It Is Well With My Soul - Violin Solo

- This beloved hymn has been a consolation for many heavy hearts. The story behind it is powerful, as Horatio Spafford penned the lyrics at a time of great tragedy in his life. After losing much of his business in the Chicago fires, he sent his wife and 4 daughters across the Atlantic ahead of him. On the voyage, their ship, the Ville du Havre, collided with another ship and sank in 12 minutes. Mrs. Spafford survived, though their four daughters drowned at sea. After receiving a telegram from his wife with the words "Saved alone." Spafford took the next boat over, and as he passed the spot where the ship went down, began to write, “When peace like a river attendeth my way, when sorrows like sea billows roll,” and continued until he had the text, “It is well with my soul.” His good friend, Philip Bliss, composed the tune for his words, naming it after the ship, VILLE DU HAVRE. In this hymn, Spafford has given all of us words of comfort and assurance in times of physical and spiritual crisis, paraphrasing those familiar words of Julian of Norwich: “And all shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.”

Thanks for choosing this one, it was an encouragement to revisit and prepare.
@@BirdMusicAcademy it was my dad’s favorite hymn. It always reminds me of how much he loved the Lord and lived to serve God. I am glad it encourages you, too.

Oh my goodness, that is so beautiful! I've never seen anyone play their own accompaniment in the same instrument. Is that what they call double stop? Thank you for sharing. God Bless! ❤🙏
Very nice and helpful. thanks
Can u play 'have thine way lord'tnx i love to play christian violin piece. Tnx😊
Beautiful! Wow how did you play on two strings at once ! Thats crazy lol . Im only a beginner so i didnt know you could even do that
Yes! They are called double stops. I recommend getting comfortable on one string at a time as a beginner, but even now you can start preparing for double stops. At the start of each practice, play each open string using full bows, then play the A and E together full bows, D and A together full bows, and then G and D together with full bows. Listen for an even tone on each string.
@BirdMusicAcademy wow thank you so much for that tip ! I will add that to my warm ups 😀
