meetings; ONO rollers are discreet (and very popular with the rest of my family)! If they make glow-in-the-dark glitter tubes, I feel like those would be great for helping me wind down to sleep.
You’ve given me some great ideas for new fidgets. My most often used one is to rock and clench my teeth and my dentist doesn’t like that! I need some less destructive (to me) fidgets and maybe gum. 😊
I have an idea for you. Your reaction to those facial emotion videos. My husband is Adhd and I have watched these videos of people making these faces and we don't get them and trying to guess what the expressions are is fun. I've watched other autistic youtubes doing it, it's so funny. I've recently bumped into products on amazon to show kids either how to make these expressions or whatever. It just makes me laugh cause if this is allistic peoples way to fix NDs, I highly doubt they would work, they just scare me. haha
If you have a Rennaissance(sp?)/ Medieval fair near you, I saw a fidget ball made of metal rings (they called it a medieval fidget spinner) I don't know if you would find it interesting, but it might be something to look into....
I have created a new channel where I will be posting my Autism-related content moving forward: www.youtube.com/@courtneyliterally
I. Loved. This. Thankyou❤
18:37 I open it fully the twirl it over my head it makes a nice!!!! Sound💜💜💜
I love the fidget cubes! I tried tangles in my counselor's room and she's lucky i didn't steal it xD BUT SHE DID GIMME A NEE-DOH
Only problem with that is some of the glitter tends to let go when I use it
im playing with my rubber tangle right now & i love it!! i take it everywhere with me & it helps me so much. im obsessed with tangles they’re my obsession right now 😂☺️
the chunky one is EVERYTHING🥰🥰
I LOVE this video! Thank you so much! Next stop: Amazon. 💜
11:30 Not fidgeting is part of my mask." Yes! Same! 😭😭😭💜♾️
I love the fidget cube
I love the slugs sooo much
i use to take my first teddy, he was my favorite teddy, to school all the way up to high school and when i got my own apartment when i was 22 i still had him with me. until my rescue pup needed him more than me...she tore him apart...i was devastated but i loved her a lot...didnt spiral too much
I love this video!
I'm so glad you posted this even though you are taking a break. Your videos really helped inspire me to go get my diagnosis, so thank you for that.
i fidget with the speks like tiny magnets. they kinda act like kinetic sand or slime but a little less messy.
Sending my favorites fishy/human great vibes
So glad you decided to post this one even while on break, I've literally scrolled through your account to check if it was up several times since you hinted at this topic in another video on autism. Thanks! And I hope you're well!
I just discovered the nee doh cube and I’m obsessed.
Oh this perfect! I felt like I was the only one who wished for instructions on how to “play” lol!
Nope definitely not alone !! My sister sent this to me 🤗
I really appreciate this! It hadn’t occurred to me that you might use different fidgets for different results/moods.

I have a ton of fidgets I want to try and it's so hard not to spend irresponsibly large sums of money
Some of my favorite fidgets include the sensory therapy brushes. I have the surgical brushes, and some silacone sensory brushes. My favorite fidgets are the ordinary objects i turn into fidgets. 😂
I have a few of those too! 💖
My wife just got me a stainless steel, full size ONO roller. It rolls very smoothly in the hand and is completely silent. Very pleasant to fidget with and satisfyingly weighty. I'm looking forward to trying the Scroller and Slider as well.
I just bought a bunch of these and am so excited to try them! Also I love your space decor!
I like the malisa and dug maracas. I like something with some weight and that I can shake.
this video made me use my fidgets and stim toys too
My new favorite fidget toy is a SugarWax Stressball. It’s easy to make and customize. Here’s the recipe:
Ingredients:
- Sugar
- Citric concentrate
- Water
- Balloons
Instructions:
Measure out one glass of sugar, 1/8 glass of water, and a generous splash of citric concentrate.

I'm playing with it reading this comment!
I like just a regular bath scrunchie. good look, good smell, good feel.
I had to look up the tractor because it seems to have a loud, firm poppy sound, lol I don't know how else to say that, but I like how it sounds. Anyway they are called Simpl Dimpl.
Yk a body doubling stream would be a great idea
I like your spectrum wave.

OMG it's every toy that my son and I obsess over! (He's diagnosed, I'm not.)
I love my fidget jewelry. It's easy to wear, and I've got a ring with a spinning rose on it and the triple ring with three small bands interlinked. Both of those are pretty inexpensive. i have so many fidgets like the infinity cube is so good and some sensory and magnetic ones
One of my favorite things is doing color by number apps on my IPad
So wonderful to get another autism related video from you!! i really enjoyed this! I hope everything is ok and look forward to when you're back from your break.

Great video. Great selection. Watching in 🇬🇧👍
I hope you're ok! I am so excited about getting a video during your break. Thank you.
God really loves me. I found your channel 💎🙏🏼
The tractor um those they and similar are called simple dimple
I saw the title and basically jumped out of my seat like “YES YES YES YESSSSS” 😅 thank you ❤️
Thank you Courtney. I only have one but like the tangles.
ooooooh, I loved that one. I use fidgeting during anxiety periods and this is a really good selection. Thanks for sharing. I also like the magnetic neo cube, if you know that one. I could just masage it in my hand or concentrate on building something which brings me down as well. :)
lovely video! Hanafuda (Japanese flower playing cards) are great. besides some good games, they are back with thick plastic and make a satisfying clacking sound when you place them down
LOVE my tangle - and hedgehog rings, I like things which are solid and rounded-spiky against my hands...
Have you ever tried the fidget cube? It's one of my favorites.
Weird TH-cam didn't tell me you uploaded this. It's great ! And hopefully, your break is healing you in the ways you need 💙
Love your videos ❤
I have a fidget spinner;pop it's snd a squishy ball
Fun video!! Definitely going to get a new fidget! 🎉
I love slugs/snails! I hold them by the head and wip em around like a helicopter lol! Its loud so i usually only use them at home but theyre my favorite.
I like popits, but im too agressive with them and tear them apart so i dont usually buy them :/
Poor slugs and snails (joking)
My favorite fidgets are the srechy pully ones. And I hate when a fidget toy has a sound…drives me crazy. I can only use quiet ones
The octopus toy where did you get it?
Glad to see you again! Very interesting video! :)
you may want to check out sequin slap braclet I like to hold it in my hand and flip the sequins back and fourth
The fuzzy tangle is my favorite one, it's like having a calico critter noodle. :p
It just makes me laugh cause if this is allistic peoples way to fix NDs, I highly doubt they would work, they just scare me. haha
I found a Tangle at home but it makes a plastic crinkly noise, is there a way to lube it out something to make it quieter and smoother?
my fav fidget is a rock I found at a beach.
In another video, you had a body brush. What do you do with that?
If you have a Rennaissance(sp?)/ Medieval fair near you, I saw a fidget ball made of metal rings (they called it a medieval fidget spinner) I don't know if you would find it interesting, but it might be something to look into....
for a very brief moment I read your shirt as ‘autistic explorer’. huh
I do not like the water filled squish balls even though I should in theory like the little bits inside 🤢😵💫
